SOUTH MOUNTAIN, Pa. - Madeline Barnhart Smiley, 88, of Michaux Manor Living Center, and formerly of 224 Harrison Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, May 17, 1999, at Piney Mountain Nursing Home in Fayetteville, Pa.
Born Jan. 24, 1911, in Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles Emmert and Mable Jenny Gardenhour Barnhart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Smiley, in 1973.
She attended schools at Five Forks, Pa.
She worked at Wayne Manufacturing Co. in Waynesboro; at Stanley Co. in Chambersburg, Pa.; and was last employed as a presser at Waynesboro Knitting Mill.
She attended Calvary Assembly of God Church in Waynesboro.
She was a member of South Chapter 2977 AARP in Waynesboro and National AARP.
She is survived by three daughters, Martha J. Haugh, Evelyn M. Justus and Freida B. Bowling, all of Waynesboro; one son, Donald E. Smiley of Waynesboro; three sisters, Lovetta Carbaugh of New Franklin, Pa., Thelma Hummer and Armatha Haugh, both of Waynesboro; one brother, Elwood Barnhart of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; one sister, Ruth Hager; seven brothers, her twin brother Richard Barnhart, Crawford Barnhart, Floyd Barnhart, Glenn Barnhart, Charles Barnhart, Edward Barnhart and Ray Barnhart.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Walter A. Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arthur P. Wiser
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Arthur P. Wiser, 69, of 5656 Lincoln Way East, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, May 17, 1999, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Sept. 5, 1929, in Blairs Mill, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence B. and Marie A. Kling Wiser.
He retired in 1996 from David H. Martin Excavating Inc. in Chambersburg, where he was a truck driver. He formerly owned and operated Art's Garage in Fayetteville for 20 years, until 1985.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of First Tabernacle of God Church in Fayetteville.
He was a member of Hume, McNeal, Byers AmVets Post 224, Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 and Marine Corps League, all of Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Rosenberry Wiser; two daughters, Anna L. Wiser of Fayetteville and Deborah Ross of Waynesboro, Pa.; three sisters, Florence Wert of New Cumberland, Pa., Dorothy Bowman of Three Springs, Pa., and Claire Sheham of Harrington, N.C.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Joseph P. Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Amber L. Groft
FAIRFIELD, Pa. - Amber Louise Groft, 10, of 105 E. Main St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, May 16, 1999, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, as a result of a pedestrian-automobile accident in Fairfield.
Born June 23, 1988, at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas, she was the daughter of David R. Groft Jr. of Waynesboro, Pa., and Lisa D. Harbaugh Groft of Fairfield.
She was a fifth-grade student at Fairfield Middle School.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Gerald R. and Delores Caufman of Rouzerville, Pa.; paternal grandparents, Richard and Susan Buchter of Waynesboro; maternal great-grandmother, Mabel Shindledecker of Fairfield; paternal great-grandparents, Eva Daywalt of South Mountain, Pa., and Egan and Ruth Buchter of Long Island, N.Y.; aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Louise M. Caufman.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m., at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Eugene M. Cline will officiate. Burial will be in Fountaindale Union Cemetery in Adams County, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Doris J. Peters

Born June 30, 1938, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Earl Wilbur and Violet Ruth Bristol Peters.
She graduated from North Hagerstown High School, and attended Grace College in Wynona Lake, Ind.
She had a background in executive administration. She was last employed by Citicorp, and previously worked at The Herald-Mail Co., Pangborn, Mack Trucks, and the Board of Education.
She was a member of Bible Brethren Church, and did missionary work with Philippines New Tribes Mission for eight years.
She is survived by three sisters, Madelyn R. McAbee of Hagerstown, Joyce C. Kline of Middletown, Md., and Delores J. Petkus of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Paul Reno will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Richard A. Golden
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Richard A. He was a 1957 graduate of Southern Fulton High School.
He was a self-employed logger and firewood supplier.
He was a member of Orchard Ridge First Church of God in Hancock.
He was formerly active in Hancock Little League and local girls softball and youth basketball at Southern Fulton High School in Warfordsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann McCarty Golden, whom he married
Nov. 28, 1964; one daughter, Bethany Erin Ann Golden, at home; a niece, Vicki Truax of Monroe, Va., a nephew, Craig McCarty of Needmore, both of whom he and his wife raised; three sisters, Betty R. Golden and Mary J. Kerns, both of Warfordsburg, and Lois J. Paff of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one brother, James L. Golden of Greencastle, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at May's Chapel Christian Church in Warfordsburg. The Rev. Jeffery Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, which will be open from noon to 9 p.m.; and at the church Wednesday at 1 p.m.

She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy A. Furry of Harrisburg, Pa.; three sons, Donald R. Hollenshead of Wichita Falls, Texas, James C. Hollenshead and Kenneth W. Hollenshead, both of Chambersburg; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. K. Hull Byers will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
