MERCERSBURG, Pa. - John McN. "Mac" Myers, 92, of 61 Beech Lane, Mercersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, April 23, 1999, in Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Aug. 6, 1906, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late Jacob M. and Mabel Kendall Myers.
He was preceded in death by his wife whom he married

He was a 1923 graduate of Mercersburg Academy and a 1928 graduate of Princeton University.
He was first employed for Bell Telephone Co., Lancaster County, then along with the late Clarence B. Tritle, he owned and operated the department store on the "Square" under the name of Myers & Tritle.
He was a lifelong member of Presbyterian Church and served as a trustee, Sunday School superintendent, a deacon and an elder.
He was a social member of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 and Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, both of Mercersburg. He was also a member of Beautification Committee of the Borough. He was president of Mercersburg School Board, a director of Chamber of Commerce, and Mercersburg Development Association. He was treasurer of MMP&W Fire Company, mayor of Mercersburg from 1981 to 1984, a member of first National Bank of Mercersburg board of directors and served as secretary. He also acted in the former Tuscarora Area Community Theatre.
He is survived by two daughters, Mabel Jo Clark of South Lyon, Mich. and Trudy E. Clark of San Diego; one brother, Dr. J. Martin Myers of West Chester, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Presbyterian Church of Mercersburg. The Rev. Michael K. Miller and the Rev. Henry Hunsberger will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing will be held Tuesday one hour prior to the services in the church.
It was his request that flowers be omitted.

Herbert Andrews
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Herbert Andrews, 69, a resident of ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, and formerly of 240 S. He was born Nov. 22, 1929, in Robinsonville, N.C.
He had worked on area farms prior to retiring.
He is survived by his companion of 17 years, Rosalie Reed of Chambersburg.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. in Lebanon Cemetery, Chambersburg. The Rev. W. Larry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
Carrie A. Stoner
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Carrie A. Born Aug. 11, 1911, in Metal Township, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Mina Flagle Rosenberry. She was stepdaughter of the late Ashby Mawyer.
Her husband, J. Wilbur "Bill" Stoner, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1969.
She was a 1929 graduate of Chambersburg High School; and a graduate of the former Thompson Business School in York, Pa.
She was secretary for Stoner's Hijos Hill Inc. in Mercersburg.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Upton, Pa.
She also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Fulton County Chapter 519, James Buchanan Athletic Boosters, and Fort Loudon Senior Citizens Group. She assisted in the Mercersburg area with Meals on Wheels. In 1976 she received a Master Farmer award.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia M. Dent of Chambersburg; six sons, John R. Stoner, Robert H. Stoner and David D. Stoner, all of Mercersburg, Jay W. Stoner of Chambersburg, William A. Stoner and Herbert L. Stoner, both of St. Thomas, Pa.; 25 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, R. Gene Stoner; two brothers, Bard Rosenberry and Raymond Rosenberry; and one granddaughter.
Services will be Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Upton. The Rev. Alan R. Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg.
A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg.

John J. Kelso
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - John J. Kelso, 74, of 201 E. Born June 29, 1924, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late John W. and Mabel Jackson Kelso.
He was a funeral director in McConnellsburg from 1950 until the present, and owned and operated Kelso Funeral Home from 1950 until 1981.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in McConnellsburg, and was a Sunday school teacher.
He was a member of Mount Zion Lodge McConnellsburg; Harrisburg Consistory; Jaffa Temple in Altoona, and was worshipful master several times and secretary.
He also was a member of McConnellsburg Lions Club, McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co., and had been honored as fireman of the year; a former member of the McConnellsburg Chamber of Commerce, Fulton Industrial Development Corp., AARP, member of Narrows Hunting Club and Trussel Hollow Hunting Club.
He was a founder of Fulton County Little League; and a former manager and chairman of the board of directors of Fulton County National Bank and Trust Co. and was a director for 34 years. He had been honored with the Outstanding Citizen Award by the Chamber of Commerce of McConnellsburg, and was one of those responsible for the World War II Veterans Plaque in Fulton County Court House.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Reeder Kelso, whom he married
June 9, 1945; one daughter, Jacolin Ann Cornelius of Chambersburg; two sons, John Alan Kelso and Charles Patrick Kelso, both of McConnellsburg; one stepsister, Madeline Snyder of York, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McConnellsburg. The Rev. Henry Johnson and the Rev. Belvy White will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in McConnellsburg, with military services by Fulton County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The funeral home will be open Wednesday from 2 p.m.
Terry L. Burke, Sr.
MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Terry Lee Burke Sr., 54, of Old Route 30, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 5, 1944, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert V. and Helen E. Stoner Burke.
He was employed at Fulton Motors, McConnellsburg. He was a former employee of JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, and Corning Glass Works, Greencastle, Pa. He had worked as a machinist at Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, Pa., and at the Mercersburg Tannery. He was the manager of Fulton Terrace Apartments, McConnellsburg, for 14 years.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Vietnam and earned two bronze service stars.
He was a member of Bethel-Cito AME Church, McConnellsburg.
He was a member of BPOE Lodge 600, Chambersburg; and NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Spriggs Burke, whom he married
in 1997; two daughters, Cynthia Elizabeth Margaret Burke, of Chambersburg, and Shnella Elizabeth Burke, at home; a son, Terry Lee Burke Jr., of Chambersburg; two sisters, Connie M. Riley and Carolyn A. Cuff, both of Mercersburg, Pa.; one brother, Robert I. Burke of Waynesboro, Pa.; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Burke.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. Licentuate Dwayne Moore and the Rev. Darnell Montgomery will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Union Cemetery, Mercersburg with military graveside services by Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
