QUINCY, Pa. - Helen C. Mummert, 88, of Quincy Village, Cottage 109-B, and formerly of 54 Orchard Circle, Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, in Quincy United Methodist Home.
Born Nov. 24, 1910, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Edward Sr. and Bertha Irene Horst Peiffer.
She was a 1929 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
She was employed at Clever Grosh as a school bus driver in the Greencastle-Antrim area. She was the first female bus driver in Antrim Township. She helped her husband do maintenance work at Citizens National Bank of Southern Pennsylvania in Greencastle.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle and the Women's Bible Class of the Sunday School.
She was a member of Greencastle-Antrim Senior Women's Club and Waynesboro AARP.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Wilbur E. Mummert; one son, Paul E. Mummert of Martinsburg; two sisters, Ethel McCarry of Port Arthur, Texas and Thelma Haywood of Hart, Mich.; one brother, John Peiffer Jr. of Waynesboro; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Martin H. Horn will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parking Lot Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
Russell B. Hutton
ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Russell B. Hutton, 88, of 713 Appleway Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Oct. 12, 1911, in Kincaid, Kan., he was the son of the late George and Sadie Mae Brown Hutton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Mae DeHart Hutton.
He owned and operated R. B. Hutton Orchards prior to retiring.
He was a charter member of Chambersburg Open Door Church; was a head usher, and a deacon. He helped in the development of the new church on Miller Street.
He was a member of St. Thomas Sportsman Club; and St. Thomas Coon Hunters Club.
He is survived by a sister, Addie Miller of Fort Scott, Kan.; a brother, Paul Hutton of Ocala, Fla.; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Virginia Kauffman; two sisters and three brothers.
Services will be Monday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Art Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Quincy, Pa.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday at noon at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Sunday from 2 p.m.
Jack A. Peck
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Jack A. Peck, 72, of Brindle Terrace, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born April 10, 1927, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Ellis C. and Sybil B. Miller Peck.
He was an associate of Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg, for 43 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a life member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Mercersburg and sang in the choir for 50 years. He served as deacon, elder, receptionist, usher and on the music committee.
He was active in veterans organizations. He was a life member, past commander and former treasurer of Harry Lackhove American Legion Post No. 517 of Mercersburg; James McKibbin American Legion Post No. 561 of McConnellsburg, Pa.; Wesley Yeager American Post No. 606 of Fort Loudon, Pa.; Clarence Armstrong VFW Post No. 6241 of Mercersburg; Twenty-second District Past Post Commanders Club; Twenty-second District Deputy Commander; delegate to the Federation of Clubs of Franklin and Fulton counties; and a charter member and trustee of Twenty-one Day Retreat Organization of Cumberland Valley.
He was a member of MMP&W Volunteer Fire Co. of Mercersburg; former secretary of MMP&W Fire Board, former captain of the Fire Police; and former president of Relief Association. He also was a member of Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association; Firemen's Association of South Eastern Pennsylvania; past president of Franklin-Fulton Fire Police and Chief's Association; and Pennsylvania State Fire Police Association. He was a member of Mercersburg Area Community Chorus, former member and president of Mercersburg Community Band; member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1191 of Waynesboro, Pa.; and AARP.
He is survived by two nephews, Carl R. Peck of Columbia, Md., and Larry W. Peck of Hustontown, Pa.; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Noble Peck.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ. The Rev. Milton W. Benny Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg; and Monday one hour before the services at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ Elevator Fund, 129 E. Seminary St., Mercersburg, PA 17236.
Walter R. Wetzell
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Walter R. Born March 6, 1932, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George J. and Thelma E. DeFelt Wetzell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores M. Davis Wetzell, on April 15, 1999.
He retired as an air conditioning repairman from Meenan Oil Co., Levittown, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with six bronze stars.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Orrtanna, Pa.
He was a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg, where he served as senior vice commander of the Post and also served as a Lieutenant of the Honor Guard. He was a member of Catholic War Veterans; and a life member of HIlltop Athletic Association, Oakford, Pa.
He is survived by four daughters, Rita Haldeman of Shreveport, La., Mickey Rihl of Quakertown, Pa., Lorri Candri of Cincinnati and Catherine B. Wetzell of Chambersburg; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George J. Wetzell II and Martin Wetzell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at noon at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Duchanan Valley, Orrtanna. The Rev. Carl J. Steffen will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Orrtanna. Military graveside services will be conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
Memorial donations may be made to Newton D. Baker Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, W.Va. 9, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
John E. Prinkey

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from July of 1953 until October of 1955.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a member of Independent Truckers Association; and Harley-Davidson Association.
He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Stockslager of Fairfield, Sherry Shultz of Connellsville and Cynthia Stubbs of Brandon, Fla.; a son, Jonathan Prinkey of Sumter, S.C.; a sister, Mary Ellen Carry of Dunbar, Pa.; three brothers, H.C. Prinkey of Alexandria, Va., Jimmy Prinkey of North Charleroi, Pa., and Donald Prinkey of Foristell, Mo.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Mae Prinkey.
Memorial services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro.
