CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - M. Born May 17, 1914, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Rush M. and Elsie G. Brown Johns.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren F. McBride, in 1994. They were married
Oct. 24, 1936.
She was employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill and later by Waynesboro Shoe Factory. She was cashier and then assistant manager of Arcade Theater in Waynesboro, retiring in 1965.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna M. Moss of Georgetown, S.C.; a son, Larry T. McBride of Waynesboro; four sisters, Gladys C. Gilbert of Greencastle, Pa., Jean Smith of Stuart, Fla., Janet Helfrick of Afton, Va., and Dorothy Loy of Spartanburg, S.C.; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Thompson and Betty Spong; and a brother, Richard Johns.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mont Alto, Pa. The Rev. Stuart Troutman will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Charles R. Dukehart
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Charles R. "Charlie" Dukehart, 86, of 255 Antietam Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at his home.
Born Feb. 3, 1913, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Adam C. and Gertrude Funk Dukehart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine E. Mumma Alden Dukehart, in 1995. They were married
Sept. 4, 1993.
He was a 1931 graduate of Loyola High School, Baltimore. He graduated from a college in Dunkirk, N.Y. He attended Passionist Seminary in New York.
He worked in the family business, A.C. Dukehart and Sons Construction in Waynesboro. He retired in 1975.
He was a member of Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Waynesboro.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2068, Waynesboro; Auxiliary member of Legion of Mary; BPO Elks Lodge 731, Waynesboro; and National AARP.
He is survived by two sisters, Helen M. Childs of Bel Air, Md., and Gertrude R. Foreman of Waynesboro; a brother, James W. Dukehart of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn M. Coale; two brothers, Paul Dukehart and Joseph J. Dukehart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro. Father Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will be in Saint Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Passionists, 526 Monastery Place, Union City, NJ 07087-3398.
Elsie V. John
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Elsie V. Eyer John, 80, of 1005 Orchard Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at her home.
Born Oct. 25, 1918, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late David C. and Anna Comerer Ward.
She was a Realtor in Chambersburg from 1957, retiring in 1980. She was president of the Franklin County Board of Realtors from 1967 to 1977.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Women of the E.L.C.A., church council, service committee, Word and Witness program, and sang in the choir.
She was a member of V.F.W. 1599 Auxiliary; a member and president, vice president, director, and on committees of AARP 2287; volunteered with the Red Cross Nurses Aide Program during World War II; and volunteered in the Reach to Recovery Program with American Cancer Society.
She is survived by three daughters, Beryl Myers of Horseheads, N.Y., Margaret Roberts of Waynesboro, Pa., and Debra S. Eyer of Herndon, Va.; four sons, Brian W. Eyer of Falling Waters, W.Va., Aaron R. Eyer and Harold D. John, both of Chambersburg, and Michael A. John of Carlisle, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner of Commerce Street and Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg. The Rev. Neal O. Hively will officiate. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Betty J. Stevens

Born March 29, 1930, in Middle Spring, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Paul John and Harriet E. Tosten Baer.
She had been employed by the Borough of Chambersburg as a custodian.
She attended Seventh-day Adventist Church, Chambersburg.
She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Stevens, whom she married
in 1955; one son, Gary Lee Stevens Sr. of Shippensburg, Pa.; one sister, Mary Ellen Baer of Chambersburg; four brothers, Floyd E. Baer, Donald L. Baer Sr., Glen P. Baer and Ronald R. Baer, all of Chambersburg; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth C. Baer.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Seventh-day Adventist Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. Dean Negley will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the church.

Ruth R. Leitch
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ruth R. "Book" Leitch, 93, of Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg, and formerly of 132 Park Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born July 14, 1905, in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Herbert and Anna Rhodes Redding.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raul W. Leitch, in 1936.
She was on the staff of Wilson College for 34 years, retiring in 1970 as director of admissions. She also was on the college's Committee on Financial Aid and represented the college on the College Entrance Board, the National Scholarship Committee and the Potomac Edison Committee.
She received an honorary doctor of letters degree from the college in 1972. The class of 1947 presented the college with her portrait, which hangs in the Admissions Office in Old Main Hall. In 1984 she was named Outstanding Alumnae of Wilson College.
She was a member of Afternoon Club and Wilson College Club of Franklin County.
She was a member of Falling Spring Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. She was the first woman to be elected an elder in the church and became the first woman Clerk of Session.
She is survived by one daughter, Anne L. Day of Bethlehem, Pa.; four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Carter, Katherine Cannon and Marian Heidelbaugh; and one brother, Albert Charles Redding.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring. The Rev. William Harter will officiate.
It was her wish that her remains be donated to the Humanity Gifts Registry for medical study.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Wilson College, 1015 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201; or to Falling Spring Presbyterian Church, c/o Music Fund, 221 N. Main St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
