Born June 7, 1923, in Scotland, Pa., he was the son of the late Harper and Grace Skinner Gontz.
He was employed by Shively Motors in Chambersburg for 38 years, retiring in 1986 as foreman of the body repair shop.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
A member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Chambersburg, he was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He served on the church council and property committee. He was a member of Pennsylvania State Sunday School Association.
He was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion and Marine Corps League, both in Chambersburg. He assisted in coordinating the annual Scotland Festival and community ham supper in Scotland, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Helen L. Starliper Gontz, whom he married
July 13, 1943; a daughter, Linda L. Kuhn of Scotland; four sons, Delbert L. Gontz and Terry L. Gontz, both of Chambersburg, Garry E. Gontz of Scotland and Gregory D. Gontz of South Pasadena, Calif.; three sisters, Rachel O'Conner of Totowa, N.J., Edna Kieffer of Chambersburg and Goldie McIntire of Fayetteville, Pa.; a brother, Cardinal Gontz of Shippensburg, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. Beth R. Lupolt will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church Thursday at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to World Hunger Fund, c/o St. Luke Lutheran Church, 2695 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Marjorie B. Burket

Born June 6, 1919, in Martinsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Fleetwood and Luella Detwiler Brumbaugh.
She is survived by her sister, Darlene B. Hoffman, with whom she resided prior to entering the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Burket.
Raymond P. Hoover

Born Feb. 14, 1917, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Raymond O. and Eva Raifsnider Hoover.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from January 1941 to March 1942, piloting warplanes flying between Canada and England.
He was a Protestant.
He is survived by one sister, Patricia West of Chambersburg; one brother, Clarence E. Hoover of Chambersburg; seven nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Norland Cemetery. The Rev. Ruth I. Smith will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
Sarah K. Detwiler

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael A. Detwiler, in 1966.
She was employed by Newberry's for 28 years as a salesperson.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Chambersburg, and Kathryn Keller Bible Class.
She was a member of Martha Custis Chapter of Order of Eastern Star; Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary; A.A.R.P. 1507; N.A.R.P.E. 1063; Sons and Daughters of Liberty; and Golden Age Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Kauffman of Arnold, Md.; and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Neal O. Hively will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday at noon at the funeral home.

Helen M. McLaughlin

Born Sept. 5, 1907, in LeMasters, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Susan Hassler McGaughey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard C. McLaughlin, in 1971.
She and her husband owned and operated the Orchard White House Restaurant and Motel in Fort Loudon for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Fort Loudon, and was a member of the Consistory, Women's Guild and choir.
She volunteered at Fort Loudon Senior Citizen Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Newman of Fort Loudon; one son, Rodney E. McLaughlin of Hummelstown, Pa.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Services will be Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ of Fort Loudon. The Rev. Barron P. Barley will officiate. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon.
The family will receive friends Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the church.

He was a 1972 graduate of Greencastle High School.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 11 years, and received a full medical discharge. He previously was employed by Grove Manufacturing in Shady Grove, Pa.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four daughters, Sabrina Thornton of Ohio, Megan Beaver of Fayetteville, Katherine Beaver and Alexandria Beaver, both of Lake Peekskill, N.Y.; one sister, Nina M. Christman of Greencastle; four brothers, Roy C. Beaver Jr., David E. Beaver, Rocky L. Beaver and Paul W. Beaver, all of Greencastle; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg with military services by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 of Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard of Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
