CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pauline E. Summers, 87, of 200 N. Main St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at the home of her daughter, Celia E. Arrison.
Born Feb. 15, 1912, in Quincy, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Dessie Blubaugh Harmon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orland F. Summers, in 1970.
She was a clerk at Lana Lobell Dress Shop, Chambersburg.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She is survived by two daughters, Y. Kay Summers and Celia E. Arrison, both of Chambersburg; a sister, Anna D. Heckman of Chambersburg; two brothers, Brinton E. Harmon of Midland, Mich. and Harold G. Harmon of Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly A. Rote; a son, Gregory R. Summers; three sisters; and four brothers.
Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Bishop Bobby H. Fike will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
James R. Stull
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - James R. Stull, 92, of 1377 Falling Spring Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Shook Home, Chambersburg.
Born April 24, 1906, in Quincy, Pa., he was the son of the late William S. and Emma K. Gossert Stull.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Haxel H. Hassler Stull, in 1974.
He was an auto mechanic for V. T. Angle and Sons, formerly of Chambersburg.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, and the Men's Bible Class.
He was a clock repairman and wood craftsman.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister and six brothers.
Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Donald C. Nolder will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Betty E. Butts
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Betty E. Butts, 67, of 1024 Warm Spring Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at her home.
Born Oct. 26, 1931, in Roadside, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Calvin Z. and Mary V. Shockey Koons.
She graduated from Greencastle High School.
She was a homemaker and had worked for Potomac Edison in Hagerstown and York Optical in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, where she served as church librarian.
She enjoyed being with her family, gardening and working with flowers.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Earl L. Butts III; two daughters, Lori E. Donahue of Gulfport, Miss., and Barbara A. Surratt of Hagerstown; three sisters, Louise A. Zeger of Mercersburg, Pa., Lois A. Baughman of Olney, Md., and F. Pauline Myers of State Line, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa. The Rev. Dean M. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
There will be no public viewing; however, the family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, 15 S. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
Elizabeth W.S. Gallant
EL PASO, Texas - Elizabeth "Betty" Wishard Stewart Gallant, 89, of 1093 Los Jardines and formerly of Hagerstown, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Providence Hospital in El Paso.
Born March 14, 1910, in Everett, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Moses Augustus Kieffer and Elizabeth Hagerman Kieffer.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred C. Wishard in 1948, and her second husband, Russell E. Stewart in 1972.
She was a graduate of Catawba College in North Carolina, did graduate work in music at Columbia University in New York and later received a master's degree in counseling and guidance from Texas Western, El Paso, Texas.
She was a teacher and guidance counselor in the El Paso School System.
She spent many years at Coronado High School as a counselor until her retirement. She was a music teacher at Boonsboro High School prior to moving to Texas in 1947.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church, United Church of Christ, in Hagerstown from 1940 to 1946 and sang in the church choir.
She was a member of Cumberland Valley Chorusters and past president of Trans-Pecos Personnel and Guidance Association of El Paso.
She is survived by her husband, Francis X. Gallant; one son, David C. Stewart of San Carlos, Calif.; three nieces; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah K. Spigler; and one brother, Walter H. Kieffer.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 27, at Mercersburg Cemetery, Mercersburg, Pa., at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. She was cremated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
Arrangements are by Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.
Evelyn G. Mumma
BEDFORD, Pa. - Evelyn G. Mumma, 84, of Pennknoll Village, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at the home.
Born in Appletown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Carma and Eva Nicodemus Green.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Reichert Mumma, in 1991. They were married
June 11, 1939.
She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and Frostburg State College.
She taught in the Boonsboro district for 25 years.
She was a member of Christ Community Church, Bedford.
Musically talented, she played with Rohrersville Band; and was organist for Mount Carmel Methodist Church for 35 years.
She also was well-known for her quilts, which had won first place at Kutztown Fair.
She is survived by two sons, Carroll "Buck" Mumma of Schellsburg, Pa., and V. Allan Mumma of Mankato, Minn.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Milbrey Green.
A memorial service will be Saturday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at Christ Community Church, Old Bedford Village. Pastors John and Kim Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Evelyn Mumma Scholarship Fund, c/o Heritage Christian Academy, P.O. Box 150, Bedford, PA 15522.
