WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Scott Allen Painter, 20, of 20 E. Main St., Waynesboro, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Western Pennsylvania Cancer Institute in Pittsburgh, Pa., following a long illness.
Born May 12, 1978, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Kenneth J. and Susan E. Sharrah Painter of Waynesboro.
He attended Waynesboro Area Senior High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Stacy L. Painter and Soyna R. Painter-Yeager, both of Waynesboro; one brother, Shawn M. Painter of Waynesboro; two nephews, a special friend, Tammy Gelsinger of Chambersburg and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Joseph C. Carolin will officiate. Burial will be in Price's Church Cemetery near Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Scott A. Painter Trust Fund, c/o Financial Trust, 13 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Charles L. Crider
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Charles L. Crider, 63, a resident of Shippensburg Health Care Center, and formerly of 25 N. Potomac St., Trinity House, Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born Aug. 2, 1935, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Max H. Sr., and Alice M. Downin Crider.
He attended Brown's Mill School, Kauffman Station.
He was employed at Samuel Dixon Hospital, South Mountain for 11 years in the food service department in his early life. Prior to retiring in the early 1980's he was employed at Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro, in the foundry for 14 years.
He was a resident of the nursing home for the past 2 years.
He is survived by three daughters, Gladys Crider, Alice Crider and Maxine Crider, all of South Mountain; four brothers, Richard C. Crider and Kenneth E. Crider, Sr., both of Greencastle, Pa., Donald H. Crider Sr., of Waynesboro, and Max H. Crider, Jr., of Wheeling, W.Va.; a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville. The Rev. James T. Williams will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
Dorothy E. Murray
KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Dorothy E. Murray, 76, of 357 E. Main St., Kutztown, and formerly of Jordan Road, Fairplay, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at her home.
Born in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Wilson Sr. and Neva Rieger Wilson.
She was employed at the former Western Electric, now Lucent Technologies, Reading, Pa., as an electrical assembler. Prior to that she was an LPN at St. Joseph's Hospital, Reading.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Murray, with whom she resided, and Frederick J. Murray Jr.; three sisters, Esther Wilson Welsh of Hyneman, Pa., Josephine Wilson McMannis of LaVale, Md., and Gwen Wilson LaCasper of Cumberland; one brother, Earl Wilson of Wellington, Colo., and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 234 E. Main St., Kutztown.
There will be no visitation.
Randy L. Kaiser Sr.
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Randy L. Kaiser Sr., 38, of 5108 Wayne Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital, as a result of an automobile accident in Guilford Township, Pa.
Born Oct. 16, 1960, in Chambersburg, he was the son of H. Lee and Connie E. McCleary Kaiser of Chambersburg.
He was a 1978 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and attended Pike's Peak Community College while serving in the U.S. Army in Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was a self-employed truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy A. Dauer Kaiser, whom he married
June 14, 1980; three sons, Randy Lee Kaiser Jr., Robert L. Kaiser and Ryan P. Kaiser, all at home; two brothers, Edward L. Kaiser of Greencastle, Pa., and Samuel L. Kaiser of Chambersburg; paternal grandfather, Harry L. Kaiser of Chambersburg; and maternal grandmother, Elizabeth M. Monn of Chambersburg.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at New Franklin Assembly of God Church, 2355 New Franklin Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Sean A. Hinton will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg, with military services by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.
Visitation will be at Thomas A. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
George C. Austin
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - George C. Austin, 90, formerly of 13884 Buchanan Trail West, Mercersburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, in ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.
Born Jan. 19, 1909, in Cito, Pa., he was the son of the late Jenny Seville Austin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Cordell Austin, in 1974.
He was employed as a heavy equipment operating engineer out of Local 66 of Monroeville, Pa. for 50 years, retiring in 1973. He owned and operated Austin's Gulf Station in Mercersburg.
He was a life member of Mercersburg Sportsmen's Association, and National Turkey Federation.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, LaFawn Richesson of Dover, Pa., and Joyce Cunningham of Mercersburg; three sons, Donald Austin of Pickens, S.C., George Ed Austin of Mercersburg, and Barry Austin of Greencastle, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Austin, and one sister, Faye Miller.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Glen A. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Raymond E. Poper
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Raymond E. Poper, 73, of Caledonia Manor Nursing Home, Fayetteville, and formerly of 152 N. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born Oct. 10, 1925, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Henry Swisher and Ethel Mae Dale Poper.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. Halstead Poper, in 1988. They were married
in 1946
He attended Hagerstown-area schools.
He was employed as a painter in the Greencastle area.
He served in the U.S. Army with Company B, 410th Infantry during World War II in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of Frank Carbaugh American Legion Post 373 and Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319, AMVETS Post 224, both of Chambersburg, and Disabled American Veterans Association.
He is survived by one daughter, Neva J. Everts of State Line, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Doris Zimmerman of Williamsport; two stepsons, Roger Dawson and Jay Dawson, both of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Joann Barnhart of Greencastle; one brother, George Henry Poper of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda E. Hoffman; one stepdaughter, Sonya D. Reigh; three sisters, Peggy Poper, Virginia Ernde and Louise Shade; two brothers, Alfred Swisher and Weldon L. Poper.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Donald M. Bohn will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, with military services by Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Veterans Memorial Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by Harry D. Ziegler VFW Post 6319.
