WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Lila May "Ginger" Smyser, 59, of 233 Memorial Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in the emergency room of Washington County Hospital.

Born June 1, 1939, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Eugene P. and Gladys Mountford Smyser.

She was a 1958 graduate of Waynesboro High School. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Penn State University and her master's of library science from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

She was employed as a reference librarian at Hagerstown Community College since 1968.

She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Waynesboro, where she served on the vestry and was the organist for more than 20 years.

She is survived by an uncle, nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Waynesboro. The Rev. Stephen D. Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

There will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church Organ Fund, 112 E. Second St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Frances V. Blubaugh

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Frances V. Moudy Bowman Blubaugh, 82, of ManorCare Health Services, and formerly of 9289 Tomstown Road, Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born April 23, 1916, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late George I. and A. Blanche Wolfe Moudy.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Andrew Bowman, in 1955; and by her second husband, Robert G. Blubaugh, in 1982.

She attended school in Thurmont, Md.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria V. Blubaugh; three sisters, Mary M. Bailey, Edith Moudy and Thelma Boone; and three brothers, George D. Moudy, Eugene A. "Sonny" Moudy and Benjamin R. Moudy.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Barbara J. Long

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Barbara Jean Long, 65, of 952 Milnor Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 25, 1933, in Johnstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Homer E. and Emma B. Rummel Lloyd.

She was retired from J.C. Schundell in Chambersburg, Pa.

She had been a volunteer with Starland Skating Rink in Hagerstown since 1961.

She is survived by a daughter, Marcinda Lynn of Hagerstown; a sister, Anna Tallyen of Delaware; two brothers, Clair Lloyd of Texas and William Lloyd of Greencastle; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Donald Turley will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Janet Castle

DIETIKON, Switzerland - Janet Oller Castle, 82, of Dietikon, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at a nursing home in Dietikon.

Born June 15, 1916, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late J. Edgar and Maud Hoover Oller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander "Alex" Castle Sr. They were married in September 1947.

She was a 1935 graduate of Waynesboro High School. She attended Waynesboro Business School.

She was employed at Frick Co. in Waynesboro. She and her husband helped in the family electrical business in Switzerland.

She is survived by two sisters, Helen O. McKelvey of Waynesboro and Betty O. Verdier of Harrisburg, Pa.; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Castle; and a son, Alexander J. Castle Jr.

Services will be held Monday in Dietikon.

Wilbur L. Slautterback

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Wilbur L. Slautterback, 82, of 106 Lincoln Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at his home.

Born April 27, 1916, in Walker Township, Pa., he was the son of the late William H. and Laura Young Slautterback.

He was a 1935 graduate of Lewistown High School.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fayetteville.

He was a member of AARP Chapter 2840.

He was a construction electrician with Harrisburg Local I.B.E.W. 143.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Snook Slautterback, whom he married Sept. 23, 1938; two daughters, Ann Farley of Philadelphia and Susan Morgan of Olean, N.Y.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Dumpman of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was preceded in death by eight sisters and two brothers.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The Rev. David L. Hefner will officiate.

There will be no public visitation.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 44 E. Main St., Fayetteville, PA 17222.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Ruby L. Houser

Born Aug. 10, 1925, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Irvin F. and Reba Nye Henry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Houser, in 1980.

She was a 1943 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

She had been employed as a secretary for attorney George S. Black and later by the law office of Black and Davison, Chambersburg. She worked as a secretary at E.C. Barnes and Son, St. Thomas, Pa. She retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg; and then worked as a secretary at the Franklin County Vocational-Technical School. For the past five years, she had been employed by Wagon Wheel Gift Shop, Chambersburg.

She was a member of Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, Chambersburg.

She was a member of the Democratic Party Committee, and was a committee woman. She formerly was secretary to the Franklin County Democratic Committee.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Joseph Houser of Lancaster, Pa.; two sisters, Hazel E. Naugle of Hagerstown and Doris Bard of Chambersburg; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl E. Henry.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Jeffrey R. Diller will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Chambersburg.

There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends Monday at noon at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, 259 S. Main St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
