CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Catharine D. Sheldon Garns, 95, a resident of Shook Home, Chambersburg, and formerly of 316 N. Broad Street, Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999 in the nursing home.
Born Aug. 16, 1903, in Rouzerville, she was the daughter of the late Albertus and Emma Whitmore Sheldon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Norman "Tub" Garns, whom she married

She was employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill for many years as a machine operator, retiring in 1968.
She was a member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ, Marion, Pa., and Homewood Auxiliary of the church.
She was a member of Waynesboro Chapter 739 A.A.R.P. and National A.A.R.P.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Olive Cauffman, three brothers, Eldon Sheldon, Grant Sheldon, and Paul Sheldon.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery. The Rev. John A. Toms will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heidelberg United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 381, Marion, PA 17235.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
Clarence E. Trimble
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Clarence E. Trimble, 69, a resident of Piney Mountain Home, 6375 Chambersburg Road, Fayetteville, Pa. and formerly of 806 Maryland Avenue, Chambersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 2, 1929, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Christine Trimble Gant and the late Earl Banks.
He was a 1947 graduate of Carver High School, Cumberland.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was employed by Stouffer Food, Cleveland.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Trimble of New Haven, Conn.; six children, one brother, Russell Trimble of Cumberland; 11 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veteran's Cemetery, Cumberland.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro, Pa.
Frances C. Long

Born Oct. 9, 1916, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Pearl Duncan Dennis.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel E. Hull.
She retired from Fairchild Aircraft in 1979 after 39 years of service.
She was a life member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of A.A.R.P. South Chapter, Waynesboro.
She is survived by her second husband, Guy Long, two stepdaughters, Dixie Hammersla of Hagerstown, and Frances Summers of Waynesboro; one stepson, Harold Musey of Waynesboro; four sisters, Dorothy Hartman and Gladys Dennis, both of Leesburg, Fla., Elva Vaughn of Reisterstown, Md., and Sandy Grey; one granddaughter, three grandsons, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Terry D. Hull and C. Richard Hull; one stepson, Reuben Musey; and one sister, Erma Bishop.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dennis L. Upton will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert W. Forbes
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Robert W. "Bob" Forbes, 84, of 354 Stonegate Court, Chambersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Dec. 28, 1914, in Scotland, Pa., he was the son of the late W. Harry and Sarah Shetter Forbes.

He was employed by Hershey Creamery, Chambersburg, as a truck driver, then he was an equipment operator for construction. He was a machinist for Caterpillar in York, Pa., retiring in 1980. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 12 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a medic with the rank of staff sergeant.
He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg, with 40 years of perfect attendance. For the last six years he had attended United Methodist Church of St. Thomas, Pa.
He was a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 V.F.W., Chambersburg, a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Chambersburg, and A.A.R.P. Norland Chapter 3261.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Reeder Forbes, whom he married
in 1992; one son, Gregory Forbes of Chambersburg; one step-daughter, Joyce A. Pentz of Mercersburg, Pa.; two step-sons, Robert F. Rhodes of Marion, Pa., and Richard H. Rhodes of Mercersburg; one sister, Mildred Besecker of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and ten step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church of St. Thomas. The Rev. Paul F. Crawford, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, near Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg and Wednesday one hour prior to the services.
Members of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 will also conduct military graveside services.

James A. McKean

Born March 28, 1926, in the Gap Area of Quincy Township, Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert C. and Mary E. Charleston McKean.
He attended Blue Rock School.
He was retired in 1970 from Letterkenny Army Depot as a truck driver in the ammunition department. Prior to that he was employed at Frick Company, Waynesboro.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Mont Alto.
He was a member of Acacia Lodge 155 F&AM, Thurmont, Md., Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg, South Penn Scottish Rite Club, Greencastle, Pa., and Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen L. Smith McKean, whom he married
in 1948; four daughters, Velia E. Blizzard, and Francine I. Heinbaugh, both of Waynesboro, Joyce A. Emory of Rouzerville, and Edna M. McCardell of Mont Alto; one son, Dale C. McKean of Waynesboro; one grandson whom he raised, Ronald. L. Misner, Jr.; one sister, Martha M. Michalsky of Waynesboro; one brother, Robert C. McKean, Jr., of Waynesboro; 12 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Julia McKean and Tina McKean; one son, Ira David McKean; one sister; Elizabeth Buhrman; two brothers, Howard McKean and Harry McKean; one grandson, and one granddaughter.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Central Baptist Chapel. The Rev. Ron. H. Skidmore will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, 6025 Anthony Highway, Mont Alto, PA 17268 or Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
It was his request to have his body donated for medical research.
