Charles H. Doughten

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Charles H. Doughten, 74, of 182 E. Main St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Feb. 7, 1924, in Millerstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles R. and Minnie M. Martin Doughten.

He retired in February 1980 from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. He then was employed by Chambersburg Burial Vault Co., Fayetteville, and worked at Kenny's Market, Chambersburg.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, where he was a greeter and an usher.

He was a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, and George Washington Lodge 143 F & AM, all of Chambersburg; Harrisburg Consistory of Harrisburg, Pa.; Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224 and AARP Chapter 2840, both of Chambersburg; Mercersburg Sportsman's Association; and National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1063 of Chambersburg.

He had volunteered with Chambersburg Toy Mission.

He is survived by his wife, Isabelle Miner Doughten, whom he married Jan. 1, 1949; a daughter, Debra A. MacWilliams of Chambersburg; a sister, Dorothy A. Flora of Red Bluff, Calif.; a brother, Leland Doughten of Mooresville, N.C.; a granddaughter; a grandson; nine nieces; and five nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Doughten.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Scott Ogden will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, with military graveside services by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Members of George Washington Lodge 143 F & AM will conduct a masonic service immediately before the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 61 W. Main St., Fayetteville, PA 17222; or to Chambersburg Toy Mission, P.O. Box 137, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

V. Gail Andrews

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - V. Gail Andrews, 87, a resident of The Inn at Luther Ridge, and formerly of 7003 Molly Pitcher Highway, Shippensburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born July 2, 1911, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Emma I. Brechbiel Immel.

Her husband, Frank M. Andrews, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1976.

She attended the former Penn Hall Girls Preparatory School in Chambersburg.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Greenvillage, Pa., Ladies Aide Society, and volunteered with the church's Cub Scout program.

She knitted receiving blankets for Pregnancy Ministry in Chambersburg.

She was a former member of Franklin County Farm Women.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas M. Andrews and James R. Andrews, both of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. John R. Springer will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Inn at Luther Ridge, 2735 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Marjorie E. Bruck

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Marjorie E. Bruck, 77, of 1499 Linden Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at her home.

Born May 17, 1921, in Wood, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David M. and Martha Jane Norris Spencer.

She was a homemaker.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by four daughters, Connie Piper, Donna Tucker and Judy Wagaman, all of Chambersburg, and Linda Miller of Concord, Pa.; a son, Fred Bruck of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 16 brothers and sisters, and a grandson.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, Pa. The Rev. Arthur Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Path Valley Cemetery in Dry Run.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home today from noon to 2 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Home Care Services - Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Dennis P. Frisby

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Dennis P. Frisby, 55, of Karper Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at his home.

Born Feb. 17, 1943, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late George R. and Elsie May Burhanan Frisby.

He was employed for 31 years by Mercersburg Tannery. He was last employed by Mount Brook Orchards in St. Thomas, Pa.

He was a member of Clayton Memorial Church of God in Mercersburg.

He is survived by a daughter, Denise Herbert of Philadelphia; three sisters, Naomi F. Knapper and Wanda Quivers, both of Chambersburg, and Gloria D. Frisby of Mercersburg; and four brothers, Melvin E. Frisby, Donald R. Frisby and Richard L. Frisby, all of Mercersburg, and Douglas E. Frisby of Harrisburg, Pa.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Clayton Memorial Church of God in Mercersburg. The Rev. Kelly Shope will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Union Cemetery, Mercersburg.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg.

Irving L. Shuffler Jr.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Irving Luther Shuffler Jr., 82, of 571 S. Main St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at his home.

Born Oct. 10, 1916, in Frederick County, Md., he was the son of the late Irving Luther Shuffler Sr. and Mary Katherine Crawford Shuffler.

He was a 1934 graduate of Frederick High School.

He was a radio announcer on WFMD, 930 AM, in Frederick under the name of Charles Mausby from 1932 through 1936.

He retired from Western Maryland/Chessie Railway System in 1981 after 32 years as a centralized traffic controller.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force with the 2nd Air Division, 8th Air Force from Dec. 7, 1942 to May 8, 1945.

He was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church in Frederick.

He is survived by his former wife, Mavin Lorraine Keplinger Shuffler, whom he married in 1946; three sons, Douglas M. Shuffler of Abbottstown, Pa., Karl Juan Shuffler of Houston and Thomas M. Shuffler of Waynesboro, Pa.; two granddaughters; a grandson; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Chambersburg Bible Church, 810 Orchard Drive, Chambersburg. The Rev. John R. Springer will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Thomas M. Shuffler, Lot 1, 14328 Buchanan Trail East, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
