WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mary C. Knott Baker, 80, a resident of Greaton House, and formerly of 17-A W. North St., Waynesboro, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Oct. 12, 1917, in Shady Grove, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Bernard Walter and Elizabeth M. Cordell Knott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle W. Baker Sr., in 1995. They were married
Sept. 2, 1939.
She attended Brown's Mill School, Kauffman Station, Pa.
She had been employed as a machine operator at Stanley Co., Chambersburg, Pa. Prior to retiring in 1976, she was employed at Connie's Sportswear, Waynesboro as a floor lady.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, and taught Sunday school in the primary department.
She was a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 Ladies Auxiliary, Waynesboro.
She is survived by four sons, Merle W. Baker Jr. of State College, Pa., Eugene W. Baker of Waynesboro, Paul W. Baker of Merritt Island, Fla., and Douglas L. Baker of Riverview, Fla.; four sisters, Araminta E. Wallech of Hagerstown, Anna E. Leidig of Alexandria, Pa., Doreen L. Roub of Baltimore and Janet E. Zeigler of Waynesboro; five brothers, Ralph E. Knott of Lexington, Ind., Glen L. Knott of York, Pa., Paul E. Knott and Norman C. Knott, both of Waynesboro, and Charles L. Knott of Huntsville, Ala.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret L. Thomas, Dorothy H. Knott and Jean M. Calimer; and three brothers, Marlin W. Knott, Kenneth M. Knott and Donald L. Knott.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Lynn D. Trutt will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 104 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.
Damaris C. DeLeon
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Damaris Chacon DeLeon, infant daughter of Elmer DeLeon and Enma Chacon, of 302 E. Queen St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died shortly after birth, Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Vanessa Chacon DeLeon and Gladys Chacon DeLeon, both at home; paternal grandmother, Elisa Lopez of Chambersburg; and maternal grandparents, Carmen Billagran and Robert Chacon, both of Guatemala.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. David Mazariegos will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
Jacob J. Thompson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jacob J. "Gus" Thompson, 70, of 4275 New Franklin Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 3, 1928, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late William H. and Lelia Harshman Thompson.
He worked at Landis Machine Co., Waynesboro, Pa., as a machinist for 27 years, retiring in 1990. Formerly, he worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad, and on his father-in-law's farm.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.
He was a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, Waynesboro; Frank Carbaugh American Legion Post 373, Greencastle, Pa.; Mercersburg, Pa. Sportsman Association; and Waynesboro Fish and Game Association.
He is survived by his wife, Lois J. Woods Thompson, whom he married
July 24, 1953; two sons, Gary L. Thompson and Dale E. Thompson, both of Chambersburg; two sisters, June Beaver of Chambersburg and Edna Denning of New Mexico; and a brother, Samuel Thompson of Hagerstown.
He was preceded in death by three sisters; and two brothers.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Robert L. Basom will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Fleda F. Bakner

Born April 17, 1928, in South Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Armatha Baker Meadows.
She attended South Mountain schools.
She was employed at Samuel Dixon State Hospital, South Mountain, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of Blue Ridge Sportsmen's Club; Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 Ladies Auxiliary, Waynesboro, Pa.; AFSCME Retirees Association; and National AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Richard Bakner, whom she married
Dec. 22, 1973; two daughters, Linda K. Kiehl and Judy D. Brown, both of South Mountain; a son, Herman K. Voss Jr. of South Mountain; four stepdaughters, Victoria Flagle of Tomstown, Pa., Penny Rhine of Waynesboro, Bonnie Stine of South Mountain and Donna DeMore of Mont Alto, Pa.; two stepsons, Robert Bakner of Tomstown and David Bakner of Waynesboro; 19 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Howell.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Wayne L. Kuhns and Pastor Nelson H. Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy, Pa.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Alberta C. Kauffman

She is survived by a brother, Richard Plummer of Pittsburgh; nieces; nephews; a great-niece and great-nephews.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Donald Kechner and the Rev. Wagner Chaplains will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Daniel S. Pluta
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Daniel S. Born Aug. 26, 1940, in Gibbons Glade, Md., he was the son of Joseph Pluto of Farmington, Pa., and the late Virginia Carley Pluto.
He was a truck driver for Roadway Express, retiring in August 1997.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1975.
He was a member of McConnellsburg American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy L. Ficks Pluta, whom he married
in 1962; four daughters, Lisa Lamar of San Diego, Angela Shoemaker of Mercersburg, Pa., Patricia Kabler and Brenda Deshong, both of Greencastle, Pa.; a son, Daniel Pluta II of Harrisonville, Pa.; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg. Lee Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Harrisonville.
The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
