BIG COVE TANNERY, Pa. - Shirley A. Born July 14, 1935, in Cito, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Coyle and Lucinda Alexander Buterbaugh.
She worked as a seamstress at Sagner, McConnellsburg and Waynesboro Knit, Waynesboro, Pa.
She was a member of Laurel Ridge Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Edwards, whom she married
in October 1965, two daughters, Tammy Sweger of Waterfall, Pa. and Wanda Edwards of Big Cove Tannery; two sisters, Catherine DeShong of McConnellsburg and Betty Carbaugh of Needmore, Pa.; five brothers, Jim Buterbaugh of Lancaster, Pa., Bud Buterbaugh of Harrisonville, Pa., Jack Buterbaugh of Knobsville, Pa., Scott Buterbaugh of McConnellsburg and Donald Buterbaugh of Needmore; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville. Pastor Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Thomas E. Allen
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Thomas E. Allen, 70, of Caledonia Manor Nursing Home, and formerly of 331 N. Franklin St., Chambersburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Aug. 28, 1928, in Shippensburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank Sr. and Gertrude Mills Allen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty S. Shoemaker Allen, in 1989.
He attended Milton S. Hershey School for Boys in Hershey, Pa.
He worked for T.B. Woods in Chambersburg as a machinist for 28 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, Chambersburg.
He is survived by a daughter, Darlene Kaye Flory of Chambersburg; a son, Carlson E. Allen of Burke, Va.; a sister, Joy Lytle of Shippensburg; three brothers, Frank Allen Jr. and William Allen, both of Chambersburg, and Leon Allen of Zullinger, Pa.; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842 will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
Jacob J. Thompson

Clara A. Stoutamyer
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Clara A. Stoutamyer, 94, a resident of Piney Mountain and formerly of 3807 Wayne Road, Chambersburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at Piney Mountain.
Born Dec. 2, 1903, in Staunton, Va., she was the daughter of the late Emory W. and Daisey F. Hollinger Hartman.
She was a graduate of Chambersburg High School; and Huntingdon College, Huntingdon, Ind.
She became an elementary school teacher in Virginia. When she moved to Chambersburg, she was first employed at the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg. She was later employed as a teacher at New Franklin Elementary School, New Franklin, Pa. She retired in 1974.
She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, Chambersburg. She maintained a record of perfect attendance at the church for 44 years. She taught Sunday school at the church for 40 years.
She also was a member of Sunshine Sunday School Class; and Women's Missionary Society.
She is survived by her husband, Roy B. Stoutamyer Sr., whom she married
April 20, 1929; a daughter, Glenna L. Michael of Chambersburg; two sons, Roy B. Stoutamyer Jr. and Carroll H. Stoutamyer, both of Chambersburg; two sisters, Bertha V. Garnish of Newport, Pa., and Isabel Allison of Chambersburg; a brother, Harold Hartman of Florida; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister; and two brothers.
Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Patrick B. Jones and the Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Piney Mountain, 6375 Chambersburg Road, Fayetteville, Pa. 17222; or King Street United Brethren Church, 172 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
Kathryn M. Hartman
QUINCY, Pa. - Kathryn M. Born June 19, 1911, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James Leslie and Sudie R. Needy Embly.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene B. Creager, in 1945. They were married
in 1938. She also was preceded in death by her second husband, Herman H. Potter, in 1973. They were married
in 1947. She was preceded in death by her third husband, Clarence J. Hartman, in 1990. They were married
in 1981.
She worked as a clerk in the sewing department at J.J. Newberry's in Waynesboro, retiring in 1973 after 24 years of service.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren of Greencastle, where she had been a member of the Berean Sunday School Class since 1961.
She is survived by a daughter, Delores A. Creager of Greencastle; a sister, Mary Eigenbrode of Waynesboro; two brothers, Richard Embly of Waynesboro and Mitchell Embly of State Line, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve West; and two brothers, Robert Embly and Ted Embly.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Church of the Brethren, 36 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Robert M. Thacker will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Washington Township, Pa.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle.

Marvin C. Sipes

Born Jan. 15, 1930, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late George Benton and Mary Elizabeth Beatty Sipes.
He was an equipment operator for Fairview Orchards and several local orchards, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Black Oak Mennonite Church, Warfordsburg, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Clem Sipes of Needmore, whom he married
Jan. 17, 1951; a daughter, Mary Jane McCusker Vogt of Berkeley Springs; three sons, Robert William Sipes Sr. of Chambersburg, Pa., Warren Clay Sipes of Needmore and the Rev. Roger Lee Sipes of Chicago; two sisters, Alice Lease of Paw Paw, W.Va., and Pearl Hartman of Keyser, W.Va.; a brother, Ernest H. Sipes Sr. of Hancock; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Douglas Sipes; a sister, Nellie Hartman; and two brothers, Percy Sipes and Elmer Sipes.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Black Oak Mennonite Church. The Revs. Clyde Moseman, Richard Rutherford and Roger L. Sipes will officiate. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock; and Monday one hour prior to the services at the church. The funeral home will be open today from noon to 9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Black Oak Mennonite Church Cemetery Fund, Route 1 Box 1350, Warfordsburg, Pa. 17267.
