MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Mildred I. Fry, 88, of Mechanicsburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, October 22, at Carlisle Hospital.
Born Sept. 1, 1910, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Betty E. Lohman Churchey.
She was a former member of Sharpsburg Church of God Maryland.
She was a member of First Church of God Mechanicsburg and TMTM Sunday School class; and Church of God Women's Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. "Red" Fry.
She is survived by a son, Griggs Cooke of Mechanicsburg; three sisters, Sara Poffenberger and Ida Miller, both of Hagerstown, and Martha Snyder of Lykens, Pa.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at First Church of God Mechanicsburg. The Rev. Robert Malick will officiate.
The viewing will be Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1:45 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
Memorial donations may be made to First Church of God Mechanicsburg, Building Fund, 28 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg, Pa. 17055.
Raymond G. Amicone
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Raymond G. Amicone, 77, of 2956 Roosevelt Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sept. 12, 1921, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Vincent A. and Mary Serpentine Amicone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth C. Reinoehl Amicone, in 1990.
He was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School, Villanova University, Philadelphia, and the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis.
He worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg, was a Eucharistic Minister; and organized the Men's Retreat at the church for years.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1426, Tarquino-Washabaugh Catholic War Veterans Post 1930, and Rocky Spring Golf Club, all of Chambersburg; United States Golf Association; and Falling Spring Chapter 2840 AARP, National Association of Retired Federal Employees; BPO Elks 600, and Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, all of Chambersburg.
He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Lozzi of West Chester, Pa., Teresa Black and Mary Rine, both of Chambersburg; two sons, Stephen P. Amicone of Hatboro, Pa., and John A. Amicone of Lancaster, Pa.; a brother, Richard Amicone of Philadelphia; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Monsignor Thomas R. Brenner will be celebrant. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Rosary recitation will be today at 8 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
James M. Alter
LEMASTERS, Pa. - James M. Born Feb. 21, 1974, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Michael L. and Priscilla M. Judd Alter of Lemasters.
He was a 1992 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg, Pa. In 1996, he graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor of science degree.
During college, he worked part time at Philips Seeds in Greencastle, Pa.; and White Tail Ski Resort in Mercersburg.
He attended King Street United Brethren Church of Chambersburg, Pa.
He was a member of Wood Products Society.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Lisa M. Alter of Mercersburg; maternal grandparents, Joan and Harold Bender of Big Pool, Md.; his girlfriend, Stacey Stevens of Fayetteville, Pa.; two aunts; an uncle; and a great-aunt.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Warren Judd; paternal grandparents, Lee and Arria White Alter; and an uncle.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Patrick B. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Lemasters.
The viewing will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert P. Kennedy

Born March 27, 1913, in Greene Township, Pa., he was the son of the late David S. and Sarah Burkhart Paxton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Erma High Paxton, in 1990.
He was employed by Cumberland Valley Cooperative Association, headquartered in Shippensburg, Pa. He was manager of the Chambersburg Branch for 40 years retiring Feb. 1, 1979.
He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, Chambersburg for more than 45 years. He served on the official board for 28 years. He was president of the Men's Bible Class for eight years and vice president for 10 years. He also served as chief usher for more than 30 years.
He served on the board of Occupational Services in Chambersburg for 15 years; was a charter member and chairman of Guilford Township Sewer Authority for 21 years; a charter member and assistant treasurer of Guilford Township Water Authority for 31 years; he was a member of Chambersburg Mall Walkers; American Association of Retired Persons; and Golden Agers Bowling Leagues.
He is survived by a sister, Margaret V. Lehman of Chambersburg; a brother, Jesse A. Paxton of Chambersburg; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at King Street United Brethren Church, 172 E. King St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Patrick B. Jones and the Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The viewing will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg; and Sunday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Victoria L. Hartman

Born April 29, 1925, in Rouzerville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence O. and Mary Schull Barkdoll.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Mowen, in 1943. He was killed during World War II in Italy. They were married
in January 1943.
She attended Washington Township High School.
She was a clerk at Becker's Super Thrift, later Elower's Super Thrift, in Rouzerville since 1966; retiring in 1981.
She was a life member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rouzerville.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by her second husband of more than 51 years, C. Richard Hartman, two daughters, Karol Minnick of Waynesboro and Jo Ellen Hartman of Rouzerville; two sons, Timothy Hartman of Waynesboro and Steven Hartman of Summerville, S.C.; a sister, Mary DeVries of Somerset, Va.; a brother, John Barkdoll of Rouzerville; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Mullican, Nettie Tracey and Ruth Flurie; and four brothers, Robert Barkdoll, Ira Barkdoll, Paul Barkdoll and George Barkdoll.
Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, on Old Route 16, Rouzerville. The Rev. David L. Hefner will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends Sunday following the services in the social hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Franklin County Area Agency on Aging, 218 N. Second St., Chambersburg, PA. 17201; or Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA. 17201.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
