FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Lee Ray Etter, 69, a resident of Caledonia Manor and formerly of 5400 Lincoln Way East, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at Caledonia Manor.
Born May 10, 1929, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late O.C. and Helen Etter.
He retired, after 30 years of service, from Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, Pa.
He served with the U.S. Army, during World War II.
He was a member of Scotland United Methodist Church, Scotland, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Lenora Uncles Etter, whom he married
Oct. 10, 1981; a daughter, Linda Fetterhoff of Greencastle, Pa.; three sons, Joseph Vall of Salina, Kan., Philip Lansberry of Indiana, Pa., and Ben Lansberry of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a sister, Elise of Harrisburg, Pa.; a brother, Lynn Etter of Shippensburg, Pa.; five granddaughters; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Charles L. Kind will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery.
The viewing will be Monday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mildred I. Churchey Fry
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - A viewing and graveside service for Mildred I. The Rev. Carroll Churchey will officiate.
Family and friends will meet at Sharpsburg Bible Church Fellowship Hall on Monday, following the service at the Cemetery.
George W. Walker
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - George W. Walker, of McConnellsburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998.
Born in Demopolis, Ala., he was the son of Rotha B. and Edna Ricketts Walker.
He was in law enforcement all of his life. He retired from the City of Compton, Calif., and also from the City of Alexandria, Va.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served for four years.
He was a deacon and elder of Untied Presbyterian Church in McConnellsburg.
He was a member of American Legion Post 561.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Walker; two daughters, Virginia Lee Walker and Sharon Moss, both of California; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1500 N. Second St., Harrisburg, Pa. 17102; or Memorial Fund of the United Presbyterian Church, 116 S. Second St., McConnellsburg, Pa. 17233.
Arrangements are by Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.
David R. Vitko

Born May 13, 1947, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of Steve Vitko of Berlin, Pa., and the late Kathleen Jackson Vitko.
He was employed as a park ranger by Caledonia State Park.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Carol Treby Vitko, whom he married
on Feb. 23, 1990; three daughters, Dawn Vitko, Heather Vitko and Crystal Vitko, all of Hagerstown; and three sons, David Vitko Jr. of Hagerstown, Shane Vitko and Brian Vitko, both of McConnellsburg.
Services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The Rev. Christian Elliott will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Thursday.
Bryan D. VanDyke
ROUZERVILLE, Pa. - Bryan Douglas VanDyke, 25, of 13676 Harbaugh Church Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 30, 1972, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of Mark and Bonnie VanDyke of Hanover, Pa., and Donna and Royce Harris of Mount Gilead, N.C.
He attended schools in Waynesboro, Pa., and graduated from Montgomery County Schools in Mount Gilead.
He was last employed as a gas attendant by E.C. Barnes Oil Co. Prior to that, he had a rural paper route for the Record Herald newspaper.
He was a member of Blue Ridge Sportsmen Association.
He enjoyed the Mason-Dixon Dragstrip in Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Courtney Sprenkle of Mount Gilead and Casey VanDyke of Hanover; one brother, Nicky VanDyke of Star, N.C.; a friend, Tom Larson of Waynesboro, with whom he resided; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lochstampfor Funeral Home, corner of Church and South Second streets, Waynesboro. The Rev. Edward Lochstampfor will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
He was on a lung transplant list for 2 1/2 years and the family requests contributions be made in his memory to the American Lung Association.
Clyde L. Covert
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Clyde L. Born Nov. 26, 1938, in Shade Gap, Pa., he was the son of the late Howard C. and Hazel E. Cowan Covert.
He had worked for Rockwell Construction Co. of Mercersburg, as a carpenter since 1966, until becoming disabled recently.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Greencastle Church of God, Greencastle, Pa.
He was a member of Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, Mercersburg.
He hunted and did woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie M. Keefer Covert, whom he married
on Aug. 19, 1961; one daughter, Debra L. Ankerbrand of Mercersburg; three sisters, Eleanor Johnson of Greencastle, Ruth Hess of Chambersburg, Pa., and Jean Hayes of Virginia Beach, Va.; three brothers, Cloyd L. Covert of McConnellsburg, Pa., Fred E. Covert and Charles D. Covert, both of St. Thomas, Pa.; and one granddaughter.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Greencastle Church of God, 4480 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle. The Rev. Floyd E. Myers and the Rev. W. David Kent will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. Graveside military services will be conducted by Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard of Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Greencastle Church of God, 4480 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, PA 17225.
