Philip E. Donatelli

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Philip Edward Donatelli, 64, of 603 Philadelphia Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Aug. 5, 1934, in Roseto, Pa., he was the son of the late Martin L. and Virginia Dell Donatelli.

He received an undergraduate degree from Moravian College in 1957 and his graduate degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1968.

He was a college professor at Shippensburg University for 29 years, retiring in 1997. He taught in the Geography Earth Science Department.

He was a member of the American Meteorological Society and American Association of University Professors.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Bosman Donatelli, whom he married in 1964; one daughter, Lisa Donatelli of Bethesda, Md.; and one son, Philip Donatelli of Orlando, Fla.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

A memorial service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Hough Home for Funerals, 207 Market St., Bangor, Pa. The Rev. Pryor will officiate.

Friends will be received from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg, Pa.

Edith L. Black

WATERFALL, Pa. - Edith L. Black, 76, of Witter Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at her home.

Born Nov. 14, 1921, in Wells Township, Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Levi and Frances Kirk Stunkard Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd W. Black, in 1989.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia E. Pittack of Moscow, Pa.; four sons, Kenneth W. Black and Cary Black, both of Waterfall, Ronald M. Black of Wells Tannery, Pa., and Frederick N. Black of Hustontown, Pa.; two brothers, Harry Johnson of Wells Tannery and Richard Johnson of Chambersburg, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd Vaughn Black; one sister and three brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg, Pa. The Rev. Charles F. Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in Center Methodist Cemetery, Waterfall.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Thursday. The funeral home will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

William L. Peterson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - William L. Peterson, 58, of 4581 Coontown Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at his home.

Born Dec. 11, 1939, in Huntingdon, Pa., he was the son of the late Ivan D. and Hazel Morrow Peterson.

He was a 1957 graduate of Orbisonia (Pa.) High School.

He was employed as a motor vehicle operator at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for 20 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of Chambersburg Club; Marine Corps League; Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 842; BPO Elks 600; Hume-McNeal-Byers AMVETS Post 224; Veterans of the Vietnam War Post 41; and 40 and 8 Club, all of Chambersburg; Wesley Yeager American Legion Post 606, Fort Loudon, Pa.; and American Legion Post 612, St. Thomas, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Janis S. Schmidt Peterson of Pasadena, Texas; one son, William L. Peterson of Mercersburg, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Kellie J. Reece of Chambersburg; one stepson, Grant P. Schmidt of Houston; one sister, Deborah Morrow of Phoenix; two brothers, Robert D. Peterson Sr. of Chambersburg and John E. Peterson of Blairs Mills, Pa.; and two step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. John F. Fueller will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Margaret M. Dayton

Born June 29, 1918, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Laura Koontz Mayer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald G. Dayton, in 1985.

She was employed by Chambersburg Area School District at Scotland Elementary School cafeteria for 34 years.

She was a member of Scotland United Methodist Church, Scotland.

She was a member of TOPS Club, Scotland; Golden Age Club and AARP Falling Spring Chapter 2840, both of Chambersburg.

She is survived by four daughters, Joyce Tucker of Goose Creek, S.C., Judy Shoemaker of Chambersburg, Janice Hairston of Columbus, Ohio, and Jo Ann Peters of Scotland; three sisters, Josephine Mayer and Anna Hoover, both of Chambersburg, and Ruth Kramer of Greenbelt, Md.; one brother, Robert Mayer of Fayetteville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Charles F. Kind will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Scotland United Methodist Church, 4040 Main St., Scotland, Pa. 17254.

Warren G.H. Hoover Sr.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Warren G. Born Sept. 8, 1921, in McConnellsburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Zenith Brandt Hoover.

He was preceded in death by his wife, A. Ardema Schooley Hoover, in 1981.

He was a graduate of McConnellsburg High School.

He was employed for 18 years with James River Corp., Chambersburg, Pa., retiring in 1982. He previously was employed by Frick Co., Waynesboro, Pa.; Chambersburg Engineering Co.; and TB Woods Inc., both of Chambersburg.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion and Hume-McNeal-Byers AMVETS Post 224, both of Chambersburg; VFW Post 655 and American Legion Post 561, both of McConnellsburg.

He is survived by three daughters, Sandy F. Brookens of Fayetteville, Pa., Sharon K. Mellott and Karen M. Hamilton, both of Chambersburg; four sons, Lloyd D. Schooley of Fayetteville, Clarence "Butch" Hoover of Wadsworth, Ohio, Warren G. Hoover Jr. and John W. Hoover, both of Chambersburg; one brother, Kermit "Pete" Hoover of McConnellsburg; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a companion of 14 years, Pearl A. Souders of McConnellsburg.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Kenneth N. Brookens and the Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg. Military graveside services will be conducted by Fulton Honor Guard.

Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
