CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Walter A. "Walt" Cordell, 77, of 870 Stouffer Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Feb. 28, 1921, in St. Thomas, Pa., he was the son of the late Herbert R. and Mazie Clever Cordell.
He was a 1938 graduate of St. Thomas High School.
He retired as a driver from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1983.
He was a member of Second Evangelical Lutheran Church, was an usher, church treasurer and past president of the church council.
He was a member of Mercersburg (Pa.) Sportsman Association. He organized and was past president of the Inter-Church Bowling League.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Winifred "Winnie" D. Disert Cordell, at home; one sister of Menno Haven in Chambersburg; five brothers, Glen Cordell of Menno Haven, Irvin Cordell and Wilbur Cordell, both of Mercersburg, Bishop Merle Cordell of Chambersburg and Wayne Cordell of Greencastle, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Cordell.
Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Ruth E. Smith and Bishop Merle G. Cordell will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Second Evangelical Lutheran Church, 240 E. Washington St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
V. Merna Trimmer
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - V. Merna Trimmer, 93, of 1070 Stauffer Ave., and formerly of Arendtsville, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Feb. 7, 1905, in Center Mills, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David Daniel Sylvester and Mary Waltman Slaybaugh.
Her husband, Myles William Trimmer, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1970.
She was employed by Carrol Shoe Co. in Arendtsville and Musselman and Co. in Biglerville, Pa. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arendtsville.
She also was a member of Arendtsville Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by one son, William M. Trimmer of Greencastle, Pa.; two sisters, Chloe Cutshall and Mearl Lady, both of Biglerville; one brother, Roy Slaybaugh of Seattle; four grandchildren; and four great--grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, Pa. The Rev. Martin J. Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Arendtsville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday one hour prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 38 N. High St., Arendtsville, Pa. 17303.
Mary S. Wingert
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mary S. Shockey Wingert, 96, a resident of The Brethren Home in New Oxford, Pa., and formerly of West North Street, Waynesboro, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Dec. 7, 1901, in Wayne Heights, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Emma S. Wiles Shockey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laban R. Wingert, in 1966. They were married
March 3, 1926.
She was a 1920 graduate of Washington Township High School; and a 1921 graduate of Waynesboro Business College.
She worked as a secretary in the sales department at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro. From 1945 through 1961, she was an executive secretary for Waynesboro Area Community Chest. Prior to retiring in January 1969, she was acting executive director of the greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce.
She was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, and taught Sunday school in the kindergarten department.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan W. Straup of Fairfield, Pa.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Brent K. Driver will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Justin S. Kendall
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Justin Shane Kendall, 18, of 5761 Marsh Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Washington County Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born Feb. 22, 1980, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Dennis L. and Delores E. Hammond Kendall of Waynesboro.
He was a senior at Waynesboro Area Senior High School, and attended Franklin County Career and Technology Center, the former Franklin County Vo-Tech in Chambersburg, for one year.
He was employed part time at D.L. George and Sons, Waynesboro.
He was a member of Family Life Worship Center, Zullinger, Pa.
He worked on cars and drag raced at the Mason Dixon Speedway, Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Heather R. Kendall Poole of Waynesboro; foster grandparents, Jacob and Carol Gruver of Hagerstown; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Family Life Worship Center, Zullinger. Pastor Roger D. Cales and Pastor Corey A. Berkey will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
E. Frances Sellers

Born July 21, 1932, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mary Creager Wolff.
She was a 1950 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph S. Sellers, whom she married
April 20, 1957; two daughters, Kimberly D. Sellers of Waynesboro and Pamela A. Paretti of Chambersburg, Pa.; a son, Bradley J. Sellers of Waynesboro; two sisters; three brothers; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Memorial services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Croft Pentz will officiate.
