ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Esther M. Born June 12, 1902, in Social Island, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Fannie Shatzer Stevens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James N. Andrews, in 1958.

She worked as a seamstress for the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg, Pa.

She is survived by three daughters, Vernal Weaver of Saxton, Pa., Pauline Gift of Chambersburg and Mary Lou Haman of St. Thomas; a sister, Evelyn Rosenberry of St. Thomas; 12 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Shearer; two brothers, Merle Stevens and Norman Stevens; and a grandson.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas. The Rev. Hull Byers will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Theodore W. Summers

HUSTONTOWN, Pa. - Theodore W. Summers, 85, of HCR 73, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born June 5, 1913, in Kearny, Pa., he was the son of the late George and Rose Purcell Summers.

He was a self-employed lumberman, retiring in 1991.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Emma N. Hoffner Summers, whom he married , Feb. 16, 1944; one daughter, Beverly A. McDaid of Hustontown; one son, Theodore J. Summers of Shippensburg, Pa.; two sisters, Florence Danfelt of Saltillo, Pa., and Barbara Parks of Huntingdon, Pa.; and three brothers, Milford Summers of Hollidaysburg, Pa., George Summers of Waterfall, Pa., and Francis Kerlin of McConnellsburg; five grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Pearl Summers; one son, Edgar Summers; one sister and four brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home in Hustontown. Burial will be in Hustontown Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Frances M. McDonald

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Frances M. McDonald, 77, of 229 S. Washington St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at her home.

Born Dec. 29, 1920, in Antrim Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry Raymond and Daisy Viola Coldsmith Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmers J. "Chum" McDonald, in 1977.

She had worked in her earlier life at GEM Garment Co.; and ASBA Garment Manufacturing, both formerly of Greencastle.

She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren Church of Greencastle.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra L. Etter of State Line, Pa.; four sisters, Irene Barbuzanes and Mary Tosten, both of Greencastle, Betty Myers of State Line, and Doris Statler of Chambersburg; two brothers, Robert H. Miller and Joseph Miller, both of Greencastle; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph McDonald in 1939; and a brother, Harry J. Miller, in 1982.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Shirley J. Buchanan

STATE LINE, Pa. - Shirley J. Stoner Buchanan, 63, of 450 Hykes Road, who Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, was employed in her early life at Grubb's Diner in Mount Union, Pa. Charles W. Gardner

Born Sept. 27, 1935, in St. Thomas, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles David and Violet Mae Ricker Gardner.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was employed as a forklift operator at H.J. Heinz Co. He also worked at Knouse Food Co.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of AMVETS Post 224 of Chambersburg.

He is survived by four daughters, Darla Marsh of Fayetteville, N.C., Dixie Frederick, Lisa Gardner and Sharlie Miley, all of Chambersburg; a twin sister, Glenda Fogal of Chambersburg; 11 grandchildren; and a close friend, Barbara Gardner.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, one granddaughter and one grandson.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Lonnie Shover will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Isabel E. Knight

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Isabel E. "Bell" Knight, 84, of 357 Wolf Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Manorcare.

She was employed at the former Sam Kessinger's Grocery Store for 28 years, retiring in 1977.

She was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Veda Coupe and Ruth Watson, both of Chambersburg; one niece; one nephew; three grandnieces; three grandnephews; one great-grandniece; and two great-great-grandnephews.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Neal O. Hively will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church narthex.

Memorial donations may be made to Manorcare, 1070 Stouffer Ave., Chambersburg PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Marcella F. Stouffer

She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church.

She was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 1599, Chambersburg; AMVETS Auxiliary Post 224, Chambersburg; and American Legion Auxiliary Post 561, McConnellsburg, Pa.

She is survived by her husband, Jasper S. Stouffer Jr., whom she married Aug. 21, 1948; a daughter, Diane Schaefer of Chambersburg; a son, Michael S. Stouffer of Chambersburg; a sister, Cree Peck of Hanover, Pa.; a brother, Kenneth Johnson of Shippensburg, Pa.; five granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas, Pa.

There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg PA 17201.
