WAYNESBORO, Pa. - John A. Pike, 90, of Hoover House, 227 W. Main St., formerly of 825 Mountain View Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born May 31, 1908, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Daniel V. and Nellie F. Wiles Pike.
He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 61 years, Alma L. Grosh Pike, in 1993.
He retired in 1972 from the engineering department of Frick Co. in Waynesboro, where he was a draftsman. He had previously been employed at Victor Products in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Waynesboro.
He is survived by one daughter, Audrey E. Snyder of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
There will be no public viewing.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
William T. Grier Jr.
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - William T. Grier Jr., 76, of 1708 Gabler Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 6, 1922, in Wenatchee, Wash., he was the son of the late William T. and Helen Wragg Grier Sr.
He was a 1952 graduate of Washington State University, receiving a degree in civil engineering. He served as a tutor for the Franklin County Literacy Council for a number of years.
He was employed by LEAD for 34 years, retiring in 1984 as civilian executive assistant.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as a former council member.
He was a member of BPOE 600 Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion; a 50 year member of Riverside Masonic Lodge, Wenatchee; a past member of Greene Township Lions Club; and was active in Little League for 20 years.
Locally, he served on the Chambersburg United Way Board for a number of years; was president of Penn Central Credit Union, Harrisburg, Pa.; and served for 20 years as president of Patriot Credit Union.
He is survived by his wife, Adeline Larson Grier; a daughter, Susan T. Stein of Philadelphia; two sons, Donald T. Grier of Chambersburg and David P. Grier of Hagerstown; and five granddaughters.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Neal O. Hively will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. in Neal Chapel at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 W. Commerce St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Mary S. Gelwicks
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary S. Born Dec. 10, 1917, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Alex S. and M. Grace Phiel Smith.
She was a retired insurance agent for Strickler Insurance Co. in Chambersburg. She had previously been employed by the former L.R. Kremer Insurance Agency, Chambersburg and Tuscarora Area School District.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, where she was a member and substitute teacher of Alda Bower Sunday School Class and member of United Methodist Women.
She was a member of Detrich-Brechbill Post 612, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, St. Thomas and AARP. She also was active in Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tom D. Gelwicks of Shook Home; one daughter, Donna Fogel of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; one sister, Leona Wenger of Chambersburg; three grandchildren; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Donald C. Nolder will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eugene T. Wilders
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Eugene Thomas Wilders, 78, of 3618 West Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born April 15, 1920, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Harvey B. and Bertha M. Morrow Wilders.
He was a 1938 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
He retired on disability in 1980 from Harley-Davidson in York, Pa., where he was a machinist. Before that he was a night watchman at Frick Co. in Waynesboro.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
He attended Blue Mountain Church of God in Mercersburg, Pa.
He was a member of Dallastown American Legion Post 605, Waynesboro Fish and Game Association, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Lodge 175.
He is survived by his wife of more than 52 years, Charlotte L. Morganthall Wilders; three daughters, Lynda J. Williams of Littlestown, Pa., Kay Bream of Rouzerville, Pa. and Deborah R. Provard of Greencastle, Pa.; five sons, George F. Wilders of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., Darryl E. Wilders of Greencastle, John Tim Wilders of Mont Alto, Pa., and James G. Wilders and Keith C. Wilders, both of Waynesboro; one sister, Bessie Morris of Waynesboro; one brother, Robert Wilders of Honolulu, Hawaii; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Dale and Cynthia Middaugh; one son, Terry E. Wilders; one sister, Winifred Kelly, in 1985; and one brother, Austin Wilders, in 1991.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Herbert S. Busick will officiate. Burial will be in Fountaindale Union Cemetery, Liberty Township, Adams County, Pa.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Goldie I. Freeman

Born Jan. 8, 1905, in Tomstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Andrew B. and Elizabeth Stull Monn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertis F. Freeman, in 1971.
She was last employed by Musselman's Canning Plant in Biglerville, Pa. Previously, she worked at Waynesboro Laundry and Mont Alto (Pa.) State Nursery.
She attended Fayetteville Church of God in Fayetteville, Pa.
She is survived by six daughters, Avada P. Kline of Hagerstown, Wanda K. Busick of Greencastle, Pa., and Anna P. Carbaugh, Lona M. Bumbaugh, Mary D. Misner and Marguerite Welsh, all of Waynesboro; seven sons, Carol E. Freeman of Fayetteville, John O. Freeman of Cascade; and Charles Freeman, Franklin L. Freeman, David G. Freeman, Robert H. Freeman and Allen C. Freeman, all of Waynesboro; two sisters, Alverta Matthews and Barbara Summers, both of Waynesboro; 55 grandchildren; 108 great-grandchildren; 59 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Bertis M. Freeman and Stanford Freeman; five sisters, Marie Tarman, Ida Gossert, Lillie Welsh, Grace Freeman and Mary Mentzer; and one brother, John Monn.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Fairview Chapel, 8964 Capital Hill Road, Tomstown, Pa. The Rev. Wayne L. Kuhns and the Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro.
