Ernest L. Frank

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ernest L. Frank, 66, of 120 Milhouse Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Nov. 10, 1932, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Fred K. and Grace E. Crusey Frank.

In 1953 he began working for Franklin Feed and Hardware as a laborer. He became manager in 1970 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1995. He was named Boss of the Year in 1987 by the Professional Business Womens Association.

He was a National Guard Veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Germany.

He was a member of First Church of God in Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Hendershot, whom he married June 30, 1973; three daughters, Vickie L. Witter of Fayetteville, Pa., Marla L. Minnich of Waynesboro, Pa., and Jodi H. Zeis of Chambersburg; one son, Douglas K. Frank of Hanover, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Roxanne M. Bricker of Chambersburg; one stepson, R. Franklin Rockwell of St. Thomas, Pa.; one sister, Ethel G. Frank Ruby of Chambersburg; three brothers, Fred K. Frank Jr., Charles W. Frank and Donald R. Frank, all of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Church of God in Chambersburg. The Rev. Earl Mills and the Rev. Trevor Rosenberry will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg, with military graveside services conducted by Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family will receive friends at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Gerald A. Martinelli Jr.

STATE LINE, Pa. - Gerald A. "Jerry" Martinelli Jr., 21, of 15435 Martinelli Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in Washington County Hospital.

Born June 23, 1977, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of Gerald A. Sr., and Katena M. Zeger Martinelli of State Line.

He graduated from the Greencastle-Antrim High School in 1995. He attended the Franklin County Vo-Tech School, Chambersburg.

He worked at Jerr-Dan Corp., Greencastle, Pa., in the paint shop.

He was a member of Saint Mark's Catholic Church, Greencastle.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, James H. Martinelli of State Line; girlfriend Kelly L. Walker of Mercersburg; maternal grandparents, Herman L. and Thelma J. Hanks Zeger of Fort Loudon; paternal grandparents, James J. and Evelyn L. Fiano Martinelli of State Line; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mark's Catholic Church, Greencastle, with the Rev. Joseph L. Stahura as celebrant and the Rev. Ron Cook assisting. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, PA 17225.

Gary C. Whitfield

BROAD TOP CITY, Pa. - Gary C. Whitfield, 58, of P.O. Box 165, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at 1889 Johnson Road, Chambersburg, where he was residing briefly.

Born June 3, 1940, in Broad Top City, Pa., he was the son of the late Earl and Roberta Williams Whitfield.

He owned and operated Whitfield's Tree Service in Chambersburg, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Open Door Church in Chambersburg, and attended Freedom in Christ Church in Chambersburg.

He had been active in Franklin County, Pa., politics.

He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Schuchman Whitfield, whom he married Nov. 14, 1959; one daughter, Lisa M. Pogue of Fayetteville, Pa.; one son, Gary L. Whitfield Sr. of Chambersburg; seven sisters, Sharyle Goshen, Carol Shetter, Darlene Fordyce and Pat Keith, all of Chambersburg, Harriet McCleaf of Fairfield, Pa., Shirley Flook of Camp Hill, Pa., and Donna Burns of Fayetteville, Pa.; two brothers, G. Craig Whitfield and Robert Whitfield, both of Chambersburg; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Sidney Whitfield.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George R. Pogue Sr. and the Rev. Arthur Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg.

Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Kerry N. Seiders

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -Visitation for family and friends of Kerry N. John J. Royer

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - John J. "Jake" Royer, 87, of 7026 Buchanan Trail West, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Oct. 1, 1911, in Montgomery Township, Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Victor and Bess Garns Royer.

He farmed. He later was a Montgomery Township supervisor. He was last employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a foreman for 12 years.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, Clarence Armstrong V.F.W. Post 6241, and Mercersburg Moose Lodge 1790, all of Mercersburg; James McKibben American Legion Post 561 in McConnellsburg; FOE 516 of Renova, Pa.; and BPOE Lodge 378, Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, M. Lorraine Clopper Royer, whom he married Feb. 17, 1944; three daughters, Donalee Ruth Bear of Chambersburg; Sue Royer of Mercersburg, and Deborah Ferrier of Crawford, Colo.; one son, John V. Royer of Mercersburg; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. W. David Kent will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, with a military graveside service by Fulton Honor Guard of McConnellsburg.

There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Doris G. Ford

WELLS TANNERY, Pa. - Doris Geneva Ford, 71, of R.D. 2, Box 62, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at home.

Born March 3, 1927 in Six Mile Run, Bedford County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Gertie Reed Fisher.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Wells Valley Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Ford, whom she married Nov. 2, 1945; four sons, Leonard P. Ford, Dennis Ray Ford, Brian K. Ford and Karlin J. Ford, all of Wells Tannery; one sister, Martha V. Fisher Knepper of McConnellsburg, Pa.; one brother, Richard Fisher of Robertsdale, Pa.; one grandchild, and four step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

A religious service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa., with Pastors Sam Stoey and Neil Daetz officiating.

Interment will be at Wells Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, Wells Tannery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
