Born April 24, 1918, in Harrisonville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Kline.
She was an LPN and worked at the former Decker Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church.
She is survived by her husband, Durkee J. Bard; three daughters, Ramona Geiman of Chambersburg, Guynethia G. Bard of McConnellsburg, and Raneeta DeShong of Selinsgrove, Pa.; one sister, Dolly Small; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church, Harrisonville, Pa., with the Rev. Willis Swope officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Amanda J. Downey
HAVERTOWN, Pa. - Amanda Jo "Mandy" Downin Downey, 26, of 1120 Bon Air Road, and formerly of Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at Mercy Community Hospital in Havertown.
Born Aug. 29, 1972, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Susan M. Gordon Downin of Waynesboro, Pa., and H. John Downin of Greenville, N.C.
She was a 1990 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School and a 1995 graduate of Shippensburg University with a bachelor of science degree in psychology.
She was a senior project research associate with the Institute of Biological Research and Development in Blue Bell, Pa.
She attended First United Methodist Church of Greencastle and taught Sunday school, and St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Broomall, Pa.
She was a member of Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in Gettysburg, Pa. While in high school she played softball, volleyball, track and basketball.
She was a member of Alpha Sigma Sorority at Shippensburg University, and Ladies Auxiliary of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319 in Greencastle.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Paul Vincent Downey, whom she married
Nov. 1, 1997; one sister, Monica S. Eshleman of Greencastle; two brothers, Harry John Downin II and Richard W. Downin, both of Greencastle; her stepmother, Noreen K. Downin of Greenville; and cousins.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. Pastor Richard Overcash will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
The family will receive friends at O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Road, Springfield, Pa., on Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.; and at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home in Greencastle on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Marvin L. Sheffield

Born June 10, 1934, in Fort Littleton, Pa., he was the son of the late Lester and Daisy Gordon Sheffield.
He worked at the former Mack Horton Building Supply, McConnellsburg. He retired in 1995 from Moore's Building Supply, Chambersburg, Pa.
He attended Cito United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg.
He was a life member of McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co.; a member of Central District Volunteer Fireman's Association; and Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Seiders Sheffield, whom he married
May 15, 1954; a daughter, Jill Peck of McConnellsburg; a son, Mark Sheffield of McConnellsburg; three brothers, Kenneth W. Sheffield and Gail Sheffield, both of McConnellsburg, and James C. Sheffield of Camp Hill, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Troy Scott Sheffield; a sister, and a brother.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, Pa. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.
Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home; and Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Theda M. DeShong

Born Oct. 18, 1940, in Hancock, she was the daughter of Kenneth E. and Francis I. Lewis of McConnellsburg.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, McConnellsburg.
She is survived by her husband, Lindy E. DeShong, whom she married
Aug. 25, 1957; three daughters, Mannasseh I. Atkins and Deborah L. Yanosik, both of Harrisonville, and Ruth A. Strait of McConnellsburg; a sister, Phebe A. Iden of Falling Waters, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, McConnellsburg. Bishop K. Paul Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The funeral home will be open Thursday from 2 p.m.
Paul J. Webb
QUINCY, Pa. - Paul J. Webb, 78, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of Arlington, Va., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.
Born July 13, 1920, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Mary Ellen Murphy Webb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille D. Dorsey Webb, in 1990. They were married
Dec. 8, 1942.
He was a 1938 graduate of Waynesboro High School. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
He served with the 8th Army-Air Force during World War II; and was stationed in London, England, from 1941 through 1945. He attained the rank of technical sergeant.
He was the chief negotiator for the U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, under the direction of the Secretary of the Navy. He retired after 27 years with the federal government.
He was a member of Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Waynesboro; and in Arlington, he was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He was ordained to the permanent deaconate.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus and BPO Elks Lodge, both in Arlington; a life member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15; and William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, both of Waynesboro.
He is survived by a brother, Albert Francis Webb of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Cecelia Elizabeth Webb; and three brothers, Joseph H. Webb, Andrew E. Webb and Donald R. Webb.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro. Father Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro, with military services by Honor Guard of Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Benevolent Fund of Quincy United Methodist Home, P.O. Box 128, Quincy, PA 17247; or Building Fund of St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
