Born on March 5, 1943, in Johnson City, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Margaret Schettig Yanosky. She was the wife of William T. Mooney, her husband of 15 years. She was retired as a dental assistant, but mainly was a homemaker. She was a member of St. David's United Church of Christ in Hanover and she enjoyed sewing, baking, traveling, and especially playing with the grandchildren and her great-grandson. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Barbara Davis, Abingdon, Md.; daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Kevin Peck, Sykesville, Md. and Jacqueline and Danny Shugars, Westminster, Md.; siblings, David Yanosky, Mesa, Ariz.; Judy Garvey, Mesa, Ariz.; and Ronald Yanosky of Longmont, Colo.; grandchildren, Tina, Ricky, Daniel, Stephanie, Matthew, Brendon, Jennifer, Danny Jr., Katarina, Jason, and Daniel; great-grandson, Hank; and by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. David's United Church of Christ, 142 Hobart Rd., Hanover, Pa. 17331 with her pastor, Rev. Scott Sager officiating. Interment will be in St. David's UCC Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, Md., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., please use the chapel entrance, and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. SEKELA - Andy, 84, Windber, went to be with the Lord, July 27, 2007, at the Regional Hospice of Windber. Born Dec. 1, 1922, son of Michael and Anna (Hodovanec) Sekela. Preceded in death by parents; infant brother, Michael; brothers, John, Michael and George Sekela; sisters, Marie Surina and Ann Antolosky. Survived by wife of 33 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Cekolj) Sekela; children, John Sekela, married
to the former Linda Shaffer, Windber; George Sekela, married
to the former Mary Oldham, Dunkirk, Md.; and Marinee (Cekolj), wife of Kenneth Temme, New Jersey; grandchildren, Michael and Todd; Julie and Laura; and Candace and Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tori, Hunter, Zach, Luke, and Bridget. Andy was the last surviving member of his immediate (Sekela) family. Retired coal miner from Jandy and Berwind White Coal Co., member of UMWA, also a member and former president of Windber Sportsman Club. Andy participated in many of the Windber Miner's Day celebrations, where he had the honor of being one of the co-grand marshals of the 2007 parade. He is part of the video presentation at the Windber Coal Museum. He was a lifetime fisherman and hunter, and many considered him to be one of the best fishermen in the area. Member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Windber. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. Brief service, 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by funeral Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Windber, the Very Rev. Gregory Michalisin. 65 years, and these children: Shirley, wife of Wesley Adams, Erie; William and wife, Deborah Settle; Margaret, wife of David Detwiler; and Mary, wife of Timothy Detwiler, all of Strongstown; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers. Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. When she enjoyed better health, she loved to spend time doing crafts. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc, Nanty Glo, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Survived by sister, Alice Sileck, Vintondalem and brother, Michael (Marge) of Michigan; as well as numerous extended family. A graduate of Vintondale High School, he served with the 94th Army Battalion during World War II. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, and taught math at Conemaugh Valley School District for 36 years before retiring in 1986. Member of SS. Peter -- Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Vintondale. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where Panachida will be sung that evening. Mr. Stevens worked as a finish carpenter for 50 years before his retirement. He was the Senior Citizen Friend and enjoyed gardening, canning and candy making. He was the son of Ralph Stevens and Selma (Waehner) Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann C. (Crossen) Stevens, on Feb. 7, 2007; a daughter, Christine Stevens; sisters, Ruth, Doretha, Pearl and Loretta; and a great-grandchild, Caleb Yacynych. Surviving are his children, Debby Yoder (Dan), Ocean City, N.J.; Dorothy Stevens, Johnstown; Ted Stevens Jr., Seoul, South Korea; Linda Keeley, Michigan; grandchildren, Shawn Borsuk, Christie (Rich) Hall, Amanda (William) Evans; all of Johnstown; Todd (Holly) Yacynych, Kempton; Nikki Yacynych, Virginia; Chad Borsuk, Ocean City, N.J.; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph (Sherry) Stevens of Arizona; three sisters, Jean Papcunik, Salix; Dolores (Ken) Steffey, and Janet (Jim) Murphy, both of Johnstown. WENDEL - F. Louise
WENDEL - F. Born May 24, 1915, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Dwight R. and Edith Ferguson Davis. She was a longtime resident of Lewistown, N.Y., and was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Wendel Sr., who had been the chairman and CEO of the Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls, N.Y. They married
on June 20, 1940, and were together until his death in 1990. Davey, as she was known by her friends, is remembered for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She was a dignified and gracious woman, who had a gift for putting people at ease and making them feel welcome. She was generous and compassionate, which was reflected in her interest of others. She was a loyal friend who was petite in size and big in heart. Anyone, who had the pleasure, will remember she made the best fried chicken, potato salad and lemon meringue pie. And those sandtart cookies at Christmas! She had a love of music, particularly classical music, and was an accomplished pianist from childhood. She told her children that they would regret giving up the piano, and she was right; she always wanted what she believed to be best for her children! She is survived by her children, Christine Wendel, Santa Fe, New Mexico; W. Hall Wendell Jr. and Jeffrey Wendel, both of Minneapolis. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Amy Wendel, Rye, N.Y.; Bryce Wendel and Sarah Wendel, both of Santa Barbara, Calif., three great-grandchildren, and three brothers, Dwight R. Davis Jr. and Lynn Davis, both of Savannah, Ga.; and Ronald Davis of San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Davis, Savannah. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service is scheduled for Aug. 4, 2007, in Johnstown. Henderson Funeral Home will be handling the arrangments.
