He was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Hastings, the son of Isadore L. and Agnes V. (Miller) Eckenrode. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgette (DeLarre) Eckenrode; his second wife, Beatrice C. (Butler) Paranich Eckenrode; brothers, Dean, Lawrence and Frank Eckenrode. He is survived by his children: John H. "Jack" (June) Eckenrode, Waldorf, Md.; Darlene (Ken) Puhatch, Altoona; stepson, Paul John (Ellen) Paranich, Clearfield County; and stepdaughter, Mary (Ron) Gates, Patton; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers, Clint, Eugene and Patrick Eckenrode; and sisters, Mary Grace Bolette, Lucy Brooks, Janet Hahn and Theresa Albers; also by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a professional truck driver for Lafferty Trucking for 33 1/2 years and was also employed with the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934 and 1935. He enjoyed carpentry and mechanics and was also a member of the Teamsters Local 110. Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service, 4 p.m. Monday at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 North Fifth Ave., Patton, Eric Barnhart, grandson of the deceased officiating. Interment, St. Benedict Cemetery.

Sister of Betty Lehman and Mary Ellen Gohn, both of Johnstown. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member and past president of Highland Women's Club, both of Camp Hill. She was a devoted and supportive military wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
