Jr., married to the former Kimberly Jacobs; Joseph A., married to the former Ann Schellhammer; and Monty A., married to the former Michelle Livingston, all of Johnstown; also four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Brother of Ronald Sodano of Santa Clara, Calif.; Doryta Fitzpatrick and Naomi Moschgat, both of Johnstown. Retired employee of 18 years from McQuaid Trucking and foreman of 28 years for the Cambria Chair Factory. At the request of the deceased, there will be no services. Born May 3, 1917, in Vintondale, daughter of the late Stephen and Johanna Nagy. Preceded in death by husband, Paul; brother, Steve, and sisters, Ann, Betty, Rose and an infant. Survived by children, Paul (Marti), Lancaster; Joanne (Ron) Empfield, Strongstown; Paula (Jim) Todd, Virginia; and Mary Ann (Francis) Patrick, Nanty Glo; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe, Mike and Jim; and sisters, Helen, Veronica, Barbara and Elaine; also many nieces and nephews. Member of St. Mary’s Church, Nanty Glo. Life member of the Nanty Glo Fire Ladies Auxiliary and longtime member of women’s bowling leagues. Mary enjoyed reading, bowling and cooking, and will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday with all her family present. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Fr. David Peles, celebrant. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery.

FIGARO - Cheryl J.
FIGARO - Cheryl J. (Halbritter), 57, Johnstown, went to be with our Lord July 10, 2007, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 13, 1949, daughter of the late Earl K. and Veneta (Sideras) Halbritter. She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Michele Haselrig and Monique Suide, both of Johnstown; brothers, Ronald Halbritter, Pittsburgh, and David Halbritter, Martinsburg; and sisters, Darlene Halbritter and Susan Patterson, both of Altoona, and Debbie Halbritter, Johnstown. Her grandchildren, Demetrius, Trey, Cantara, Carlton Jr., Carlee, Christopher, Cameron and Ciara, and her very dear friend, Sally Hudlin, all of Johnstown; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Cheryl was a 1967 graduate of Altoona Area High School and received an associate degree from South Hills College in Altoona. Before her illness, she was employed as the payroll clerk at Intermedia Marketing. There she made many dear friends that made her work a pleasure. Cheryl enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet, also she loved "them Steelers." Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of Homegoing Service at 1 p.m. at her church home, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 205 Peelor St., Prospect, the Rev. Andrew W. Tilly officiating. Moskal Funeral Home, West End, is in charge of arrangements.

GETTY - Marion, 92, Johnstown, passed away July 9, 2007, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Dec. 31, 1914, in Johnstown, daughter of late Ira F. and Florence E. (Hess) Reed. Preceded in death by husband, George A., on Dec. 17, 2004; brothers, Harold, the Rev. Dr. Ira O. and Blair I.; and sisters, Mabel C. Schrott and Ethel Mae Overdorff. Survived by children, Georgia, married to Richard Akers, Johnstown; Douglass R., married to former Janet Ray, Cincinnati; and Dr. Samuel F., married to former Ruth Spafford, New Cumberland, Pa.; grandchildren, Michelle, married to Anthony Gallo, Fairfield, Ohio; Nadine, married to David Lindquest, Cincinnati; Richard Akers, Camp Hill, Pa.; and Alexander G. and Elizabeth Getty, both of New Cumberland; great-grandchildren, Isaac Lindquest, Cincinnati; and Dominic, Alexander and Isabel Gallo, all of Fairfield; sister, Erma Shaw, and friend, Martin Ernest, Ickesburg; and sister-in-law, Ruth Reed, Johnstown. Member of Belmont United Methodist Church. Graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Retired director of libraries for Harrisburg city schools. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Belmont United Methodist Church, the Rev. Merritt Edner. Private inurnment at Richland Mausoleum. BARANIK – Mary (Hanyok)

Born on May 16, 1924, in Barnesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Patrick) Hanyok. Mary married
the late Paul Baranik in 1948 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, Gary Baranik, and daughter-in-law, Paulette Baranik. Survivors include her children, Russell Baranik, and his wife, Eileen, of Las Vegas; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Baranik and Christopher Baranik, and his wife, Andrea; her daughter-in-law, Doris Baranik; her brothers and sisters, John Hanyok, Bob Hanyok, Fran Young, Helen Novak, Marge Kostick and Betty Karanick, and many nieces and nephews. Mary retired from the restaurant industry in Brooklyn. She graduated from Barnesboro High School and loved to travel and visit her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed writing letters and sending cards to keep in touch with her family and friends. She also loved flowers, nature, reading and listening to music. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls, N.Y. 12803. Prayer services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Deacon William Bazinet officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

BROOKS – Dorothy H.
BROOKS – Dorothy H., 90, of Jackson Township, passed on Aug. 31, 2007, at her residence. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Barron K. Deffenbaugh officiating. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, Central Region, Cambria Unit, 351 Budfield St., Johnstown, Pa. 15904 in memory of Dorothy.

EVANS – William R. “Bill”
EVANS – William R. “Bill,” 67, of Colver, was released from this life and flew home to be with the Lord on Aug. 31, 2007. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
