Preceded in death by parents; brothers, John Jr., Joseph A., Michael T. and Steve F. Kohler; and sister, Anna (Kohler) Siska. Survived by son, Robert J. Kohler of Windber, and grandchildren, David M. Kohler and Teresa M. Kohler. Also survived by brother, George Kohler, and wife Betty, Windber; sister-in-law, Mary Kohler, Windber; and numerous nieces and nephews. Retired waitress from Monte Carlo Restaurant, Johnstown, and former employee of Johnny Jacks Sewing Factory, Windber. Member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Windber, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Matthew Misurda. Committal, church Cemetery, east end. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regional Hospice of Windber in Mary’s memory.
REBER – Edward Todd “Ted”
REBER – Edward Todd “Ted,” 39, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and formerly of Patton, passed away Aug. 27, 2007, in Colorado Springs. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery.

Survived by loving wife of 56 years, Antoinette (Costa) Vuletic, Johnstown; daughter, Maria, married to James E. Kiepert, Davidsville; granddaughters, Marissa and Jamie Kiepert, both of Philadelphia; brother, Miles Vuletic, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Michael Hayden, California; Samuel, married to Frances Marguccio, and Guy Marguccio, both of Johnstown; also numerous nieces and nephews. Served in the Merchant Marines, U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Retired from the Gautier Division of Bethlehem Steel. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Pete was the youngest of 12 children and the last surviving member of his immediate family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany United Methodist Church, the Rev. Frank Hodges. Committal, Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Masonic service at 7 p.m. Friday. Born July 29, 1952, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was a son of Phyllis L. Hornbaker of McConnellsburg, Pa. He was a grandson of the late Lewis H. and Eva Buterbaugh Hornbaker. A minister, he founded Tiny Land Ministries of McConnellsburg. He was a former employee of Tuscarora School District and JLG, McConnellsburg. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Catherine M. Bell Spangler Hornbaker, whom he married
June 28, 2007; eight stepchildren, 17 stepgrandchildren; sister, Cindy Straley, Saxton; and a niece, Sarah E. Short, and a great-nephew, Daniel O. Short, both of McConnellsburg. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. July 14th at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with the Rev. Larry Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mercersburg. Viewing one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
BROOKS – Dorothy H.
BROOKS – Dorothy H., 90, of Jackson Township, passed on Aug. 31, 2007, at her residence. She was Born on Jan. 16, 1917, in Pittsburgh. Daughter of Philip S. and Mary H. (Yearick) Brady. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Brooks; sisters, Barbara Johnston and Phyllis Diehl; and brothers, Joseph and Ronald Brady. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra E., wife of Ronald S. Boring; granddaughters, Cheryl Boberg, Debra Bolinger and Michelle Wright; great-grandchildren, Douglas and Jason Boberg, Candace and Monica Wright, Montana Bolinger, Cody and Shea Wright; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Henry; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, traveling and corresponding with her pen pals. She especially loved spending time with her family and will be remembered for her kind generosity. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Barron K. Deffenbaugh officiating. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Born Oct. 25, 1950, son of Edward John Sr. and Helen Chatman. Survived by two daughters, Lena Smith of Johnstown and Lisa Singleton of Houston; one sister, Pamela Chatman; and a host of family and friends, who will sadly miss him. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial homegoing service to be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Memorial Church, William Penn Avenue, Prospect, Bishop Joseph McGauley officiating. EVANS – William R. “Bill”
EVANS – William R. “Bill,” 67, of Colver, was released from this life and flew home to be with the Lord on Aug. 31, 2007. Born March 8, 1940, in Portage, son of the late Francis “Bun” and Helen (Shoemaker) Evans. Survived by wife, Helen (Shaffer) Evans; sons, William Jr. (Maria Frontino) of Woodbridge, Va.; Samuel (Reva Lythgoe) of Stafford, Va.; and Forrest (Darlene Wade) of Manassas, Va.; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Delores McAllister of Hollidaysburg; Mary Lois Rhoades of Morningside, Md.; and brother, Francis “Bunny” Evans Jr. of Easton, Md.; Also survived by brothers-in-law, Tom (Pam) Shaffer of Hollsopple; John (Jeanie) Shaffer, Houston; and sister-in -law, Alice (Dexter) Hill, Ashville, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Retired from the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., in 1980. Member of Fraternal Order of Police. Bill enjoyed working on the family farm with his wife, where he cared for his mules, pigeons, dogs and also helped with beekeeping activities with 2Cs and a Bee. He especially loved his grandchildren and spending summers with them on the farm. An avid homing pigeon racer and member of the Latrobe Racing Pigeons Club. His last act was to release his pigeons on one final training flight. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Ray Streets Jr. officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
GILES – Lois E.

Giles, whom she married
June 15, 1947; and children, Harry, Saline, Mich.; Marsha Ann, married to Angelo Adolph; Geoffrey A., married to the former Theresa Karas; and Gretchen R., married to James Smajda, all of Johnstown; grandchildren, Margaret L., married to Mathew Prochaska, Racine, Wisc.; Timothy L. Giles, Virginia Beach, Va.; Jeremy J. Metzler, Salem, Mass.; Sarah Giles and Seth P. Giles, both of Saline, Mich.; Molly M. Giles, Melissa E. Metzler, Abigail E. Smajda, Troy F. Smajda and Jonathan J. Smajda, all of Johnstown; and brothers, David Miller, Johnstown, and Donald Miller, Horseheads, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois worked as a clerk at Penn Traffic’s Budget Store. She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Circle No. 1, a Sunday school teacher, member of the chancel choir for more than 50 years, and loved singing with the Ladies Trio, and serving as a soloist for many years, and at many weddings. One of her joys was babysitting her grandchildren, reading them stories and making their favorite snacks. The yearly calendars she made will be greatly missed. She was slowed by post-polio syndrome in her later years, but still was able to listen and cheer up her friends in their trying times. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., Downtown, 514 Somerset St., and will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 111 Willow St., for the funeral service, the Rev. Paul Scruton officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to her church.
