Born March 20, 1940, in Illinois, son of the late Louis and Lucille (Fitzpatrick) Williams. He is preceded in death by his brother, Herb. He is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, the former Marie (Natcher) Scanlan, and these children: Mark (Deborah) Darwin, Geneseo, Ill.; Tracy (Charles) Weidlich, San Antonio, Texas; Donald E. Jr. (Brenda) Williams, Loretto; Cheryl (Scott) Hollingsworth, Revloc; Tricia (Jeff) Braniff, Revloc; and Greg (Tina) Scanlan, Jeffrey (Raeann) Scanlan and Brian (Carol) Scanlan, all of Ebensburg. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, one great-grandson, as well as his brother, Ronald (Linda) Williams, Davenport, Idaho. A Vietnam veteran (two tours), sergeant first class, E-7, he served a total of 37 years in the U.S. Army, both active and reserve duties. Eight of those years were served as an Army recruiter. He also served with the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was decorated with the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medals, Army Reserves Components Achievement Medal, Army Service and Army Reserve Service Ribbons, National Defense Service Medals, Vietnam Service Medals, NCO Professional Development Ribbons, Overseas Service Ribbons, Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign Medals and numerous others. He is a member of the Ebensburg Post 4963 VFW. Don also worked in the coal mines, as a mine inspector in Cambria and Somerset counties. He loved his extensive family, traveling, telling jokes and John Wayne movies. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg. Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Ebensburg United Methodist Church, the Rev. Roger Johnson and the Rev. John Bennett officiating. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery. Military graveside ritual by the Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team.

Formerly employed by Head Start. Member of SS. Gregory and Barnabas Church, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Robert L. Ruston. GETTY - Marion, 92, Johnstown, passed away July 9, 2007, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Dec. 31, 1914, in Johnstown, daughter of late Ira F. and Florence E. (Hess) Reed. Preceded in death by husband, George A., on Dec. 17, 2004; brothers, Harold, the Rev. Dr. Ira O. and Blair I.; and sisters, Mabel C. Schrott and Ethel Mae Overdorff. Survived by children, Georgia, married to Richard Akers, Johnstown; Douglass R., married to former Janet Ray, Cincinnati; and Dr. Samuel F., married to former Ruth Spafford, New Cumberland, Pa.; grandchildren, Michelle, married to Anthony Gallo, Fairfield, Ohio; Nadine, married to David Lindquest, Cincinnati; Richard Akers, Camp Hill, Pa.; and Alexander G. and Elizabeth Getty, both of New Cumberland; great-grandchildren, Isaac Lindquest, Cincinnati; and Dominic, Alexander and Isabel Gallo, all of Fairfield; sister, Erma Shaw, and friend, Martin Ernest, Ickesburg; and sister-in-law, Ruth Reed, Johnstown. Member of Belmont United Methodist Church. Graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Retired director of libraries for Harrisburg city schools. HOFFMAN - Anna Grace (Holsopple)
HOFFMAN - Anna Grace (Holsopple), 89, Sidman, formerly of Ogletown, passed away July 9, 2007, at home. Born Nov. 20, 1917, daughter of Russell and Civilla (Faust) Holsopple. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Russell "Pete" Hoffman; and siblings, Patrick, Claude, Selah, Merrill, Ray, Iva, Lola, Reynold, Verna, Leah and Harold. Anna Grace was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Ruby (Holsopple) Barclay, Harold "Bucky" Holsopple, Darla (Holsopple) Smith, Elaine (Cook) Goodrich, Cecil Cook, Clair Cook, James Cook and Joyce Reitz. Anna Grace owned and operated the Blue Moon Restaurant and Gas Station in Ogletown for many years. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meek and Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber, Pastor Jon C. Gulnac officiating. Interment, Berkey Cemetery. HRUSKA - John, 81, Johnstown, passed away July 9, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 29, 1926, in Johnstown, son of Ludwig and Mary (Kovach) Hruska. Preceded in death by parents; brothers and sisters, Louis, Mary Birch, Paul and Margaret Glacken; and grandson, Ryan Hofecker. Survived by loving wife of 47 years, the former Shirley Walls; daughter, Vicki, married to Clark Hofecker, Johnstown; son, John L., married to Michele Lampel, Hooversville; grandchildren, Cody and Kaylin Hofecker; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Hruska, Windber; Dorothy Lehman, Betty Messick, Violet Woollaston, Virginia Jakubac and Shirley Walls. Member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Past master, treasurer and life member of Greater Johnstown Masonic Lodge 538. Life member of Cambria Council 32, PTIN; Oriental Commandry 61, Knights Templar; Portage Royal Arch Chapter 195, PHP; Knight of Red Cross of Constantine/Constans Conclave; and Allied Masonic Degrees P.S. Past president of Masonic Temple board of trustees, Council of Annointed Kings of Order of Silver Trial and Conemaugh Gap York Rite College 34. Former member of Johnstown Shrine Club and Jaffa Temple. Member of Allegheny Mountain Forest 127, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and NCT Camping Club. Founder and owner of John Hruska Trucking, in 1947 with more than 60 years in business. Having served in World War II and the Korean War, he was wounded during his tour in World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart award. John loved taking his wife camping in their motorhome and taking a lot of trips. He enjoyed being around his family, especially his loving wife, children and grandchildren and enjoyed family gatherings. He loved sitting by his fireplace in his basement during the winter. In 1977, his future son-in-law, Clark, began to work with him at his family trucking business, later marrying his daughter, Vicki, who presently works for the company. Then his son, John, joined him in 1981 and eventually became president of the company after a number of years of service. He loved working with his family as the business grew over the years. He enjoyed the Masonic Order and its functions and working the dining room, having served many weddings. He enjoyed bringing treats to his grandchildren and giving them money. Kaylin couldn't wait to take Pap in her new car after she got her license. John waited each morning for his 9 a.m. phone call from his son, John, saying, "Big man." Cody was telling his Grandpap that he was going to hit a home run for him during a baseball game, and he did. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. There will be additional viewing one hour prior to funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethany United Methodist Church, the Rev. Jeff Vanderoff. Entombment, Richland Mausoleum. Military services will be conducted by Conemaugh Valley Detachment Marine Corps League.

Survived by parents and these brothers and sisters: Paul Rager and Amy Rager, both at home; and Lisa Bishop, Andy Alvarez Jr., Michael Alvarez and Andrea Colaras, all of Maryland; and maternal grandmother, Lucy Mock, Ebensburg; also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special friend, Joe Strittmatter Jr. Zach was a fourth-grade student at Central Cambria Elementary School. He enjoyed Cub Scouts, Clover 4H Club, bowling, horseback riding and working at the Strittmatter farm. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be held Thursday. Funeral Mass at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, Monsignor Timothy Swope. Committal, St. Michael’s Cemetery, Loretto.
