Survived by sister, Ruth Houston, and niece, Betty Jane Houston, both of New Florence. Member of New Florence United Methodist Church. A 1935 graduate of New Florence High School. Retired employee of Carborundum Co., Latrobe. Friends received from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, where private service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dr. Floyd A. Hall. Interment, Coles Cemetery. Ruth was an avid reader and retired having been a private duty nurse for 30 years. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Windber, the Very Rev. Protopresbyter David Smoley. Interment, Richland Cemetery. Panachida service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
PLUTA - Ann L.
PLUTA - Ann L., 79, Bay City, Mich., passed away Saturday morning, June 12, 2004, at The Carriage House of Bay City. She was Born Feb. 1, 1925, in Nanty Glo, the daughter of the late Andrew and Susie (Harmon) Toath. On Aug. 25, 1947, Ann married Steve S. Pluta in Boswell. They resided together in Jerome until moving to Saginaw, Mich., in 1964. Upon her husband's retirement, they returned to Jerome from 1982 to 2000, when they returned to Michigan and moved to Bay City. Ann was a former resident of Country Meadows in Bay City. She is survived by her husband, Steve; four children, Linda and Ed Bashans of Saginaw; Stephen and Gail Pluta of Saginaw; Patricia and Joseph Olivarez of Bay City; and Victoria Pluta of Saginaw; eight grandchildren, Susan and Brad Huffman, Lisa Sturis, Kristie and Erik Shoemaker, Michael Pluta, Jason and Pam Olivarez, Melissa Olivarez, Jeremy and Joy Pluta and Christopher Pluta; six great-grandchildren, James, Maija, Connor, McKenna, Jackson and Jeremy; and a sister, Irene Gaudlip of Johnstown. Besides her parents, Mrs. Pluta was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Pluta, in 1963; a sister, Mary Wanko; and brothers, Mike, Andy and John Toath. A memorial service will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at the Gephart Funeral Home Inc., 201 W. Midland St., Bay City, Mich. 48706, (989)686-2291. Officiating will be Sr. Kay Tardiff, S.C., chaplain of Bay Visiting Nurse and Hospice. Mrs. Pluta's remains will be interred next to her daughter, Susan, in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Jerome. SKERL - Frank A., 78, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Johnstown, passed away on June 12, 2004. Frank worked as a machinist for Bethlehem Steel Corp. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha J. Skerl; his son, Curtis F. Skerl; and a brother, Stanley Skerl.

SUBOLESKI - Elizabeth A., 81, resident of Johnstown for 78 years, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2004, at the Palmyra Nursing Home in Palmyra, Pa., where she resided for a year and a half. She was Born Aug. 8, 1922, in Johnstown, to George and Mary Ellen (Moran) Holtzman. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Joseph J.; brother, Francis Holtzman; and sister, Mary Louise (Holtzman) Suboleski. Survived by children, Mary Catherine, wife of Robert Simms, Levittown, Pa.; Joseph Michael Suboleski, husband of the former Carol Larson, Sicklerville, N.J.; Patricia, wife of James Horrell, of Myerstown, Pa.; Colleen, wife of Brian Parks, of Wernersville, Pa.; and Eileen Leckron of Westminster, Md.; and by seven grandchildren. After graduating from Johnstown High School in 1940, Mrs. Suboleski worked as a bookkeeper for six years for Eplett Plumbing in Moxham. She was married to Joseph Suboleski, deceased, a World War II veteran and welder for Bethlehem Steel Corp. Mrs. Suboleski was a lifetime member of St. Patrick's Church in Johnstown, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a lover of Irish culture and music. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Moskal & Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home, Ohio Street and Highland Avenue, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday from St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Rev. Msgr. Harold N. Biller, celebrant. Committal, St. John's Cemetery. Family requests donations be made in memory of Elizabeth to the Alzheimer's Association, 1011 Old Salem Road, Greensburg, Pa. 15601.
