She is survived by her husband, Donald Wayne; and three children: Nelson Scott of Rockville, Md.; Jaime Renee Diaz of Gaithersburg, Md.; and Edward Michael Conner of Derwood, Md.; grandson, Trevor Cole Diaz; mother, Martha Josephine Everhart of Krayn, Pa.; and sisters, Judy Lazration and Billie Jo Kramer of Krayn, Pa.; Tina Wilkinson of South Fork, Pa.; Marianne Everhart of Ruckersville, Va.; and Martha Everhart of Seesetown, Pa. She was preceded in death by her father, William Henry Everhart. The family received friends and family at their home in Rockville, Md., on Thursday, Sept. 14, from noon to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. at the Dunlo Cemetery, Dunlo, Pa.

Born March 21, 1927, in Johnstown, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Reighard) Hohan. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, William "Bill" Hohan; sister, Sara E. Simmons; brother-in-law, Jesse Simmons; and infant daughters, Deborah Kaye and Jennifer Lynne. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Chalmer C. Gillin, Johnstown; and children, Carol, wife of James Olivieri, Fairview; William "Bill" Gillin and Mona Gillin, both of Johnstown; grandchildren, Michelle and Matthew Hepner, Martinsburg; Diane and Paul Cooper, Johnstown; Jennifer and Andrew Herdman, Christiansburg, Va.; and Staci and John McCullough III, Canonsburg. There are 10 great-grandchildren, Alexa, Zachary and Madison Hepner; Collin, Samantha and Brooke Cooper; Anna Herdman; and Ellie, Olivia, and baby boy McCullough, soon to be born

A lifelong member of Conemaugh Church of the Brethren, where she enjoyed working for her Lord, especially teaching Sunday School and Bible School classes, and singing in the choir. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Conemaugh Church of the Brethren, Dr. Fred D. Beam officiating. Interment will take place at Headricks Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Peggy requested that you "give a gift to a missionary, or just be a missionary yourself, where you are. Tell someone how much God loves them, and explain to them the message of John 3:16, 'Jesus paid the price for you, salvation is a free gift.' Please accept it and live for Jesus. Also survived by godchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her so. Member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Windber. She was a volunteer at the Somerset Chapter of Birthright. Survived by wife, the former Naomi Smith, Nanty Glo; children, William, and wife, Linda, Vinco; Phyllis Trude, and husband, Russell, Morrisdale; grandchildren, Carol, Billy, Greg, Karla and Tressa; four great-grandsons; and brother, Rich Ondriezek, and wife, Melda, Nanty Glo. A member of Nanty Glo United Methodist Church. Retired coal miner and toy maker for Pap Pap Woodshop. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. OWEN - Bernice B. Born Jan. 2, 1913, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Roy B. and Lulu (Baumgardner) Bantly. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. Owen, in 1996, her sister, Lois B. McConnell, and brother, Richard Clair Bantly. She is survived by son, Dwight B. Owen, Westmont; and daughter, Denise B. Owen, Oakland, Calif.; several nieces and a nephew, among them a special niece, Carlynn A. Toth, Ogletown; and many great- and great-great nieces and nephews. Bernie was a 1929 1/2 graduate of Johnstown High School, and a 1934 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with a degree in art education, and also took classes at what is now Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She taught art at public schools in Johnstown, Lower Yoder Township, Conemaugh Township, and in Delaware. In her personal artwork, she preferred doing still life and rural scenes in oil. In addition to belonging to artists' organizations, she performed with theater and modern dance groups in Johnstown. She was a member for more than 50 years and did volunteer work for the Westmont Presbyterian Church, and what is now The Auxiliary of Memorial Medical Center. For many years, she enjoyed playing bridge with several clubs, and enjoyed traveling with her husband, including visiting several areas of Africa; and in later years, she frequently visited her daughter in California. Friends will be received from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., West Hills, 921 Menoher Blvd., the Rev. Doug Stevens officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Salvation Army.

PARATORE - Edward Louis

Survived by loving wife of 37 years, Anne (Rizzo) Paratore; daughter, Lisa, married to Jason Jones, Sandusky, Ohio; son, Bert Paratore, Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, Louis, married to Mary (Altimore) Paratore and Guy Paratore, both of Johnstown; brothers-in-law, Tony Rizzo, Phoenix, and Thomas, married to MaryAnne (Rievel) Rizzo, Johnstown; mother-in-law, Helen (DiBartola) Rizzo, Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graduated from Johnstown High School in 1949 and University of Pittsburgh in 1957, earning a degree in civil engineering and administration, where he was a member of the Men's Glee Club and performed as a member of a quartet. U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in 1902nd Engineer Battalion, stationed in Mineral Wells, Texas. Formerly employed at U.S. Steel as a civil engineer; also worked for Somerset Steel and Erection Co., helping build the 1889 Flood Memorial in St. Michael; Sheesley Construction, where he served as project manager for the Incline Plane renovation in 1983-84; and retired from JD Construction. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a former member of Windber Country Club. Avid Pittsburgh Panthers and Steelers fan. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Committal, St. Anthony Cemetery.
