Born May 8, 1919, in Somerset Township, son of late George and Mary (Weighley) Baer. Preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Judy, and son-in-law, Dr. Fred S. Goldberg. Survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Jeanetta Wilt; and children, Barry, married to Eileen Frye, Friedens; Helen, married to Lou Bruno, Friedens; Margaret, married to Dennis Kirkpatrick, Lodi, Calif.; John, married to Sandra Baker, Meyersdale; David, married to Patricia Baker, Berlin; Jeannine, married to late Dr. Fred S. Goldberg, Somerset; and Lucinda Day, Lilburn, Ga. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, Tina (Rick) Barron, Lynn (Kathy) Baer, Jeannine (Aleks) Duni, Marne (Dave) Doman, Brett (Joi) Kirkpatrick; Shannon Kirkpatrick, Shayne Baer, Sharad Baer, Jessica (Shawn) Gross, Gretchen (Alan) Swank, Ariel Goldberg, Collin Day and Devin Day. Also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Elizabeth Barron; Alexis Baer; Carter Doman; Amber, Kassi, Drew and Leah Kirkpatrick; and Ashton, Savannah and Lauren Gross. Survived by sisters, Sara Mae Creech; Emma Jane Weible; Phyllis Beal, and husband, Albert Beal; and brothers, Robert; George, married to Bonnie Shaffer; and Alan, married to Sandy Barron; also sisters-in-law, Mildred Fluck, Eileen Jay and Nadine Airesman; and many nieces and nephews, including beloved niece, Patty (Judy), and husband, Jimmy Edwards. John was a lifelong farmer and retired from Bethlehem Steel after 43 years' service. He was a graduate of Somerset Township High School and a member of Geiger Church of the Brethren, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and National Rifle Association. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. John was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He enjoyed working at the Baer brothers' sugar camp and volunteering at Somerset Historical Center's Mountain Craft Days. John will be missed by family, friends and neighbors. At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or viewing. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 10 at Geiger Church of the Brethren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Geiger Church of the Brethren. Arrangements by George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc., Davidsville.

BOYKO - Edward Steve
BOYKO - Edward Steve, 75, Tucson, Ariz., went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Jan. 13, 2007. Ed was Born on Aug. 22, 1931, in Windber. Surviving Ed is his bride of 53 years, Lois Jean Gittings Boyko; son, Eddie (Patty); daughter, Joan (Tom) Brewer; grandchildren, Luke Boyko, Melissa (Ryan) Grayson, Carissa and Jacqueline Brewer, Christine and Clayton Bowling and Ashleigh and Christopher Cross; great-grandchildren, Devin, Ismail and Safia; and a special angel on earth, Leslie, and family. Also surviving, sister-in-law, Marie (Tony) Danko, and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Maureen; parents, John and Anna Boyko; and brothers, John, Joseph and Andrew Boyko. Ed was proud of his Slovak heritage and being a first-generation American. After working for Bethlehem Steel in Pennsylvania and marrying Jean in 1953, he served overseas with the U.S. Army. In 1962, the family moved to Maryland, where he started his career with the U.S. Post Office. In 1987, the dream of moving to Arizona came true. And this is where he spent the rest of his wonderful life. Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at Desert Sunset Funeral Home, 3081 W. Orange Grove Road, Tucson, where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery with Pastor Romero officiating. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Desert Son Community Church, 525 W. Cortaro Farm Road.

Survived by loving husband of 55 years, Mario A. Gentile; children, Thomas Gentile, Washington, D.C.; Paula, wife of David DiNardo, Center Township; and Dr. Stephen Gentile, married to the former Melissa Manning, Forest Hill, Md.; grandchildren, Christina and Jennifer DiNardo, Center Township; and Jordan and Hudson Gentile, Forest Hill; sister, Emma, wife of Joseph Ursino, Windber; and sister-in-law, Charlene Manippo, Windber. Also survived by beloved members of the Gentile family and numerous nieces and nephews. Former cashier at Giant Eagle. Volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Family Kitchen. Member of St. Andrew's parish, where she assisted the sisters. Many thanks to Conemaugh Regional Hospice for their devoted and loving care and to our wonderful neighbors and friends for their assistance and love. Friends received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Moskal -- Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home, Ohio Street and Highland Avenue. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved very much. Member of St. Joseph Chapel. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Born July 21, 1913, in Burgettstown, daughter of the late Samuel J. McNary and Ethel (Thubrin) McNary Hamlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Alfred George Lambert in 2000, and a brother, Samuel Rea McNary. Survived by son, Arthur Rea Lambert, married to Elaine Talarigo, Portage; stepbrother, Jackson Hamlin, and wife, Virginia, Cincinnati; grandchildren, Torrey Rea Lambert, Baltimore, and Danielle Elaine Buettner, Johnstown; stepgrandsons, Todd Trybus and Angelice Rojas; and Timothy Trybus, and wife, Helen; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth Buettner; and stepgreat-grandsons, Andrew and Samuel Trybus; also "adopted daughter," Linda Rynentson. Virginia was a graduate of Women's Homeopathic Hospital in Philadelphia, with a RN degree, and did advanced work at Colby College, Maine. She was the medical supervisor at Curtis Publishing Company, Philadelphia, and also was a substitute school nurse at the Hinsdale School District. She was on the founding board of directors of Montgomery Place Church Home in Chicago, as well as being a member of its design and construction committee. Virginia was also on the women's board of directors of Rush, St. Luke's Presbyterian Hospital of Chicago. She was a volunteer at the Valley Forge Military Hospital, the Red Cross and the Church Soup Kitchen of Aurora, Ill. She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the choir. More recently, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Johnstown. Services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, Father Doug Blakelock officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Agnes was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by loving husband of 69 years, George Miles of Johnstown; and these children: Thomas Miles of California; Patricia Stephens of Johnstown; William Miles of Johnstown; Mary Ann Miles of Virginia; Veronica, married to Stephen Dugas of Roaring Springs; Deborah Thomas of Johnstown; and Steven, married to former Stephanie Janiga of Johnstown. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Retired supervisor for the housekeeping department of Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. Agnes was very active in several churches, where she loved to cook and prepare various foods and meals. Member of St. Rochus Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Charles Amershek. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. Agnes loved her family and many friends. Her life revolved around helping, caring and loving all she knew. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her.

RAINEY - Wade K.
RAINEY - Wade K. Survived by sons, Theodore W., married to Betty (Tinsmith) of Johnstown; Robert, married to Helen (Grace) of Wilmington, Del.; and Ronald of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; also grandchildren, Kevin, Brian, Stephen, Eric, Kimberly, Carrie, Richard, Randy and Ronald David; and 18 great-grandchildren. Brother of William, married to Louise (Rogers) of Cleveland. Also survived by special friends, Elsie Minana, Gladys Goodman and Alberta Harrigan. Mr. Rainey was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for more than 47 years. He graduated from Beaverdale High School, received a teacher's certificate from Beckly College, was a member of FOP for more than 50 years, was a Marine veteran of World War II and was employed as a Johnstown Police officer from 1941 to 1963. He liked all sports and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Geisel Funeral Home, Dale, where FOP will perform a ritual at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Geisel-Devlin Memorial Chapel, Pastor Ross Pryor. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 111 Willow St., Johnstown, Pa. 15901 or the Salvation Army.

While growing up in Portage, he served as an altar boy and was a Boy Scout and a newspaper carrier. He was a scorekeeper and an assistant coach for the Mainline Little League. Leon was a graduate of Portage High School. He was a retired brick- layer for Bethlehem Steel. Upon retirement, he enjoyed watching all sports - especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins - and taking casino trips with his son, Brian. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Father Robert P. Reese. Entombment, Sacred Heart Mausoleum, Portage. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Leon's name.
