RUFFSDALE, PA - Donald H. Peck, 76, of Ruffsdale, PA, formerly of Ashtabula, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003.
Born on January 12, 1927, in Pierpont, he was the son of Almond H. and Mabel Warren Bliss Peck.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Peck; two sons, Kenneth Peck of Slippery Rock, PA, and Russell Peck of Fayette City, PA; one daughter, Charlene Hare of Ashtabula, OH; one sister, Doris Hall of Orange Park, FL; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Lorene F. Peck.
Graveside Service will be held Friday, July 18, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in North Kingsville, with Rev. Sandra Dennis officiating.
Leota H. McCormick
CONNEAUTVILLE, Pa. - Leota H. McCormick, 89, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Rolling Fields Nursing Home.
She was born May 30, 1912, in Richmond Township, the daughter of George Franklin and Elsie Ione (Winch) Smith.
Mrs. McCormick is formerly of Andover and Westford, Pa., and had lived in Conneautville since 1985.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed music and flowers.
Mrs. McCormick marriage her husband, Ralph E. McCormick on Dec. 10, 1929.
Survivors include a son, Charles F. McCormick of Meadville, Pa.; a daughter, Barbara J. Lamson of Meadville; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 8, 1993; an infant daughter; three sisters, Lela Harrington, Lorene Harrington and Genevieve Tietz; a brother, Harold Smith; a grandson, Patrick McCormick; and a great-grandson.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Maple Grove Cemetery in Andover, with the Rev. Scott A. Ressman officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Westford United Methodist Church, Westford Road, Jamestown, Pa., 16134.
Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, is in charge of arrangements.
Alice M. Valentine
ALBION, Pa. - Alice M. Valentine, 77, of Thornton Avenue, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West, Girard, Pa.
She was born April 5, 1923, in Greenfield, Ind., the daughter of Burton Arnold and Cordelia G. (Cooney) Kirk.
She was a graduate of the Greenfield Indiana School System.
Mrs. Valentine was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts; card games, especially bridge and various board games.
She was active with the Methodist Church over the years; belonging to the Grace United Methodist Church, Albion. She also was a member of the 51 and Sunshine clubs and served as president of the American Legion Post 567 Auxiliary, in Albion.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Floyd; a son, Larry L. of Albion; a daughter Sally S. Kemling of Albion; five grandchildren, Kary Valentine of Mars, Pa., Kelly Valentine of Albion, Julie Kemling of Waterford, Pa., Susan Morley of Albion, and Scott Kemling of Evans City, Pa.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Omer Dale Kirk; a sister, Violet Dombrowski; and her parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Samuel J. Steff Funeral Home, 188 E. State St., Albion, with the Rev. Jay Cook of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Albion Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Ronald Lynn Smith
CABOT, PA. - Ronald Lynn Smith, 51, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Allegheny General Hospital.
The son of William Lee and Mary Ellen (Wrightmour) Smith, he was born June 9, 1949, in Ashtabula, OH. He resided in Cabot since 1977.
A 1967 graduate of Jefferson Area Local High School, he worked at Ashtabula Forge before attending and graduating Hiram College in 1973 with a degree in Music Education.
He worked for Uhl Builders, first as a construction worker, and then as project superintendent. He then worked for Mosites Construction as project superintendent until retiring in 1998.
Mr. Smith had his own workshop where he designed home additions and improvements. He enjoyed motorcycling and visiting the Honda plant in Marysville. He was a peer counselor for Amputees Unlimbeted.
He was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church in Cabot, and was on the administrative board, the board of trustees and the design and development board for planning for their building program.
Mr. Smith went on several mission trips and was responsible for designing and building a church/women and children's health clinic in Jingo, Uganda. He also taught Sunday school, led Bible studies and arranged and directed the church hand bells.
Survivors include his wife, Lois (Villers), whom he marriage Dec. 24, 1970; one son, Aaron J.; one foster son, David Muwanga; his mother; and one sister, Jeanette L. of Jefferson.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Larry L.
Services were held Wednesday at Zion United Methodist Church, with burial in Cabot, Pa.
Contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, Cabot, Pa.
Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg, Pa., handled all arrangements.
Raymond Chabot
CRANESVILLE, Pa. - Raymond Chabot, 71, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at the Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
Born June 5, 1929, in Rumford, Maine, he was a son of Eva Rose Chabot. He had been an area resident since 1982 and had previously lived in Ashtabula.
He worked 45 years as a truck driver and retired from ABF Freight.
A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, he served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 710, Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Eagles 1463, and the Loyal Order of Moose 547, Ashtabula.
An avid traveler, he enjoyed motorcycling, boating and music.
Survivors include four daughters, Jackie Jones and Pattie McNulty, both of Madison, Carolyn Chabot of Geneva and Heather Chabot of Florida; six sons, Brian Chabot of Dandridge, Tenn., Raymond Chabot of Kalamazoo, Mich., Mark Chabot of Perry, Clay Chabot of Rosharon, Texas, Keith Chabot of Muskegon, Mich. and Vern Chabot of Cranesville; 30 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Susan Whitney of Plainfield, Conn.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michele and Mitchell; and his mother.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles 1463 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
Military rites will follow.
Calling hours are from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.
Betty Jackson
NEW CASTLE, Pa. - Betty Jackson, 69, of New Castle, Pa., died Monday, March 24, 2003, at her home.
She was born Oct. 12, 1933, in Geneva, OH, the daughter of Bert and Catherine (Harris) Vincent.
A homemaker, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle and enjoyed baby-sitting and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, J. Edwin Jackson, whom she marriage Oct. 11, 1958; two sons, Andy Jackson and Robert F. Jackson, both of New Castle, Pa.; four brothers, Vern Vincent, Jack Vincent and Ray Vincent, all of Geneva, and Dane Vincent of Unionville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bud Vincent; and two sisters, Norma Knox and Marian Valitsky.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, Pa. The Rev. Raymond Hylton, of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Castle View Memorial Gardens.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

William R. Ramey Sr.
EDINBORO, Pa. - William Ralph Ramey Sr., 63, of Route 98, died Friday, Jan, 24, 2003 at his home. He was born Aug. 21, 1939 in Sudith, Ky., the son of Hiram and Sissie Ramey.
Mr. Ramey had lived in Edinboro for the past 23 years, having moved there from Lake City, Pa. He was employed at Engineer Plastics as a press operator. He enjoyed spending time with relatives and drag racing.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise and Sylvia Ramey, both of Edinboro; two sons, William Ralph Ramey, Jr. and Paul Ramey, both of Edinboro; two sisters, Essie Webber and Bessie Lago, both of West Springfield, Pa.; a brother, Kenneth Ramey of Conneaut; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Edward, Rex and Harold Ramey; and a sister, Lucille.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Raymond L. Lamb, pastor of the Conneaut Church of God, officiating.
Calling hours are 10 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Ramey requested memorial contributions be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Burial will be in East Springfield Cemetery in East Springfield, Pa..
