VILLA MARIA, Pa. - Sister Mary Rose Scheetz, the former Mary Josephine Scheetz, 100, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Villa Maria Community Center.
She was born March 8, 1902, in Canton, the daughter of Thomas and Rose (Gladieux) Scheetz.
She attended Mt. Marie Academy, Canton, Cleveland College of Massage in 1929, and St. John College, Cleveland, in 1942.
Sister Mary Rose served for 67 years in education and health care in the Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Youngstown Dioceses. In Cleveland, she served at the Rose-Mary Home, Euclid as a physiotherapist and later as an administrator.
She taught at St. Martha in Akron, St. Edward and Lourdes Academy in Cleveland and St. James in Lakewood and managed the media store at Magnificat High School in Rocky River.
In the Youngstown Diocese she was principal of St. Patrick in Hubbard; and taught at St. John High School and St. Joseph in Ashtabula; St. Paul and St. John the Baptist Schools in Canton; St. Aloysius in East Liverpool; St. Barbara and St. Joseph in Massillon; St. Stephen in Niles; and St. Edward Junior High in Youngstown.
She also was a physical therapist at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Sister Mary Rose taught at Villa Maria High School and was the director of the Villa Maria Circle for 13 years. She joined her sisters in the ministry of prayer upon her retirement in 1987. At the time of her death she was the oldest member of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary.
Survivors include her sisters in the Humility of Mary Congregation.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Walter, Lawrence and Thomas Scheetz; and sisters, Helen Seely, Mary Kathryn Van Tilburg and Dorothy Freeman.
Service is 3 p.m., Wednesday at Villa Maria Chapel, Villa Marie, Pa.
Calling hours are 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
Wake service will be 7:15 p.m., Tuesday at the chapel.

Laura Walker Sheeley
PITTSBURGH - Laura Walker Sheeley, 90, of Pittsburgh, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at the HCR-Manor Care Nursing Home in McMurray, Pa.
She was born March 12, 1911, in Denmark Township, the daughter of John J. and Olive (Avery) Austin.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly DeGregorio of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Neal DeGregorio and Laura Simpson; two brothers, Edgar Austin of North Kingsville, and Raymond Austin of Canfield; and a sister, Edith Cary of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Alonzo Graff, of the Harbor United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Gageville Cemetery in Sheffield Township.
Daniel M. Longstreth
EAST SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - Daniel M. Longstreth, 72, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Millcreek Community Hospital, Erie, Pa.
He was born May 17, 1930, in Pine Grove, W.Va., the son of James Gerald and Mable Bessie (Edgell) Longstreth.
Mr. Longstreth owned and operated Dal’s Machine Shop, West Lake Road, East Springfield, Pa., where he and his family fabricated parts and tools needed by suppliers in the area.
He served in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed hunting and fishing, boating, tractor pulls, square dancing and camping – basically, anything that would get him outdoors. He liked to be on the go. Survivors include his wife, Alice J. (Brozell); four daughters, Shirley Penoyer of Spartansburg, Pa., Thelma Ferringer of Sherman, N.Y., Althea Fox of Opelousas, La., and Linda Sterner of Centerville, Pa.; a sister, Mildred Harpst of Lake City, Pa.; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dani Kay Longstreth; a brother Clarence; a sister, Marie Zacckuse and his first wife, Doris M. (Richardson), in 1961.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, Pa., with the Rev. Lynn Cirigliano of Faith Evangelical Church, Corry, Pa., officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Road, south of Union City, Pa.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

Jessica D. Havel
MT. LEBANON, Pa. - Jessica Danielle Havel, 21, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at her home.
Formerly of Thompson Township, she was born July 10, 1980, in Chardon, the daughter of Mark A. and Karen L. (Fletcher) Havel.
Miss Havel was an employee of Rolliers Hardware, Mt. Lebanon.
Survivors include her parents; and a brother, Dustin, all of Thompson.
Service is 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, with the Rev. Hazel Partington officiating.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Michele L. Legenzoff
WEST SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - Michele L. Legenzoff, 57, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at her home.
Born June 7, 1943, in Erie, she was the daughter of Marjory Luella (Gabel) Kidder Manown and Donald William Kidder.
She marriage Donald L. Legenzoff on June 15, 1963.
Mrs. Legenzoff attended McDowell High School, Columbus Art Institute, and graduated from Edinboro University.
She was Erie's first graphic artist and taught high school art for several years.
She co-owned several family businesses and was a talented freelance artist. She also was a rural route carrier for local newspapers, a real estate agent, an Avon representative, and a newspaper advertising representative. Most recently she traveled as an independent oversized transport escort with Wakley Escort of North East, Pa..
She was a former member of the Northwestern School Board, Tri-County Intermediate Unit, the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department and its auxiliary.
She enjoyed woodworking NASCAR racing, stained glass art production, painting, reading, on-line auctions and collecting Disney memorabilia.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Dawn R. Polaski of East Springfield, Pa., and Georgiann L. Legenzoff of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two grandsons, Devin Kuchcinski and R.J. Polaski; her mother; and a brother D. Robert Kidder of Girard.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Service is 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, Pa. Burial will be private at the request of the family.
Calling hours are tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of servicet Wednesday at the funeral home.

Harry J. Parsons
MEADVILLE, Pa. - Harry J. Parsons, 53, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at York Hospital, York Pa., following a brain aneurysm.
He was born Jan. 25, 1947, in Greenville, Pa., a son of George R. and Roselma N. (Fenn) Parsons.
He worked as a quality control manager for the former Abex Company and its successor, U.S.Bronze Foundry and Machine and Lubrite Technologies of Meadville.
A graduate of Saegertown High School, he saw duty in Vietnam from 1964 to 1966 with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member and trustee of the Meadville Elks Lodge 219 and a member of W.Mead No. 2 volunteer fire department.
An avid Civil War history buff, he also was a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, and an organ donor through the Gift of Life organization.
Survivors include his mother of Andover; a daughter, Traci M. of Newbury Township; and a son, Kevin M. of Meadville.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Dorothy Neuroth.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where an Elks Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Raymond L. Skinner Jr.
EDINBORO, Pa. - Raymond L. Skinner, 67 of Willow Wood Drive, Erie, Pa., died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at his home.
Born in Fairfield, Conn., Oct. 11, 1935, the son of Raymond L. and Florence I. (Cumming) Skinner Sr.
He graduated from Ludlow High School in Fairfield, Conn., in 1953, and worked at the Molded Fiberglass Co. in Ashtabula and in Union City for many years.
Mr. Skinner was a former Warden LEM and faithful member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Edinboro. He was a Acolyte of St. Johns Church in Fairfield, Connecticut, and St. Peters Church in Ashtabula, Ohio. He also was a member of the Elks Club in Erie.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Jacqueline L. (Billhardt) Skinner; one daughter, Beth Weir and her husband, Gary of Geneva; one sister-in-law, Catherine Braithwaite and her husband Ken of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren, Tim, Andy and Rebeca Weir; and a niece and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Rt. 6N, Edinboro, Pa., with the Rev. David Fulford officiating.
The Glunt Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
