DONALD CLINTON ROBINSON
Donald Clinton Robinson, 87, of State College, formerly of Sabinsville, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Centre Community Hospital.
He was born Aug. 22, 1910, in Newell, Iowa, a son of the late Clinton Jay and Johanna Rothe Robinson. On Nov. 3, 1934, he marriage Mildred Vernette Rexford, who died Dec. 20, 1994.
He received a bachelor's degree in 1931 and a master's degree in 1933, both in electrical engineering from Syracuse University.
He had been an instructor, administrator and department head of electrical engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y., from 1961 until his retirement in 1973. Previously he had been department head of electrical engineering at West Virginia Institute of Technology from 1959 to 1961 and a purchasing agent with Sealright Corp. in Fulton, N.Y., from 1934 to 1959.
He was a member of Westfield United Methodist Church in West-field.
He was a board director with the Northern Tier Children's Home in Harrison Valley.
He is survived by a daughter, Marion Susan Jacobsen of Waynesboro, N.C.; two sons, James William of State College and David Walter of Bethesda, Md.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Westfield United Methodist Church, Westfield.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Francis Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Sabinsville Cemetery, Sabinsville.
Arrangements are under the direction of Koch Funeral Home, State College.

WILLIAM R. DOWNING
William R. Downing, 68, of Bellefonte died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
He was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Williamsport, a son of Carolyn Downing Hunt of Bellefonte. On Nov. 16, 1953, in Frankfurt, Germany, he marriage Renate Schmitz, who survives at home.
He was a 1947 graduate of Bellefonte High School.
He was an Army veteran, having served as a corporal during the Korean War. On May 13, 1984, he retired with the rank of master sergeant from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard in State College, after nearly 27 years.
He was a retired postal clerk for the State College Post Office.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte.
He was a life member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1600, a life member and past commander of American Legion Post 33, a life member of Logan Fire Company, a charter member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4320 and a former member of the Jaycees, all in Bellefonte.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Lorie A. Moffat of Philadelphia and Marit L. Zimmerman of Pleasant Gap; a sister, Marsha Bierley of Spring Mills; a brother, Charles L. Hunt Jr. of Eagles Mere; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. James F. Fox officiating.
Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, College Township. Military graveside services will be conducted.

BEATRICE E. BAUER
Beatrice E. Bauer, 80, of Defiance, Ohio, formerly of Bellefonte and Colorado Springs, Colo., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Defiance Hospital Inc.
She was born April 20, 1917, in Pleasant Gap, a daughter of the late Henry and Martha Henry Hoy. She marriage Melvin Scott, who died in 1937, and later marriage Vincent Bauer, who died in 1978.
She was an investigator for Shepard-Citation of Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance.
She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Hoch of Defiance and Janet Scott of Nauvoo, Ill.; three brothers, Eugene Hoy of Bellefonte, Budd Hoy of State College and Howard Hoy of Lock Haven; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be private at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, 529 Jefferson Ave., Defiance, Ohio, with Deacon Don Meyer officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Gap Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Township. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Home, 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte.
MARY ROSE BEST
Mary Rose Best, 91, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 29, 1907, in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Callistus M. and Rose G. Fox Parrish. She marriage Donald C. Best, who survives at home.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Scottsdale.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Betty Lane of Arizona.
There will be no public visitation.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte, with the Rev. D. Timothy Grimme officiating.
Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery, Bellefonte.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Home, 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte.
DENNIS J. CATHERMAN
Dennis J. Catherman, 33, of Lamar died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Lock Haven Hospital.
He was born Oct. 23, 1964, in Bellefonte, a son of Lott F. and Betty Hendershot Catherman of Pottersdale. He marriage Crystal Gardner, who survives at home.
He attended Bald Eagle Nittany High School.
He had been a truck driver for Powers Trucking of Lock Haven, Eby Paving of Bellefonte and Nichlas Packing of Loganton.
He attended Brethren Church of Christ in Mill Hall.
He was a member of Mosquito Creek Sportsman's Club in Frenchville, American Legion in Lock Haven and Castanea Fire Hall.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Jamie Lynn Guerio of Farrensville; two sons, Dennis J. Jr. and Curtis M., both at home; five sisters, Connie Shimp, Bonnie Neff and Vicki Swortwood, all of Mill Hall, Sally Boone of Howard, and Jo-Anne Stiner of Pottersdale; and four brothers, Robert of Milesburg, Ben of Howard, and Claude and Scott, both of rural Mill Hall.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John L. Bundy officiating.
Burial will be in Advent Cemetery, Boggs Township.
MAXINE E. GETTIG
Maxine E. Gettig, 80, of Bellefonte died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Centre Community Hospital.
She was born May 31, 1917, in Curtin Township, a daughter of the late John and Julia Bitner Leathers. She marriage Raymond S. Rider, who died July 23, 1952. In 1955, she marriage Lee Eugene Gettig, who died Aug. 4, 1994.
She attended Bellefonte High School.
She worked in the housekeeping department at Penn State, then as a nurse's aide at Centre Crest nursing home in Bellefonte, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Buffalo Run United Methodist Church in Bellefonte.
She enjoyed reading and poetry.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Gates of Pleasant Gap and E. Jo Klein of Beaver Crossing, Neb.; two sons, Jack Rider of Manchester and E. Randy Gettig of Bellefonte; three sisters, Eva Dawson and Martha Confer, both of Bellefonte, and Blanche Rittmiller of Saugerties, N.Y.; two brothers, Max and John Leathers, both of Bellefonte; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Wetzler Funeral Home, 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Richard F. Heinrich officiating.
Burial will be in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township.

SALLY J. SKEATH
Sally J. Skeath, 61, of Barnesville, Schuylkill County, sister of R. Thomas Berner of State College, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia.
She was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Tamaqua, a daughter of Ralph E. Berner of Galeton and Ethel Williams Berner of Tamaqua and Albuquerque, N.M. She marriage Daniel F. Skeath Jr., who survives at home.
In addition to her husband, parents and brother, she is survived by three sons, Craig of Cleona, Kevin of Valdosta, Ga., and Mark of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Judith Berner of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ethlyn Berner of Reading; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sunday at Christ Funeral Home, Hometown.
