Jennifer M. "Jen" Hoffman, 14, of 317 Reading St., Rupert, Bloomsburg, died Monday evening, Nov. 30, 1998, in the emergency room at the Berwick Hospital Center, following an vehicle accident at short time earlier.
Born June 15, 1984, in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of Ray E., Jr. and Jane M. Zettlemoyer Hoffman.
She was a ninth grade student at Bloomsburg High School.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are maternal grandmother Beatrice Zettlemoyer, Bloomsburg; paternal grandparents, Ray, Sr. and Donna Hoffman, Catawissa R.R.2; and her paternal grandmother, Shirley Eveland, Milton.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Allen R. Horne Funeral Home, McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with the Rev. Donald L. Snyder, pastor of the Numidia United Church of Christ Charge, officiating. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
Ryland E. Smires
Millwright worked in New Jersey, retiring in 1981
Ryland E. "Tom" Smires, 81, formerly of Jobstown, N.J., died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at his home at Broadway Estates, Turbotville.
Born Nov. 9, 1917, in Pemberton, N.J., he was a son of the late Elmer and Margaret Early Smires.
He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Muffly-Huff Post 8206 VFW, Turbotville, and a life member of Post 323 American Legion, Watsontown.
He was a member and former deacon of the Jobstown Bible Church.
He was a member of the Jobstown Fire Co. for over 40 years. Smires was a member of Local 2026 United Steelworkers of America.
He had been a millwright with U.S. Pipe and Foundry in Burlingame, N.J., retiring in 1981.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Bette Ellen) Wilbur, Jobstown, N.J.; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; a brother, Paul A. Smires, Millville; two sisters: Elsie Sager, Muncy R.R.1, and Thelma Crammer, Florida.
Twin children died previously: Bonnie Jean Smires, in 1954, and Tommy John Smires, in 1959.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, N.J., with the Rev. Richard Amber of Jobstown Bible Church officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville.

Services for Kimberly Vanessa Francis, 24, Wytheville R.R.3, Va., will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home, Berwick, with the Rev. Jim P. Winder, pastor of the Cornerstone Bible Church, Berwick, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Briggsville.
Francis died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at the Bristol Tennessee Regional Medical Center, where she was a patient for one week following an automobile accident.
Born Nov. 3, 1974, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Kent A. Sr. and Karen Kishbaugh Kissinger, Beach Haven.
She had attended the Berwick schools.
She had attended the Cornerstone Bible Church, Berwick.
Francis moved to Wytheville in March 1998 and was employed part time at the Bob Evans Restaurant. She previously worked at Lady Ester Corp. in Berwick.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her fiance, Anthony May; two sons, Randy and Benjamin Francis, both at home; a daughter, Kierstin May, at home; three brothers: Kent A. Kissinger Jr., Providence, R.I.; Kraig V. Kissinger, West Roxbury, Mass.; Richard K. Kissinger, Beach Haven; two sisters: Kristin M. Kissinger, Bloomsburg, and Sarina L. Kissinger, Beach Haven; and maternal grandparents, Belvin and June Kishbaugh, Beach Haven.
Roland E. Stout
Worked for ACF and Berwick Forge
Roland E. Stout, 77, of 1301 Third Ave., Berwick, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at the Berwick Hospital Center.
Born Oct. 15, 1921, in Berwick, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Helen Waltman Stout.
Stout was a welder for the ACF and Berwick Forge before retiring. He was a member of the Berwick VFW, a former member of the Berwick Moose Lodge, and a life member of the West End Hose Co.
He was a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy on the USS Shangri-la in the European and Pacific Theaters from 1941-45.
He enjoyed auto mechanics,.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ann W. Waldika; a son, Michael C. Stout, Danville; a daughter, Mrs. Kevin (Libby) McShane, Collegeville; six grandchildren; two sisters: Vivian Plastow, Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Charles (Beatrice) Woll, Berwick.
Two sisters, Grace Snyder and Virginia Bafile, and a brother, Robert Stout, died previously.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 110 Chestnut St., Berwick, with the Rev. Andrew Shuga and the Rev. Fred J. Fields officiating. Burial will be in Holy Annunciation Cemetery, Berwick.
Neil M. Jespersen

Neil M. Jespersen, 34, Bloomsburg R.R.9, died Monday morning, Nov. 30, 1998, from injuries suffered in a hunting accident in Madison Township.
Born Jan. 9, 1964, in Elizabeth, N.Y., he was a son of Helge and Flora Campbell Jespersen, Harrisburg.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Unityville.
He was a member of the C.W.A. Local 1300, Pittsburgh. He was also a coach for many years for Millville AYSO.
He was a 1981 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, Harrisburg.
Jespersen had worked for Bell Atlantic, Bloomsburg, since 1988, and previously for Mack Sales and Service Inc., Harrisburg, for 10 years.
He had lived at rural Bloomsburg since 1992.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, the former Sharon Wertman, whom he marriage Dec. 21, 1985; a son, Joshua N. Jespersen, at home; a daughter, Sarah A. Jespersen, Williamsport; four brothers: Peter H. Jespersen, Trenton, N.J.; Eric C. Jespersen, Drums; Allan M. Jespersen, Harrisburg; Lt. Col. Edward T. Jespersen, Centerville, Ohio; and two sisters: Mrs. Douglas (Katherine) Hill, Hershey, and Marian W. Jespersen, New York City.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Unityville R.R.1, with his pastor, the Rev. Charles Baier, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Unityville.

Donnie L. (Faux) Gehers, 38, of Shickshinny R.R.3, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 1, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 19, 1960, in Danville, he was a son of Samuel and Lois Frantz Faux, Shickshinny R.R.3.
He was a member of Shickshinny Valley Church.
Gehers was a 1978 graduate of Elwylne Institute, Media.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Brian Faux, Front Royal, Va.; three sisters: Mrs. Roger (Tammy) Gregory, Shickshinny; Faith Canouse, Shickshinny; Mrs. James (Kay) Robinson, Ashburn, Va.
