Emily M. Waddingham, age 95, died at the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown, on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000.
She was born in Titusville on Oct. 2, 1905, a daughter of Sven and Anna Nelson Gustafson. She was marriage to James Waddingham; he preceded her in death in 1971. Mrs. Waddingham was a home maker and a former member of Titusville Eastern Star. She was also a volunteer at the Titusville Senior Center and at St. James Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a son, James Waddingham of Meadville; five grandchildren, Jill Perricome, Tim Waddingham, Jon Waddingham, Beth Gray and William Dittrich and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Waddingham was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor Dittrich; two sisters, Julia Brickner and Helen Preston and five brothers, Gustaf, Carl, Gary, Robert and Harry Gustafson.
PATRICIA C. KOCAN, 73
Patricia C. Kocan, 73, formerly of Titusville, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, in St. Vincent's Health Center, Erie.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home.
CHARLES JEROME 'JERRY' BLUM
Word has been received of the death of Charles Jerome "Jerry" Blum, a 1959 graduate of Titusville High School, on May 15, 2000, after a long illness.
Mr. Blum lived at Washington, D.C.
Survivors include two daughters, Polly Blum Wiedmaier and Pamela Blum Patmore; and two grandsons.
He was formerly marriage to Carol Newell Blum Gordon, a 1960 THS alumna.
The family requests that memorials be made to Titusville Alumni Association scholarship fund, 302 E. Walnut St., Titusville.
MACK LEWIS GRAVES, 54
Mack Lewis Graves, 54, of Fayetteville, Ga., died at his home May 26, 2000, after a short illness.
Mr. Graves was born June 6, 1945, at Titusville to Mardell Graves Nichols and the late Harry Graves Sr.
He marriage the former Tran Thi Thanh on April 19, 1980, at Camp Zama, Japan.
A 1963 Spartansburg High School graduate, Mr. Graves enlisted in the Army in 1966. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his service during the Vietnam Conflict and also served in Thailand, Japan and Hawaii as well as seven other states. His last service was as a member of the NATO Tactical Command at Izmis, Turkey. He served 28 1/2 years, retiring with the rank of warrant officer three.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; three children, Rachel Sanford and her husband, Todd, of Garland, and Pamela Graves and Lewis Graves, both of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Kristen Carter, Zachary Sanford and Alexander Sanford; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Michael Kieffer of Waterford, Rhonda and Milo Capron of Union City and Susan and Kim Kirsch of Farrell; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Brad and Rui Graves of Santa Monica, Calif., Harold and Thelma Graves of Spartansburg, David and Bindy Graves of Corry, Sam Graves of San Diego and Herb Graves of Erie; a half-brother, Harry Graves Jr. and his wife, Shirley, of Havre de Grace, Md.; 29 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
A granddaughter, Allison Carter, died in 1990.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated for cancer research or to Spartansburg First Baptist Church's building fund.
CLARA B. RODGERS, 75
Clara B. Rodgers, 75, of 101 Bridge St., Tionesta, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at 6:30 a.m. in Titusville Area Hospital.
Mrs. Rodgers was born May 28, 1925, at Oil City to Ira and Myrtle Runninger Fox.
She marriage Rev. Lemuel L. Rodgers on Dec. 1, 1942.
A homemaker, Mrs. Rodgers had lived in the Tionesta area for the past six years.
She was a member of Titusville Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Patty Phillippi of New Castle; a son and his wife, Thomas E. and Deborah Rodgers of Springfield, Ohio; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Runninger and Juanita Wygant and her husband, Bernard, of Lima, Ohio.
A son, Stanley D. Rodgers, four brothers and a sister died previously.
Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Titusville Church of the Nazarene.
KENNETH L. BROWN, 46
Kenneth L. Brown, 46, of 22479 Shamburg Road, Pleasantville, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at his home.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
E. BESSE INGRAHAM, 75
E. Besse Ingraham, 75, of 15346 Mercer Road, Townville, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in Meadville Medical Center.
Mrs. Ingraham was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Vernon Township, Crawford County, to Oscar and Hester L. McMichael Swaney.
She marriage Russell Ingraham on Sept. 12, 1975. He survives.
Mrs. Ingraham graduated from Meadville High School and Indiana State College and had attended Allegheny College. In her early years, she taught school in Cochranton, East Mead Township and Saegertown.
She was a member of Townville Baptist Church, where she had once served as a deaconess.
Mrs. Ingraham belonged to Townville Women's Club and the Flower and Sunshine Club.
She enjoyed people, especially her children and grandchildren.
Also surviving are three daughters, Barbara Coy of McKenzie Tenn., and two twins and their husbands, Rebecca and Mack Arnold of Bruceton, Tenn., and Connie and Dr. Dale Koch of Kuwait; two sons, David Coy of Meadville and Daniel Coy of Maypearl, Texas; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John (Jean) George of Marian, Ohio; a brother, George Swaney of East Canton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.
Memorial donations may be made to Townville Baptist Church, Main Street, Townville, 16360.
ARLENE BEATRICE WILSON LIGHTNER, 81
Arlene Beatrice Wilson Lightner, 81, of Kellettville, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at her home.
Mrs. Lightner was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Kellettville to Plummer W. and Julia Silzle Wilson.
She marriage William E. Lightner on June 18, 1943, in Tionesta. He died July 18, 1987.
Mrs. Lightner was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed flowers.
Surviving are: four brothers, Harold W. Wilson of Warren, Wayne R. Wilson of Jamestown, N.Y., and Howard W. Wilson and Judson L. Wilson, both of Kellettville; two sisters, Avonelle D. Wilson of Bellflower, Calif., and Alice M. Wilson of Kellettville; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Robert W. Wilson; and a sister, Mary Shirley, died previously.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Clarion/Forest Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice.
DAVID M. BENEDICT, 78
David M. Benedict, 78, of Hydetown died at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, after a long illness.
Mr. Benedict was born May 11, 1921, in Pleasantville to the late Leo O. and Jane Dunham Benedict.
He marriage the former Marie Tubbs on Oct. 26, 1943, in Titusville. She survives.
Mr. Benedict graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1939.
He worked at Struthers-Wells Corp. until enlisting in the U.S. Air Force on Oct. 19, 1942. He served with the 8th Air Force, 351st Bomb Group, 447th Sub Depot in England for 19 months. He was honorably discharged in November 1945.
Mr. Benedict was in partnership with his brothers in the family oil business for many years. He also was a machinist with Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp for 32 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of St. Titus Church.
Mr. Benedict belonged to Bruce Shorts Post 5958 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Universal Cyclops Quarter Century Club and served for a year as president of Pleasantville High School Alumni Association.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting, fishing and gardening.
Also surviving are: five children and their spouses, Patricia and John Moody of Tryonville, Charles C. and Ruth Benedict of Franklin, RD 1, William and Barbara Benedict of Falls Creek, Margaret McEwen of Greenville and Mary Baldwin and Darral of Hydetown; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Lindquist and Helen Sparks, both of Pleasantville; a brother, Harold R. Benedict of Clermont, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Mary Cox; and three brothers, Robert, Charles and Richard Benedict, died previously.
Interment will be in St. Catharine's Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Titus Church or School, 513 W. Main St.; or Hospice of Crawford County, 322 1/2 W. Main St.
MARY K. SCHWAB, 91
Mary K. Schwab, 91, formerly of 115 1/2 Main St., Tidioute, died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in the Rouse Home at Youngsville, where she had lived since Jan. 15.
Mrs. Schwab was born March 8, 1908, at Chamberville to the late Peter Watson and Mary Olive Cost Kinter.
She was marriage to Joseph E. Schwab, who died May 27, 1980.
Mrs. Schwab earned degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the University of Colorado at Boulder. She taught in Tidioute area schools for many years.
She was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Tidioute.
Mrs. Schwab had belonged to the Kappa Delta Pi sorority.
Surviving are: two sons and their wives, Robert E. and Nancy Schwab of Tidioute and J. Louis and Connie Schwab of Truth or Consequence, N.M.; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Kinter of Dunkirk, Md., and Ebert Kinter of Sewickley; a sister, Mrs. Dean (Virginia) Lauver of Falls Church, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Joseph Kinter and Earl Kinter, died previously.
No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be conducted at a time to be announced.
Memorials may be made to Tidioute Public Library or Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department.
GEORGIANNA JANE GARLAND, 84
McCONNELLSBURG - Georgianna Jane Garland, 84, of the Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care Unit and formerly of 718 Garland Rd., Needmore, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.
Born in Fulton County on Monday, March 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late George and Effie (Kline) DeShong. She worked at Sagner Sewing Factory, McConnellsburg, and she also was a homemaker.
She was the widow of Jack Truax Garland, who passed away Oct. 4, 1997. They were marriage April 2, 1938.
She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren in Needmore.
She is survived by a daughter, Helen Cowell, of Sun City Center, Fla., and Titusville; a son, Dale Garland of Needmore; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold DeShong and Wayne DeShong, and one infant brother, George DeShong Jr.
Religious Service will be held at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, at 11 a.m. on Monday, with the Rev. Roger Truax officiating.
Internment will be at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Needmore.
There will be visitation on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., Harrisonville. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Monday at the church.
CHARLES L. KNIGHT, 61
RACELAND, La. - Charles L. Knight, 61, of Raceland, La., formerly of Centerville, died at 10:05 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Knight; daughters Laura Borne, Shelly Ordoyne and Ramona Mire; five grandchildren, Dylan Mire, Cole Ordoyne, Colleen Ordoyne, Austin Foret and Chandler Mire; mother Mildred Knight of Centerville; and a sister, Karen Appling of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Knight Sr.
Mr. Knight was a member of the chamber of commerce, Lions Club, GNOCC and other car clubs.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at 7 p.m. at the Victory Life Church, Lockport, La. His body was donated to Tulane Science and Research.
