Peter Lucia, 76, of 215 Walnut St., Warren, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at 2 a.m. at his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Lucia was born Aug. 23, 1924, at Warren to the late Peter A. and Mamie Scalise Lucia.
He marriage the former Helen R. Irons, who survives, on May 2, 1953, in St. Joseph's Church, Warren.
A Warren resident his entire life, Mr. Lucia graduated from Warren High School in 1942.
He served in the Army during World War II as a corporal, earning the Distinguished Unit Badge, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, two Bronze Service Stars, Philippine Liberation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Arrowhead Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Lucia had been employed as a clerk for the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring after 25 years of service.
He had belonged to American Legion Post 135, Warren Sons of Italy and Disabled American Veterans. He was a life member of the Warren Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Lucia was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include: three daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Theodore Bailey of Warren, Janet and Scott Creveling of South Bend, Ind., and Phyllis "P.J." and Paul Dahle of Pleasantville; seven grandchildren, Lisa Bailey, Teresa Bailey and Joseph Bailey of Warren, Diana Creveling and Jena Creveling of South Bend and Jason Dahle and James Dahle of Pleasantville; a brother, Leonard Lucia of Enfield, Conn.; and two sisters and their husbands, Alvida and Jerome Farr of N. Kingstown, R.I., and Ann and Jack McAvoy of Sheffield.
Four brothers, Daniel Lucia, Albert Lucia, George Lucia and Richard Lucia; and a sister, Josephine Rich, died previously.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, 304 East St., Warren; members of the Sons of Italy will conduct a funeral ritual at 8 o'clock and a vigil service will be conducted at 8:30 by Rev. Father Walter E. Packard.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Rick Tomasone, administrator of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church of Farrell, as the main celebrant as well as Rev. Father Packard, pastor, and Rev. Father Antony Attumaly, parochial vicar.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Warren and Sheffield VFW's funeral detail.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society's Warren County unit, P.O. Box 771, Warren, 16365; Hospice of Warren County, in care of Warren General Hospital, 2 Crescent Park, Warren; St. Joseph's Church educational center fund, 600 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Warren; or charity of one's choice.
ROSE MARIE SEE, 84
Rose Marie See, 84, of 15322 N. Goodwill Road died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at 9:38 p.m. in Titusville Area Hospital.
Mrs. See was born Dec. 11, 1916, at Pittsburgh to the late Rocco and Minnie Cuccraresc Rose.
She marriage Esmond Joel See, who survives, on May 14, 1939, in St. Titus Church.
Mrs. See attended Norwood area schools.
She was a member of Gilson Ridge Free Methodist Church.
A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. See had enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Survivors include: 11 children and their spouses, Victor and Rose See, Margaret and Charles Black, Edward and Sandy See, Joan Nichols, Richard and Vicki See, Ruth See, Beverly and William Young, Robert See and Mark and Ann See, all of Titusville, and William and Barbara See and Patricia and Raymond Henderson of Centerville; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tony Rose of Titusville and John Rose of Hamilton, Mont.; two special people, Pat Douglas of Centerville and Pam Sterling of Titusville; and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Dominic Rose and Guy Rose; a sister, Isabelle Washnock; and twin grandchildren died previously.
No public calling hours will be observed.
Family and friends may attend the funeral Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Hawk, pastor of Church of the Word International, officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Gilson Ridge Free Methodist Church, RD 1, Titusville.
HAZEL M. BEERS, 75
Hazel M. Beers, 75, of 22311 Spring Creek Road died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at 1:37 p.m. in Corry Memorial Hospital.
She had been a resident of Corry Manor for the past month.
Mrs. Beers was born July 10, 1925, at Sunville to the late Frederick Miller Sr. and Annabell Mott Miller.
She marriage Charles R. Beers, who survives, on Sept. 12, 1947, at Chapmanville.
Mrs. Beers had been employed by Talon Corp. at Meadville, Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel and G.C. Murphy. She also operated a homemade candy store on Spring Creek Road in the early 1970s.
Survivors include: a son and his wife, Richard C. "Dick" and Marilyn Beers of Townville; a daughter, Mrs. David (Shelvy J.) Riley of Pleasantville; two grandchildren, Clifford Riley of Pleasantville and Amy Weaver of Lititz; two great-grandchildren, Clayton Roxberry and Courtney Weaver, both of Lititz; two brothers, Raymond Miller and Alfred Miller, both of Titusville; a sister, Louise Fox of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Beers was preceded in death by an infant son, David L. Beers; an infant daughter, Linda L. Beers; a brother, Frederick Miller Jr.; and a sister, Etta Mae Green.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m., when the funeral will be conducted by Rev. Jerry Drake, pastor of Enterprise Faith Community Church.
Interment will be in Covenanter Cemetery.

IRENE DOROTHY BEDOW, 82
Irene Dorothy Bedow, 82, of Corry died Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Corry Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Oil City to the late Florence Turner.
She had been marriage to Lynn E. Bedow, who preceded her in death.
Raised and educated in Oil City, she had worked all of her life in many different occupations.
She enjoyed crocheting, CB radios and professional wrestling.
Survivors include: two daughters and their husbands, Norma L. and Theodore M. Metz of Colliers, W.Va., and Darlynn L. and Jim L. Miller of Titusville; a son and his fiancee, Jerry Keyes Sr. and Linda Fehlman of Corry; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Barbara Jean Keyes Warner; a son, Ronald E. Keyes; and two grandchildren, Sabrina McCray and Jennifer Lindstrom, died previously.
No visitation or funeral will be held.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Crawford County.
Arrangements are by Bracken Funeral Home, Corry.
ROBERT P. GUSTAFSON, 69
ASHTABULA, Ohio - Robert P. Gustafson, 69, of Ashtabula, Ohio died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in Country Club Retirement Center, Ashtabula, Ohio.
Born April 17, 1933, at Oil City, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Katherine L. Van Ausdale Gustafson.
He was marriage to the former Mary Prody; she died Oct. 10, 1995.
An Air Force veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for more than 30 years as a chemical operator for SCM and retired Oct. 1, 1995.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, traveling and visiting casinos.
Survivors include: a son, Michael J. Gustafson of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Lynda S. Bartone of Ashtabula, Ohio; two grandchildren; three sisters, Patty Johnson and Wilma Shepherd, both of Titusville, and Nancy Shaw of West Hickory; and two brothers, James Gustafson of San Diego, Calif., and Harry Gustafson of Titusville.
The family will receive friends today at Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio from 6 to 8 p.m., when a service will be conducted. A committal service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula, Ohio by the Rev. Kenneth Roberts of the Pentecostal Church of God.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 225 W. Exchange St., Akron, Ohio, 44302; or the American Cancer Society, 7861 Crile Road, Concord, Ohio.
DR. MICHAEL J. ZAVACKY, 79
SHIPPENSBURG - Word has been received that Dr. Michael J. Zavacky, 79, of Shippensburg died Dec. 6, 2002, at his home.
He had been marriage to the former Emma Jane Fridinger, who preceded him in death.
He served as a Veteran of Foreign Wars and dedicated his life to the pursuit of democracy in this country.
A political science instructor at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville for nearly 30 years, he held a doctoral degree in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh.
He gave generously to charity, shared a love of animals and enjoyed singing in his church choir.
Survivors include: a son, Alan Zavacky, of New York City; a daughter, Virginia Zavacky of South Berwick, Maine; and a granddaughter, Savannah Zavacky of South Berwick, Maine.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or the Democratic National Committee.

A memorial service will be held in the spring.
MILLER G. KEELEY JR., 82
WEXFORD - Miller G. Keeley Jr., 82, of 506 N. Brown St. died at 6 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at the Mariner Health Care in Wexford following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Marienville, a son of Miller Sr. and Rose Anna Alexander Keeley. He was marriage to Helen Beatty on Jan. 19, 1948.
Mr. Keeley was a graduate of Endeavor High School. He had been employed at the former Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. for 33 years until his retirement in 1982.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He entered the service on Sept. 10, 1940, in Pittsburgh and served with the 83rd Field Hospital. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 13, 1945, at Indiantown Gap with the rank of master sergeant.
He was a member of the BPO Elks No. 264, a member of Cleo J. Ross Post No. 368, American Legion, and a member of Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958, VFW.
Survivors include his wife of Titusville; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Sherlyn) Negri of Chino Hills, Calif., and Mrs. Chris (Debbie) Cavanaugh of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Matthew Darlin of Orlando, Fla., Lisa Cavanaugh and Tim Cavanaugh of Pittsburgh; a sister, Mrs. Margaretta Gerhard of Slater, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
No public funeral service will be conducted. Interment will be private.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
KATHERYN F. BRENNER, 87
Katheryn F. Brenner, 87, of Titusville, RD 4, died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, in Titusville Area Hospital.
Mrs. Brenner was born April 18, 1911, in Austria-Hungary to the late Alex and Christina Farkas Feher.
She marriage Albert M. Brenner on Dec. 26, 1932, in McKeesport. Mr. Brenner died in September 1972.
She was employed by Dr. Hjalmer Anderson for 30 years as a housekeeper until retiring in 1975. She was previously employed by the J.L. Locke family for 15 years and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Poux for six years.
Mrs. Brenner was a member of St. Titus Church, Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary and the Diamond/Chapmanville Homemakers. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, her friends, auto racing and traveling.
Surviving are: one son, Joseph A. Brenner of Titusville; a brother, Zoltan Feher of Boston; a sister, Mrs. James (Mary) Totten of Coventry, R.I.; and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and a sister died previously.
Interment will be in St. Catharine's Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Titus Church, 513 W. Main St., Titusville.
IRVIN JACOB KIEHL, 76
Irvin Jacob Kiehl, 76, a resident of Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie and formerly of Titusville, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, in the Soldiers and Sailors Home.
Mr. Kiehl was born June 23, 1922, in Mayport to the late Irvin and Ann Kiehl.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Before his retirement, Mr. Kiehl had been a television and radio repairman for Day's Home Furnishings.
He was a member of the Titusville Free Methodist Church.
Mr. Kiehl enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and belonged to the local C.B. club.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Ward Kiehlof Titusville; four daughters, Lea Roseman of Pleasantville, Sandy Decker of Titusville, Barbara Lil ley of Meadville and Susan Lorraine Decker of South Carolina; and two sons, Philip Kiehl of England and Kenneth Kiehl of Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Zelda Mae Miler Kiehl, in childbirth, and their son, Irvin Jacob Kiehl III.
Friends may call at Soldiers and Sailors Home Chapel, 560 E. Third St., Erie, on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m., when the funeral will begin with Rev. Tim Armstrong officiating.
Interment with full military honors will be in Soldiers and Sailors Home Cemetery.
HOWARD R. DOWNING, 88
Howard R. Downing, 88, of Maranatha Village, Sebring, Fla., and formerly of Titusville, RD 3, died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, in Palms Health Care Center, Sebring. He had been a patient there since April 10, 1998.
Mr. Downing was born March 11, 1911, at Oil City to the late Charles and Laura Boyd Downing.
He marriage the former Lillian Maxine Gathers on Sept. 25, 1937, at Oil City. She died Oct. 13, 1984.
Mr. Downing attended Oil City area schools. He was employed by Pennzoil Refinery for 47 years, retiring in 1975.
A member of Hydetown Baptist Church, he had served as a deacon and taught Sunday school for many years.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Roberta) Hull of Sebring, Fla.; six grandchildren, Brian Hull of Cincinnatus, N.Y., Roger Hull of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Gary Hull of Jamestown, Ohio, Joseph Downing Jr. and Janette Downing, both of Titusville, RD 3, and Jeffrey Downing of Kansas City, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Shontz of Oil City and Mrs. John (Lillian) Current of Ava, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
A son, Joseph Downing; an infant daughter, Joselyn K. Downing; four brothers, Kenneth, Charles, Robert and Harry Downing; and a sister, Beatrice Heckathorne, died previously.
Interment will be in Jamison Corners Cemetery.
