CENTERVILLE - Walter L. White, 74, of 37324 State Highway 408, Centerville, died at 1:02 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 6, 1929, in Oilcreek Township, Venango County, he was a son of Carl E. and Merna Stoke White.
He marriage the former Ardath Platt on Sept. 11, 1986, at Cambridge Springs; she survives.
Formerly employed at Polk Center, he retired in 1991.
He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall.
He enjoyed woodworking, horseback riding, hunting and being outdoors.
Survivors include: five children, Julie White of Akron, Ohio, David A. White of Centerville, Mark E. White of Salem, Ohio, Kyle L. White and his wife, Trisha, of Titusville and Darcy L. White of Centerville; two stepchildren, whom he raised, Tefanie K. Boyer of Titusville and Chad A. Boyer of Meadville; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Carla Marshall of Centerville, Roxie Turk of Titusville, Marilyn Main of Tryonville, Audrey Peterson of Elyria, Ohio, Arlene Kope of Titusville and Carol Kuberry of Titusville; and many nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Janice Jackson; a sister, Twila White; and two brothers, David A. White and Wayne I. White, died previously.
Friends may call Friday at the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home Inc. from 7 to 8 p.m., when a memorial service will be conducted by Charles Harry Bush, local elder of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall.
Interment of cremains will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery, Pleasantville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, RD 2, Titusville, Pa. 16354; Townville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 85, Townville, Pa. 16360; or Hospice of Crawford County, 322 1/2 W. Main St., Titusville, Pa. 16354.
HULDA V. HIPPLE, 95
CORRY, Erie County - Hulda V. Hipple, 95, a resident of Corry Manor Nursing Home, died there on Monday, April 7, 2003.
Mrs. Hipple was born on Sept. 4, 1907, to the late Isaac and Violet Claypool Marsh. She marriage Wren L. Hipple on March 29, 1929, in Titusville. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1987.
She was raised and educated in Titusville, graduating from Titusville High School in 1926. She lived in Titusville until moving to Erie with her husband in 1962. They moved to Corry in 1983.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Corry and enjoyed crocheting, reading and flower gardening.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hipple was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace Parks, a sister, Grace White, and two great-great grandchildren.
Surviving her are two daughters and their husbands, Jean and Arthur VanKeuren of Corry and Alice and Gerald Westfall of Moore's Hill, Ind.; a son and his wife, Richard and Marie Hipple of Mercer; and a sister, Beatrice Ross of Titusville.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, today at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m., the Rev. Dr. William Quarles of the First Presbyterian Church in Corry will officiate a funeral service.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry.

Carl E. "Stub" Morrison, 94
Carl E. "Stub" Morrison, 94, of 21 Third Street, Tidioute, died early Tuesday morning, June 3, 2003, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Titusville.
He was born Aug. 19, 1908, near Tidioute, a son of the late Frank and Clara Downey Morrison and had lived in the Tidioute area most of his life. He retired from the Endeavor Lumber Company with 40 years of service. Prior to that he had worked at the Schwab Ford Garage in Tidioute and was the last surviving employee of the former Wolfs Head Refinery in Tidioute.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Downey Morrison, on Jan. 10, 1986, and a brother, Harold Morrison.
He is survived by two sons, Carl R. ( Dick ) Morrison and Terry D. Morrison, both of Tidioute; two grand daughters; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the James M. Higgins Funeral Home, 3 Elm St., Tidioute, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service to be held in the funeral home, Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Gerber, pastor of the Tidioute and East Hickory United Methodist Churches, officiating.
Interment will follow in Tidioute Cemetery.
IONE PARTCH CARR DAVIS, 77
Ione Partch Carr Davis, 77, of Linesville died Oct. 20, 1999, in Meadville Medical Center.
Mrs. Davis was born March 27, 1922, at Steamburg to the late Neil Kay and Audrie Seager Partch.
She first marriage Grant Elbin Carr, who preceded her in death. Her second husband, Jacob James Davis, also died previously.
Mrs. Davis graduated from Linesville High School in 1939 and Meadville Commercial College in 1941.
She worked for Albro Packing Co. for 25 years.
While living in Springboro, Mrs. Davis was council's secretary. After moving to Pine Township, she was the municipality's secretary for 25 years and its tax collector for 21 years.
She had served as president of Springboro Public Library and former president and treasurer of Linesville Historical Society. She was a member of Crawford County Tax Collectors' Association.
Mrs. Davis was of the Protestant faith.
She was an avid reader and a published author, and she enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are: three children and their spouses, Richard and Janice Carr of Titusville, Nancy and David Bernardez of Linesville and Jean and David Nicolls of Conneautville; three step-children and their spouses, James and Darcy Davis of Linesville and Cherrie and Dale Hornstein and Vicki and David Morian, all of Conneaut Lake; six grandchildren, Laura Zirkle, Andrea Barnett, Douglas Carr, Steven Carr, Chad Nicolls and Todd Nicolls; eight step-grandchildren, James Davis, Jarod Davis, Kenneth Hornstein, Jamie Hornstein, Chris Hornstein, Amy Przepiora, Ryan Morian and Megan Morian; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Eells of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Wayne Partch and two infants, died previously.
Interment will be in Penn Line Cemetery.

PATRICIA DAVIS ELLIS
Word has been received that Patricia Davis Ellis of 11500 Yellowbear Road, #6, Cheyenne, Wyo., 82009, a former Titusville area resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, in Cheyenne.
Survivors include her husband, John P. Ellis.
ARGYLE M. VIALE, 78
Argyle M. Viale, 78, of Mount Hope Road, Titusville, RD 2, died at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, in Beverly Healthcare-Titusville, where she had lived since Sept. 3.
Mrs. Viale was born at Harmarville to the late Charles C. and Ida Humphreys Wimer.
She marriage Stephen J. Viale Sr. on July 4, 1940, at Harmarville. He died July 21, 1987.
Mrs. Viale had owned and operated Mount Hope Campgrounds with her husband from 1970 to 1985.
She was a life member of Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Department's auxiliary.
Surviving are: two sons and their wives, Stephen J. and Geraldine Viale Jr. of Titusville, RD 2, and Robert G. and Rosa Viale of Hampton, Va.; 10 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; three sisters, Dorothy Murhammer of Ansonia, Conn., Betty Henry of New Kensington and Helen Sempravivo of DeSoto, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
A son, James Viale; a sister, Delores Wurmb; and a brother, Charles Wimer Jr., died previously.

GERTRUDE FORESTHER WENTZ, 93
Word has been received that Gertrude Foresther Wentz, 93, of Eureka Springs, Ark., died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, in Eureka Springs.
Mrs. Wentz was born Dec. 29, 1905, at Titusville to the late Frank G. and Elizabeth Theubet Foresther.
She marriage Dudley Thomas Wentz of Westfield, N.Y., on July 28, 1926. He died Aug. 30, 1986, at Eureka Springs.
Mrs. Wentz was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at Eureka Springs.
She had been a homemaker.
Surviving are: three sisters, Laura Armstrong of Oil City, Anna Carson of Pleasantville and Helen Steinbuhler of Bellair, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka, Kan., on Oct. 20.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made to St. Walburga Church.
RUSSELL LEROY ATKINS, 60
Russell Leroy Atkins, 60, of Erie, a Titusville native, died at 12:03 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at his home after a long illness.
A memorial service will be held March 11 at a time and location to be announced.
Further funeral arrangements are incomplete.
HELEN M. SHAFFER CHERMELY, 83
Helen M. Shaffer Chermely, 83, died Thursday night, Feb. 24, 2000, at Griffith Nursing Home, Ashland, Ohio, after a short illness.
Mrs. Chermely was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Perry Township, Ashland County, Ohio, to the late Sherman O. and Edith Zimmerman Shaffer.
She was marriage to Joe P. Chermely, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Chermely attended Rowsburg School.
A long-time resident of Euclid, Ohio, she was affiliated with Rowsburg Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Chermely's many jobs included being a baby sitter for many children and a caregiver to many adults.
Surviving are: two nieces, Kathryn Hall of Ashland and Mary Kay Atterholt of Columbus, Ohio; a nephew, Floyd Koegler Jr. of Ringgold, Ga.; eight grand-nieces and -nephews; four great-grandnieces and -nephews; a step-daughter, Dalene Ward of Washington State; two stepsons, Jeff Chermely of Tennessee and Ron Chermely of Alabama; seven step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; several relatives from the Titusville area; and many friends.
A sister, Thelma Koegler, and a brother, Clifford Shaffer, died previously.
PATRICIA C. KOCAN, 73
Patricia C. Kocan, 73, of 4520 Amhurst Road, Erie, formerly of 322 N. Kerr St., Titusville, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at 9 p.m. in St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, after a long illness.
Mrs. Kocan was born Sept. 17, 1926, at Oil City to the late John A. and Victoria Gregory Coogan.
She marriage Joseph W. Kocan on Sept. 15, 1946, at Oil City. He survives.
Mrs. Kocan graduated in 1944 from Oil City High School, where she was a cheerleader and class officer and was elected to the Key Society.
She had been employed by the RFC government agency from the time of her graduation until her marriage. She was later employed as office manager at the Dailey and Kocan Chevrolet/Oldsmobile agency in Titusville from 1964 until she retired in 1989.
Mrs. Kocan and her husband moved to Erie in 1993.
She was a member of St. Titus Church.
Mrs. Kocan was a former member of Titusville Lioness Club and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by twin sons, John Kocan of Meadville and James Kocan and his wife, Karen, of Titusville; a son and his wife, Dr. Richard and Sheila Kocan of Erie; a daughter, Kathy Wisinski of Erie; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three sisters, Judith Gallagher of Oil City, Mary Roess of Meadville and Elizabeth Uhrmacher of Monroeville; a brother, John Coogan of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews.
An infant daughter, Carol Ann, and a brother, Richard George Coogan, died previously.
Interment will be in St. Catharine's Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Titus School, 513 W. Main St.
