Ruth Audrey Bancroft Anthony Thompson, 84, of Riceville, died on March 3, 2000 in the Meadville Medical Center in Meadville.
She was born at home at Brancroft Corners on Nov. 12, 1915, a daughter of the late Edward John and Mabel L. McCrillis Bancroft.
She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1932. She graduated from the State Teachers College of Edinboro Normal School in 1934 and taught elementary school in the one-room schools of Crawford County from 1934 until 1943.
She marriage Theo S. Anthony of Lincolnville on Aug. 14, 1927. She worked at American Tinning and Galvanizing from 1943 to 1945 then returned to teaching from 1949 to 1950. She was postmaster at Riceville from 1951 until she retired in 1981.
She then marriage Maynard E. "Tommy" Thompson of the Lakewood, N.Y., area on June 10, 1977.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theo S. Anthony in 1967, a sister, Edna Sansom of Townville in 1991 and her second husband, Maynard E. "Tommy" Thompson in 1991.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Riceville United Methodist Church, a past secretary of the Bloomfield Ladies Auxiliary and the secretary of the Riceville Cemetery Assoc. She had many hobbies but loved writing poetry, working in her flower gardens and spending time with her lifelong friend, Wilma Covert Shreve. She had great memories of the Bloomfield girls' basketball team and was very proud of her teammates.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue DeAnn Brockman of Lincolnville; two sons, Terry E. Anthony and his wife, Susan of Marietta, Ga., and Ronald T. Anthony and his wife, Karen of Lincolnville; seven grandchildren; three step daughters, Jacklyn McIntyre and her husband, Jack of Lakewood, N.Y., Patricia Sitton and her husband, John of Jupiter, Fla., and Sally Thompson of Long Island, N.Y.; several step-grandchildren; a sister, Neva Gillette of Townville; and a brother, George W. Bancroft and his wife, Lois of Centerville; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment in the Riceville Cemetery in Riceville.
RICHARD GREENAWALT, 62
Richard Greenawalt, 62, 594 Craig St., Rimersburg, died at 2:50 a.m. on May 19, 2000, in Florence, Ken., as a result of injuries received in a tractor-trailer accident.
He was born March 28, 1938, in Monroe Township, Clarion County, a son of William A. and Margaret Rankin Greenawalt. Mr. Greenawalt was marriage on June 22, 1957, to the former Beverly A. Myers. He was a truck driver who was employed by Landstar Ranger Trucking Co.
Mr. Greenawalt was a protestant and a social member of the VFW Post 7132 of Rimersburg. He was an avid hunter and story-teller.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Terry) Kerr of Titusville; Mrs. John (Karen) Rankin of Huey; Laurie S. Castile of Girard; three brothers, James Greenawalt, Paul Greenawalt and Steve Greenawalt all of Sligo; seven grandchildren: Shawn and Dustin Kerr of Titusville; Chrissie and Courtney Rankin of Huey; Casey, Kyle and Lexie Castile of Girard and several nieces and nephews.
Interment will follow in Sligo Cemetery.
The family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the Clarion-Knox VNA, Knox, Pa., 16362 or the Baker Street Church of God, Rimersburg, 16248.
MABLE D. SLOAN, 94
Mrs. Mable D. Sloan, 94, formerly of Hydetown Road, Titusville, died at 9:05 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2000, at Titusville Area Hospital where she had been a patient for the past day.
She had been a resident of the Presbyterian Home since February of 1993.
Mrs. Sloan was born on June 13, 1905, in Titusville to the late Joseph and Mae Hartrup Osborne. She marriage Hugh L. Sloan on Aug. 5, 1922, in Mayville, N.Y. Mr. Sloan died on April 5, 1979.
She attended East Hickory Schools and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Sloan is survived by one son, Robert H. and his wife Rose Sloan of Dale City, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. James E. (Carol) Shrout of Titusville, Mrs. Elbert (Colleen) Landacre of Brocton, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; one brother: James Osborne of Bakersfield, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Miller of Titusville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three grandchildren, James E. Shrout, Jr., Gerald Vroman, Stephen Cochran; and five brothers, Harold, Claude, Arthur, Edwin and Charles Osborne.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 302 W. Walnut St., Titusville.
ARTHUR V. COLLINS, 78
Arthur V. Collins, 78, of 212 11th St., Franklin, formerly of Cooperstown, RD 1 (Dempseytown), died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Collins was born Feb. 26, 1922, at Cherrytree, a son of Walter V. and Lucy Dietrich Collins. He was marriage to Katheryn Lena Hillberg on Feb. 7, 1953, at Kaneville. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 1995.
He was self-employed as a truck driver prior to starting his family. He later drove for Chap Lamey, PennDOT and Trans Penn. He retired from Refiner's Transport in Rouseville in 1983.
Mr. Collins was a member of the Cherrytree Bible Church, where he was a regular usher prior to his wife's illness. He was a member of the local Teamsters Union and a former member of IOOF. He had attended Oakland Township Senior Center. He enjoyed fishing in Canada and tended to a small farm in Dempseytown. He had raised rabbits in his youth.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Collins of Titusville and Leroy Collins and his wife, Cindy, of Franklin; five daughters, Miss Dixie Collins and Miss Dinah Collins, with whom he lived in Franklin; Ms. Lucy Waters of Franklin, Ms. Wendy Collins of Oil City and Mrs. Earl (Carrie) Zeitler of Charlton, N.C.; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Gertrude) Mashburn of Dillsboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Collins.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home today (Saturday) from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral service there at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Jerry Lamey officiating. Interment will be in Cherrytree Cemetery.
EMILY M. WADDINGHAM, 95
Emily M. Waddingham, age 95, died at the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown, on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000.
She was born in Titusville on Oct. 2, 1905, a daughter of Sven and Anna Nelson Gustafson. She was marriage to James Waddingham; he preceded her in death in 1971. Mrs. Waddingham was a home maker and a former member of Titusville Eastern Star. She was also a volunteer at the Titusville Senior Center and at St. James Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a son, James Waddingham of Meadville; five grandchildren, Jill Perricome, Tim Waddingham, Jon Waddingham, Beth Gray and William Dittrich and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Waddingham was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor Dittrich; two sisters, Julia Brickner and Helen Preston and five brothers, Gustaf, Carl, Gary, Robert and Harry Gustafson.
MARGARET L. 'MARGE' GUERRA, 66
Margaret L. "Marge" Guerra, 66, of 418 E. Walnut St., Titusville, died at 2:08 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, at Titusville Area Hospital, where she was admitted April 1.
Mrs. Guerra was born July 13, 1934, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Michael R. and Anna Mullen Geary.
She graduated from Bridgeville High School in 1952.
She marriage James A. Guerra June 23, 1953, in Bridgeville. Mr. Guerra died Dec. 30, 1995.
Mrs. Guerra was formerly employed at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel and J.C. Penney, both in Bridgeville. She was later employed by Phillips Petroleum, Jack Price CPA, Serrins Automotive, Allied Accessories and Auto Parts, Marine Bank (PNC) and finally CVS Pharmacy, all of the Titusville area.
She was a member of St. Titus Church, St. Titus Church Altar and Rosary Society, Titusville Area Hospital Auxiliary and the YMCA.
Mrs. Guerra is survived by a son and his wife, James A. and Judy Guerra of Pleasantville; a daughter, Maureen Flinchbaugh of Fort Wayne, Ind.; five grandchildren, Ryan Guerra, Alecia Guerra, Tyler Guerra, Tara Flinchbaugh and Morgan Flinchbaugh; two sisters, Frances Aspell of Carnegie and Sarah Pajak of Bridgeville; a brother Michael R. Geary of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Elizabeth Patch, died previously.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted at 8:45 p.m. Monday. Service of transmittal will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Titus Church by the Rev. John J. Detisch, pastor. Interment will be in St. Catharine Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Titus Church Endowment Fund, Titusville Area Hospital, the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
RALPH C. 'OAKIE' STURGIS
Ralph C. "Oakie" Sturgis, of 239 School St., Pleasantville, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, shortly after his arrival at Titusville Area Hospital.
Sturgis was born in Centerville to Clinton G. and Laura Reynolds Sturgis. He is the last of his immediate family.
Sturgis was a veteran of World War II, having been inducted into the U.S. Army Feb. 18, 1942, at New Cumberland. He served with Company G 385 1st Infantry Regiment 76th Division in the Rhineland, Ardennes and central Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, American Theater Service Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal with three bronze stars, a Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged Dec. 11, 1945, in Ingomar with the rank of staff sergeant.
Sturgis spent his entire working life in the oil field business. He was formerly self-employed as a drilling contractor. He also worked for Quaker State.
After retirement, he restored old pumping engines.
He was a member of St. Walburga Church, Engine Society and Company G, 385th Infantry Regiment, 76th Division.
Sturgis is survived by his wife, Josephine, of Pleasantville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends will be received Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. Service of transmittal will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Walburga Church by the Rev. Rocco A. Tito, pastor. Interment with full military honors will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Centerville.
Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice.
MARY ALICE TERRILL ARMSTRONG, 70
Mary Alice Terrill Armstrong, 70, of 37024 State Highway 408, Centerville, died at 2:14 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, at Presbyterian University Hospital, Pittsburgh, where she had been a patient since May 31.
She was born Aug. 17, 1930, at Worthville, a daughter of Franklin Eugene and Vena Ann Chamberlin Wonderling. She was marriage to Wayne Terrill, who preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1992. She later marriage Donald "Dick" Armstrong on Jan. 6, 2001, in Titusville. He survives.
She was a graduate of Titusville High School with the class of 1948.
She was a member of Chapmanville Community Church and a former member of Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, Titusville Senior Center and collecting pig ornaments.
Survivors include her husband, a son Emery E. Terrill and his wife, Judy, of Pleasantville; a daughter, Mrs. Blaine (Laura) Marvin of Chapmanville; two stepsons, Paul Armstrong and his wife, Brenda, of Titusville and Dale Armstrong and his wife, Cheryl, of Cadorus; five step-daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Cathy) Armstrong of Titusville, Linda Davidson and her friend, Wayne, of Franklin, Pam Hall and her friend, Tim, of Cadorus, Mrs. Pat (Paula) Cartney of Titusville and Gayle Kaster of Titusville; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Wonderling and his wife, Vikki, of Almogardo, N.M.; five sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Shirley) Steadman of Verona, Va., Mrs. Al (Barbara) Hogue of Conneaut Lake, Mrs. Norma Rockafellow of Saegertown, Mrs. John (Diana) Hoover of Conneaut Lake and Mrs. Leroy (Donna) Adams of Indianapolis, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral service there at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Philip Torre, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Meadville, officiating. Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.

HENRY F. HEINTZ JR.
Henry F. Heintz Jr., Hone Avenue, Oil City, died at 6 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, at his home following a lingering illness.
He was the son of Ellen Fleischmann Heintz Roche, Henry Heintz Sr. and Lynn Roche Sr.
He was employed by Klapek of Reno, and served in the National Guard during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hartle Heintz and family. Also, Ellen Homeier of Oil City, Meem Hawk of Titusville, Peg Kowal of Cincinnati, Rita Rose of Erie, Lynn Roche Jr. of Hydetown and Linda Nettenin of Rochester, N.Y.
Friends may call at Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St., Oil City, today (Saturday) from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Church, Oil City.

Shirley A. Corle, 66, of 511 Colbert Ave., Oil City, died at 7:59 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at the Northwest Medical Center, Franklin.
JUNIOR LEE HAYNES, 71
Junior Lee Haynes, 71, of 146 North Main Street, Seneca, died at 3:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at his residence following an extended illness.
LLOYD B. ARMSTRONG, 76
Lloyd B. Armstrong, 76, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Edinboro Manor. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home.
