Franklin resident was a homemaker
FRANKLIN - Ruth Mayes Jack, 91, 338 Pinoak Drive, Franklin, died at her home Tuesday, June 23, 1998.
She was born Oct. 14, 1906, in Brookville, daughter of the late Walter and Bertha Vasvinder Mayes.
Mrs. Jack was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Jack, on Feb. 27, 1987; they were marriage July 17, 1924.
Also preceding her in death were a son, John Jack Jr.; a grandson, Robert Sutton; a brother, Edward Mayes; and a sister, Pauline Mayes.
She is survived by a son, Walter "Dick" Jack of Burleson, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Mike (Patricia) Sutton of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Isabelle) Allshouse of Brookville; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. Friends may attend a service at Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chesnut St., Franklin, today at 1 p.m. The Rev. John Sass of Uniontown Church will officiate.
Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Norma J. Nason
Owned Just the Right Angle hair salon
Norma J. Nason, 58, 2702 Angle St., died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at Saint Vincent Health Center after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 13, 1939, in Conneautville, daughter of Virginia Viola Thomas Natcher of Erie and the late Clifford William Joslin Jr.
She owned "Just the Right Angle" hair salon. She was a mixologist at several local establishments, retiring in 1993.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Nason of Erie and his wife, Sandra; her fiance, Charles Eighmy; a sister, Shirley Amendola of North East; and two brothers, William Joslin and his wife, Lana, and Terry Joslin and his wife, Carol, all of Erie.
Friends may call at Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 W. 38th St., today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Friday at 8:20 a.m., followed by a Mass at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Lucille Jordan Mowers Greenbeck
Served during World War I as a U.S. Army nurse
Lucille Jordan Mowers Greenbeck, 100, formerly of 12397 East Lake Road, North East, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at Erie Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born Jan. 28, 1898, in Erie, daughter of the late Clark and Carolyn Marshause Jordan.
Mrs. Greenbeck, who lived in North East all her life, was the last World War I veteran living in Erie County. She enlisted in 1918 and served in the U.S. Army as a nurse. She was a member of American Legion Post 105.
She attended nursing school at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. She was a nurse in North East for several years and was an American Red Cross trainer.
Mrs. Greenbeck was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in North East and the Brotherhood of St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Mowers; her second husband, Ralph G. Greenbeck; a daughter, Patricia Manison; a son, William Mowers; and two stepchildren, Bertha Locke and Merle Greenbeck.
She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake St., North East, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Laber.
Burial will be at North East Cemetery.

Dominick Scutella
Owned Scutella's Dry Cleaners in Kane
KANE - Dominick Scutella, 82, of Warren, formerly of Kane, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at Central Care Center in Warren after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Delianova, Italy, son of the late Pasquale and Maria Rosa Caminiti Scutella.
While living in McKean County, Mr. Scutella owned and operated Scutella's Dry Cleaners in Kane for 50 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Rhineland and Ardennes. He earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with an oak leaf cluster. He was a member of VFW Post 1132 and American Legion Post 250.
He was a member of the Warren Senior Center, Knights of Columbus Council 715 and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 130.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Zampogna Scutella, in 1982; they were marriage Oct. 28, 1943.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, Frank Scutella, and a granddaughter, Victoria Marie Haslett.
He is survived by two sons, Pat Scutella of Warren and attorney Frank Scutella of Erie; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Christine) Haslett of Warren; four brothers, Philip Scutella of Kane, Anthony Scutella of St. Marys, Pat Scutella of Ridgway and Joseph Scutella of Erie; seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Cummings Funeral Home, 151 Greeves St., Kane, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Callistus Roman Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Callistus Cemetery.

Bernadette Presor Gray
Was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church
Bernadette E. Presor Gray, 74, of Millcreek Township, died at her home Monday, June 22, 1998.
She was born May 1, 1924, in Erie, daughter of the late Frank and Antoinette Grzesiak Presor.
Mrs. Gray was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed china painting, ceramics and gardening.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Presor.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bernard F. Gray; a daughter, Nancy Swisher of Twinsburg, Ohio, and her husband George; two sons, Michael J. Gray and his wife, Jane, and James Gray, all of Erie; a sister, Theresa Feick of Erie; three grandchildren, Timothy Gray and Jonathan and Marc Swisher; a brother, Charles Presor of Erie; a sister, Theresa Feick of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may attend a service at Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, 459 E. 12th St., today at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Robert E. Chamberlain
Memorial service will be held Sunday
A memorial service has been scheduled for Robert E. Chamberlain of Bradenton, Fla., who died Dec. 8, 1997, in Bradenton.
Mr. Chamberlain, who lived in Erie for many years, worked for American Sterilizer Co. before his retirement. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Erie for 20 years.
Friends may attend a service at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 7180 New Perry Highway, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The service will be led by his surviving children, Donald Chamberlain, Margo Haldeman and Lynn Gardner.

Olga Arden
Cared for her mother for many years
BEAR LAKE - Olga Arden, 76, RD 1 Bear Lake, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at the home of her sister in Bear Lake.
She was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Bear Lake, daughter of the late Andrew and Justine Hanas Arden.
Miss Arden was a 1939 graduate of Lottsville High School. For many years she cared for her mother, then worked for Corry Jamestown Corp. as an assembler and welder, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church and the United Methodist Women in Lottsville. She enjoyed flower gardening and animals.
She is survived by a sister, Ann A. Solinko of Bear Lake; a brother, Michael Arden of Bear Lake; and several great-nephews.
Friends may call at Bracken Funeral Home in Corry on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held there Friday at 8 p.m. A service will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Very Rev. Ronald A. Hazuda, proto-presbyter of St. Nicholas Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of Erie.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Columbus.
