Robert L. Wilson
Was a dairy farmer
Robert L. Wilson, 69, of 18345 King Road, Corry, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at Corry Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Corry on Dec. 19, 1928, a son of the late Wayne and Marion King Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was raised in Wayne Township and attended the former Spencer and Beaverdam Schools. He was a dairy farmer, owning and operating his own farm on Turnpike Road until 1983 when he sold his farm and began helping on his brother's dairy farm on King Road. He retired in 1995. He enjoyed riding horses.
Survivors include a brother, Bernard W. Wilson of Corry and his wife, Norma; a niece, Brenda Frost of Warrenton, Va.; a nephew, Brad Wilson of Corry; and four great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, Corry, Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and attend a service there Friday at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Robert Carroll, pastor of the Wayne Valley, Elgin and McCray United Methodist Churches.
Burial will be at Lawn Cemetery, Beaverdam, Pa.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Corry Unit, Two S. Center St., Corry, PA 16407.

Richard A. Yoder Sr.
Was carpenter in Corry area
Richard A. Yoder Sr., 55, 614 South Center St., Corry, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at his home.
He was born in Oak Ridge, Pa., on Dec. 16, 1942, a son of the late Clyde and Martha Adams Yoder.
Mr. Yoder was raised and educated in Oak Ridge near New Bethlehem, Pa., and moved to Bear Lake in 1958. He had worked at Clymer Bag Co., Firch's Bakery in Jamestown, N.Y., and Viking Plastics in Corry. He later worked as a self-employed carpenter in the Corry area.
He attended Harmony Baptist Church in Waterford and was a member of the Corry Moose Lodge 98 and the Corry VFW Post 264. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Yoder was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Yoder Jr.
Survivors include a son, Richard A. Yoder Jr. of Columbus, Pa., and his wife, Rhonda; five sisters, Mrs. Paul (Doris) Keppel Sr., Mrs. Blaine (Sue) Burkett Sr., Mary Proctor and Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Jukes, all of Corry, and Mrs. John (Betty Jane) Coon of Sigel, Pa.; two brothers, Alfred Yoder of Columbus and his wife, Betty, and Kenneth Yoder of Waterford; three grandchildren, Dustin, Sarah and Alisha Yoder; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, Corry, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held there Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Joseph P. Billingsley, pastor of Harmony Baptist Church in Waterford, officiating.
Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery, Columbus.
Memorials may be made to the Richard A. Yoder Sr. Memorial Fund, in care of the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 North Center St., Corry, PA 16407.

Norbert Szumigala
Kingtown Kennels proprietor raised beagles
Norbert S. Szumigala, 70, of Erie, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at Saint Vincent Health Center.
He was born March 25, 1928, in Erie, son of the late John Stanley and Pearl Kosciuch Szumigala.
Mr. Szumigala, a graduate of Tech High School, was a lathe operator by trade. He was an officer, business agent and served on the executive board of the Wood, Wire and Metal Lather's Union Local 295 for 28 years. He worked for the Erie Housing Authority for 16 years, retiring in 1993.
He was the proprietor of Kingtown Kennels, helped found the Presque Isle Beagle Club and was a life member, former officer and director of the club.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific, and was a member of American Legion Post 771.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
Mr. Szumigala was a former officer of Polish Falcons Nest 610 and received a bronze cross. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and coached Boys Baseball in the 1960s.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Stanley Szumigala; three sisters, Dolores Menuto, Pearljean Wodarski and Dorothy Pepicello; and a brother, Raymond Szumigala.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anna Marie Dolecki Szumigala; three daughters, Kathleen Szumigala and Patricia Arneman, both of Erie, and Mary Beth Yacobozzi and her husband Edward, of Mentor on the Lake, Ohio; two sons, David Szumigala and James Szumigala and his wife Valery, all of Erie; a brother, Michael Szumigala and his wife Ann Marie, of Waterbury, Conn.; a sister, Jean Machuga and her husband George, of Erie; six grandchildren, Mattisin, Alex Jon and Nicholas Yacobozzi and Jonathan Campbell, Adam Arneman and Carey Shields; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Dusckas Funeral Home East, 2607 Buffalo Road, Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. American Legion Post 771 will conduct a service there Tuesday at 7 p.m..
The service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Burial with full military honors by American Legion Post 771 will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens.

Gloria Dyke Ring
Served on Academy High reunion committee
Gloria M. Dyke Ring, 70, of 3004 State St., formerly of 118 E. 30th St., died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Hamot Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1927, in Erie, a daughter of the late Willard B. and Mae Thielmann Dyke.
Mrs. Ring was a 1945 graduate of Academy High School and served on the class reunion committee for many years. She worked as a clerk for Lerners Clothing Store at the downtown and Millcreek Mall locations. She was a life member of the Sunflower Club and the Maennerchor Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Ring, on Sept. 2, 1981.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Jarzomski of Erie and her husband, James, and Carol Clemmer of Wilmington, Del., and her husband, Robert; one son, Robert K. Ring of Erie and his wife, Kathy; six grandchildren, Christine Stenger, Jennifer, Robert and Timothy Ring, and Kelly and Katie Clemmer; three sisters-in-law and two nephews.
Friends may call at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, West 25th and Sassafras streets, Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. J. David Mumford of the Luther Memorial Church officiating.
Burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Western Pa. District, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie, PA 16505.

Emma Jane Carris Smith
Played piano at Stateline Methodist Church
RIPLEY, N.Y. - Emma Jane Carris Smith, 83, of West Side Hill Road, Ripley, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Hamot Medical Center.
She was born in Ripley on June 17, 1915, a daughter of the late Edgar and Bessie Perdue Carris.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the Praise Cathedral in North East. She was active in the church's Joy Club and enjoyed playing the piano, which she did at Stateline Methodist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Smith; a granddaughter, Paula Smith, in 1979; a brother, Gerald Carris; and two sisters, Marvel Lawson and Nellie Janes.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Smith of Ripley; three daughters, Sally Young, Mary Hoyt and Kaye Kennedy, all of North East; two brothers, Ellsworth Carris of Sarasota, Fla., and Charles Carris of Ripley; a sister, Betty Beckerink of Clymer, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Mathews Funeral Home, 104 West Main Rd., Ripley, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Praise Cathedral, Station Road, North East, with the Rev. Jerry Bell officiating.
Burial will be at Northville Cemetery Stateline.

Dorothy Kramer Pinchin
Played organ at Lake LeBoeuf Roller Rink
Dorothy E. Kramer Pinchin, 86, 1160 Western Lane, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at her home.
She was born on June 14, 1912, in Erie, a daughter of the late William G. and Elizabeth Salisbury Kramer.
Mrs. Pinchin attended Academy High School and the Villa Maria Conservatory of Music. An accomplished organist, she helped her late husband, Charles, operate the Lake LeBoeuf Roller Rink in the 1960s, playing the organ nightly. She also played Monday nights at the West Lake Roller Rink and for 12 years served as organist for Trinity Lutheran Church in McKean. She had also played dinner music at the Erie Maennerchor Club.
In addition to her husband, who died in 1988, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred E. and William G. Kramer.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Jean Kreidinger of Erie and her husband, Jack,; four grandchildren, Charles Kreidinger, Kim Liebau, Kevin Kreidinger and Kathy Dougherty; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, W. 9th and Liberty streets, Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Jude Catholic Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Archibald MacDougall
Local musician, played with Erie Philharmonic
Archibald F. MacDougall, 90, 4061 W. 15th St., died Monday, June 22, 1998, at his home following a short illness.
He was born in Erie, March 15, 1908, the son of the late William and Jennie Johnston MacDougall.
Mr. MacDougall was a graduate of Central High School and the General Electric Apprentice Program. He worked at General Electric Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1968. He then worked as a police dispatcher for the Millcreek Township Police Department for 15 years.
He was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church; Zem Zem Shrine, Scottish Rite and Tyrian Lodge 362, Zem Zem Kiltie Band; the GE Quarter Century Club and the American Federation of Musicians.
Mr. MacDougall played trumpet in local bands, French horn with the Erie Philharmonic and was an original member of the Zem Zem Kiltie Band, playing bagpipes. He was an avid golfer and played in the senior league at Elk Valley.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret MacDougall.
Mr. MacDougall is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dolores MacDougall; and a daughter, Patricia MacDougall Jarvis of Silver Spring, Md., and her husband John.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 3816 West Lake Rd., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James B. Patterson officiating.
Burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505; or Lakewood United Methodist Church, 3856 W. 10th St., Erie, PA 16505.

Anthony Walden Moats
Was clinical director Mayview State Hospital
Anthony Walden Moats, M.D., 77, a resident of the Pennsylvania Soldiers & Sailors Home, formerly of Mount Lebanon, Pa., and Fairchance, Pa., died on Friday, June 19, 1998, at the Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born in Uniontown, Pa., on Jan. 14, 1921, son of the late Anthony and Maude Tarr Moats.
Mr. Moats was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. When he practiced medicine, he specialized in forensic psychiatry. He retired as clinical director of Mayview State Hospital.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Blanc and Erma Ames.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Moats of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Elisabeth Ann Oplinger of Charleston, S.C., and Maude Alma Luck of York, Pa.; one son, Anthony Walden Moats of Bangor, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Soldiers & Sailors Home Chapel, 560 W. Third St., on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of a service there at 11 a.m. The Rev. Tim Armstrong will officiate.
The Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home, East 21st and Ash Streets, is handling arrangements.
