Richard (Dick) E. Swanson, 67 of Albion went to his final resting place on July 19th.
He was born in Conneaut, Ohio on Dec. 10, 1938, the son of Emerson and Bessie Stoker Swanson Stevens.
He was employed as a telephone repairman in the Albion Area for 35 years, retiring from Alltel in 1995.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Albion.
A veteran of the Navy, Mr. Swanson joined while in his senior year at Albion Area High School. After graduation he served 2 years active duty.
He served for 10 years on Albion Borough Council and was also involved with the Albion Sportsman’s trapshooting team. He was a member of Western Star Lodge 304 F & AM, the Order of Easter Star, Albion Chapter #22, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Erie, Zem Zem Temple AAONMS of Erie and The Albion Moose Lodge. He served on the Albion Cemetery Association Board for over 25 years.

Survivors include his wife Barbara (Hazen) Swanson, whom he married on Aug. 3, 1985. A son Mark R. Swanson (Shannon). Two daughters, Lori Swanson, Lisa Eppich (Stephen) and two stepchildren, Scott E. Gehr and Shelby Field (Frank). Also surviving are nine dearly loved grandchildren; Sarah, Holly, Ashley, Mitchell, Frank, Jr., Matthew, Brianna, RaeAnna and Elliot Rose. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Friends may call at the Steff Funeral Home, Albion on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend funeral services there on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry A. Reitz, officiating.
Burial will be in Albion Cemetery.

John Louis Michaels
John Michaels, 72, formerly of the Methodist Towers, Erie Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Beverely Health Care, Erie.
He was born in West View, PA on Oct. 30, 1933 the son of the late John and Flora Golavash Michaels.
He graduated from West View High School in 1951. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a retired underwriter for many insurance companies.
He enjoyed studying and reading history and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his former wife, Marilyn, Crossingville; five children, John (Eileen) Michaels, Meadville; Eileen Michaels, Crossingville; Kelly (Jay) Romano, Tunkhannock, PA; Leslie (Barry) Baker, Spartansburg and William Michaels, Pittsburgh, PA.
Further survived by twelve grandchildre
A memorial mass will said on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church, Hazelwood, PA.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
Steff Funeral Home, Albion is in charge of the arrangements.
Edward Joseph Tarkowski III
Edward J. Tarkowski, III, 44 of Erie Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died suddenly on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at his residence.
He was born in Erie on May 31, 1962 the beloved son of Edward and Mary Delaney Tarkowski.
He worked as a carpenter in the construction industry.
He enjoyed cooking, playing darts, working on the computer and music.
Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, Thomas (Valerie) Tarkowski, Cochranton; two sisters, Jennifer Tarkowski; Katherine (Jeffrey) Gross, Wesleyville and his paternal grandmother, Angela Tarkowski, Erie. Further survived by eight nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, 4216 Sterrettania Road, on Sunday from 6 p.m. to time of services at 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Patricia Huya Beers
Patricia Huya Beers, 51, of Girard Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died after a lengthy illness on Monday, March 12, 2007 at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie, PA.
She was born on November 18, 1955 the daughter of the late Michael Huya Sr. and Betty Parker Huya. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics and traveling.
For the past twelve years she was employed at Erie County Office of Children and Youth as a counselor and receptionist.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Beers, son Scott M. Joslyn and his close friend Sarah Basco of Girard; stepdaughters Danyel Beers of North East and Kristen Beers of Waitsfield, VT. Also brother Michael Huya, Jr. and wife Nancy of Saegertown; sisters Kathleen Wetsell, her husband Everett and Dianne Olmstead and her husband Ron, all of Fairview; three grandchildren and a dear friend Sue Hodges.
Further survived by mother in law, Mrs. Valjean Beers; sister in law, Lori (James) Harrison; brother in law, Thomas (Autumn) Beers all of Meadville and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
She will be sadly missed by her many friends.
Friends may call at the Steff Funeral Home, Albion on Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm where services will be held Thursday, at 11 am. Interment will be at Platea Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association of Erie County.
Wayne E. Smith

He was born on August 14, 1924 in Albion, PA to the late Ralph and Ruth (Wiard) Smith.

Survived by his children Rev. Gregory S. (Shirley) Smith of Findlay, OH, Donna Due (Ronald) Hicks of Birmingham, Alabama and Carla (Chris) Livermore of Youngwood, PA. Also surviving is a brother R. Winfield (Joan) Smith of Pennsburg, PA, brother-in-law Forrest Hewitt of CA and sister-in-law Zula Smith of Memphis, TN and 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Wayne retired in 1983 from the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad and was a former member of the Federated Church. He is a current member of the Stonebridge Church of God in Findlay, OH.
Visitation will be held SUNDAY, March 11th, 2007 at the STONEBRIDGE CHURCH OF GOD, 2111 Stonehedge Dr. Findlay from 6:00-8:00 PM and at the STEFF FUNERAL HOME, 188 E. State St. Albion, PA, on MONDAY, March 12, 2007 from 6:00-9:00 PM and one hour prior to the service. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM on TUESDAY, March 13th, 2007 at Steff Funeral Home with Pastor Gregory Smith Officiating and Dr. Ed Huntley Officiating.
Burial will be held in Spring Cemetery, Springboro, PA.
In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute in memory of Wayne to the Federated Church, East Springfield, PA, or Stonebridge Church of God, 2111 Stonehedge Dr., Findlay, Ohio 45840.
Bonnie Soltis
Bonnie Soltis of Albion Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">passed away on Friday, March 09, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in West Springfield on March 9, 1950; the daughter of the late Howard Weldon and Mary Hall Weldon. Bonnie was a teacher in the Northwestern School District. She began teaching right after her graduation from Edinboro State College in 1972, with a BS in Elementary Education. She would later earn a masters degree in Education from Edinboro.
Bonnie worked with the Girl Scouts, many sports boosters, the Albion Fair Board for the Education Committee and was a life member of the West Springfield United Methodist Church, where she also taught Sunday school. She also volunteered at the Albion Food Pantry and served as the auditor for Elk Creek Township.
She spent many summers helping harvest strawberries and sweet corn on her parent’s farm. Bonnie also enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. Her greatest joy came in raising her two children, Erin and Michael, and from being a grandmother.

Bonnie is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, David and their cherished children, Erin Soltis Long and husband Dan of Harrisburg, PA and Michael Soltis of Ann Arbor, MI. She also survived by her delightful grandson, Colton Long.
She is further survived by a brother, Tom Weldon of West Springfield, PA; and three sisters, Lynette Ingold of Newbury, OH, Patty Weldon of Ithaca, NY. and Sally Weldon of West Springfield, PA. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Sunday, March 11th at the Steff Funeral Home, Albion.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 am with Barbara English officiating. Interment will be at Springfield Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
Carol S. Sumner

She was a member and past officer of West Springfield VFW #4965 Auxiliary and DAR. She was involved in Girl Scouts throughout her schooling to become Senior Girl Scout. Carol enjoyed doing crafts, making jewelry and camping. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner Sumner.
Carol was born on November 30, 1955 to the late Wilbert Eugene Confer and Frances Gehr Confer. She was also preceded in Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">death by two brothers, Lawrence Confer and Gayle Confer.
She is survived by her longtime companion George Gabel. Her daughter, Minnie Confer of Springboro; two sons, John E Sumner (Nannette Knight) of East Springfield and James A Sumner (Raine Merritt) of Albion.
She is further survived by four sisters; Cheryl Nichols (Paul) of Erie, Diane Confer of Albion, Beverly Wilson (Albert) of Albion and Darlene Confer (Bill Von) of Erie. Also by her niece Elizabeth Nichols and nephew Billy Jones.
Friends may call at the Steff Funeral Home, Albion on Friday from 3 to 7. Service and interment will be at the family’s convenience.

Margaret Ada Beery

She was an active member of the Keepville Wesleyan Methodist Church, Keepville, PA.
She enjoyed reading books, gardening, fishing, music and baking.

Further survived by 16 grandchildren, several great grandchidren, several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be Albion Cemetery.
