Carmine Caveeck, 76, on Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in UPMC McKeesport. Mr. Caveeck was the owner of Carmine's Barber Shop in Munhall and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Marie M. Caveeck; sons, Carmine M. Caveeck and Anthony L. Caveeck, both of Munhall, and Richard W. Caveeck of Glassport; sisters, Catherine Thomas of Sarver, Ann Maniago of California, Phelomena Devay, Josephine Sambuco, Rose Miller and Antoinette Wilson, all of Turtle Creek; brothers, Richard Cavicchia of Munhall, and the late Michael and Samuel Cavicchia; granddaughters, Deana, Dawn, Lisa and Angela; grandson, Jason; great-grandchildren, Michelene, Morgan, Lauren, Anna and Zachary. Friends may call Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the GEORGE IRVIN GREEN FUNERAL HOME INC., A Golden Rule Member Firm, 3511 Main St., Munhall, where services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Karen Prescott will officiate. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Park.
Sewickley
Newton Chapin, age 92, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001. Beloved husband of Mariana (Lippincott) Chapin for 63 years. Beloved father of Sally Levin and her husband Michael, and William N. Chapin and his wife Amy. Half-brother of Juliana Kimball and James W. Chapin. Grandfather of Sarah Chapin, Emily Levin and Elizabeth Chapin. Mr. Chapin was born June 3, 1909, in Carnegie, Pa., to the late Newton Sr. and Matilda (Bell) Chapin. He attended Shadyside Academy, Choate School and Princeton University. Mr. Chapin served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s in Northern Pennsylvania. After completing his service, he joined Lee C. Moore Corp., a family-owned business. In 1940, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pittsburgh Ordnance District. Mr. Chapin rejoined Lee C. Moore Corp after the war until 1962. Following, he was a consultant and owner of Marshall Stamping and Culverts, Inc. For 25 years, he served on the Edgeworth Borough Council and was its former president. He was a co-founder of Valley Ambulance Authority. He was an avid musician, having compiled many of his works into songbooks. He also enjoyed trap shooting and traveling. Burial will be private. Service Friday at 11 a.m. in the Presbyterian Church of Sewickley. Ruth Flenniken, 88, on Monday, Nov. 5, 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents, James B. and June Beyer Flenniken. She is survived by her sisters, Marjorie and Ann Flenniken, both of Bellevue. Thomas S. Kurowsky, born Dec. 29, 1911, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001. He was a resident of 1530 P&N Drive, Anderson, SC 29621, formerly of Etna and Ambridge. He is survived by his wife, Helen Miller Kurowsky; children, Doris Skibicki of Ohio, Martha Pace of South Carolina, Linda Hatcher of Pennsylvania and Susan Foreman of Arkansas; stepchildren, Edward Miller of Pennsylvania, Walter Miller of Florida, Connie McAuley of Pennsylvania, Lynn Pritts of Florida and Paul Miller of Pennsylvania; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Beyrley; a daughter, Judy Novelsel; and parents, Stephanie Golembeski and Joseph Chihocki. Services will be in Mt. Royal Boulevard Cemetery Mausoleum at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001. Graveside service will follow. Friends and family invited. Richard T. Longmore, age 55, on Monday, Nov. 5, 2001. Born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 13, 1946, the son of Janet E. (Collins) Longmore of Avalon and the late Karl N. Longmore. Mr. Longmore was a Vietnam veteran and a 25-year employee of the U.S. Postal Service working as a mechanization mechanic. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Diettinger) Longmore; two children, Tracy Beth Longmore of Johnstown and Richard T. Longmore of Richland; and a brother, Jack C. Longmore and his wife Debie of Bellevue. Family will receive friends Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME INC., 388 Center Ave., West View, where services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. She is survived by her brother, William R. Maxwell of Ross; and grandparents, Robert J. Sr. and Norma R. Maxwell.
