Clarence H. Woodward, 92, of Greensburg, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born in Lloydsville, Sept. 18, 1907, a son of the late Frederick and Caroline Green Woodward. He was a retired sales representative with the Limbach Co. in Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and its Sunday school class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean L. Woodward; two sons, Cortland D. of Horseheads, N.Y., and Bruce C. Woodward of Greensburg; seven granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Caroline Harris of Syracuse, N.Y., and Pearl Frye of Irwin; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends received Wednesday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, from 11 a.m. until noon, at which time services will be held with the Rev. Scott Peterman officiating. Private entombment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be given to the Otterbein United Methodist Church.

Newton Chapin, age 92, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001. Beloved husband of Mariana (Lippincott) Chapin for 63 years. Beloved father of Sally Levin and her husband Michael, and William N. Chapin and his wife Amy. Half-brother of Juliana Kimball and James W. Chapin. Grandfather of Sarah Chapin, Emily Levin and Elizabeth Chapin. Mr. Chapin was born June 3, 1909, in Carnegie, Pa., to the late Newton Sr. and Matilda (Bell) Chapin. He attended Shadyside Academy, Choate School and Princeton University. Mr. Chapin served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s in Northern Pennsylvania. After completing his service, he joined Lee C. Moore Corp., a family-owned business. In 1940, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pittsburgh Ordnance District. Mr. Chapin rejoined Lee C. Moore Corp after the war until 1962. Following, he was a consultant and owner of Marshall Stamping and Culverts, Inc. For 25 years, he served on the Edgeworth Borough Council and was its former president. He was a co-founder of Valley Ambulance Authority. He was an avid musician, having compiled many of his works into songbooks. He also enjoyed trap shooting and traveling. Burial will be private. Service Friday at 11 a.m. in the Presbyterian Church of Sewickley. Elinor M. (Buechele) Jankowski, 68, of Plum Borough, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. She was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Edward and Elsie (Jessop) Buechele. Elinor was a retired III Clerk of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, Office of Employment Security of South Side, Pittsburgh, and a member of the Pennsylvania State Employee Union. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Jankowski Sr.; and a grandson, Gary Tronsberg Jr. Elinor is survived by four daughters, Vicki McDonnell and husband Ted of Murrysville, Jeannie Jankowski-Shaffer of Arlington, Va., Mary Tronsberg and husband Gary of North Versailles, and Teresa Jankowski at home; a son, R. Anthony Jankowski and wife Carole of Allison Park; a sister, Edna Leghorn of Finleyville; a brother, Ted Buechele and wife Jackie of McMurray; and eight grandchildren, Christine, R. Anthony 3rd and Rebeca Jankowski, Cari Jankowski, Nathan Shaffer, Joseph, Robert and James Tronsberg. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Jane Jankowski of Clinton, N.J.; and a number of nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service for Elinor will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. in the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. at Twin Valley, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177, with the Rev. Dismas Young of St. Mary's Church, Export, presiding. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Carol Louise Probst Lawver, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, after a valiant struggle, in UPMC Passavant, McCandless. She was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Allison Park, the daughter of the late Rudolph A. and Madalene Wise Probst. She is survived by three daughters, Leslie D. Lawver of Oveido, Fla., Lynn D. Musthaller of Cranberry Twp. and Lori D. Climo of Portersville, Pa.; four sons, Larry D. Lawver of Oveido, Fla., Lee D. Lawver of Valencia, Lon D. Lawver of Cranberry Twp. and Lyle D. Lawver of Easton, Pa.; one brother, Ronald Probst of Arkansas; 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Lance D. Lawver, and two brothers. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the GLENN-KILDOO CRANBERRY CHAPEL, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Twp. Funeral services 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
