Joan T. (Valent) Faust, 68, of 300 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in her home. Born Feb. 8, 1933, in Wickhaven, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Charles and Mildred Theresa Valent. She was the wife of the late Wilbert W. Faust, who died in 1991. Joan is survived by a daughter, Cynthia L. Boyd of Hagerstown, Md.; two brothers, Joseph Valent of Newport, Va., and Gerald Valent of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Margaret DeRose of Pittsburgh and Veronica Heck of Fayette City; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the Mt. Nebo Church of God Cemetery, County Line Road, Champion. The arrangements have been entrusted to the GERALD N. MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD.
Hunker
William K. Fox, 92, of Hunker RD1, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg. He was born in Hempfield Township, Feb. 2, 1909, a son of the late James B. and Lilly Wilkinson Fox. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild; two brothers, James Edward Fox and Paul H. Fox; and a sister, Ethel Sebek. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Grace Washabaugh Fox; four children, Joann G. Long and husband, John R., of Mogadore, Ohio, William K. Fox Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Greensburg, Sylvia K. Hohn and husband, Albert, of New Stanton RD1 and Phillip P. Fox and wife, Alice, of Hunker RD1; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a sister, G. Louise Sanner of Cochranton, Pa. He was retired from International Paper and a member of St. Paul's Seanor United Church of Christ, a member of the church council and the Seanor Cemetery Board. Friends will be received at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation at St. Paul's Seanor United Church of Christ, Hempfield Township, Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James H. Ghrist officiating. Interment to follow at Seanor Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Paul's Seanor United Church of Christ.

Mary Lou Walker McWilliams, 72, of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Life Care, Wilkinsburg. She was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Wilkinsburg, a daughter of the late James B. Sr. and Josephine Walker. She was a graduate of Penn Hills High School, Class of 1948, and Duff's Business School. She retired from Family and Children's Services, Monroeville, where she was employed for over 20 years. She was a member of the Penns Woods United Methodist Church, North Huntingdon, and the Elizabeth Township Chapter 418 O.E.S. She is survived by her husband, Charles C. McWilliams Sr.; two children, Charles C. McWilliams Jr. and his wife, Victoria, of North Versailles and Deborah S. Altieri and her husband, Mark, of McKeesport; four grandchildren, Melissa A. McWilliams and Mario, Kyle and Abby Altieri; two sisters, Sandra Roberts and her husband, Bruce, of San Diego, Calif., and Carol Dugan and her husband, Conrad, of Raleigh, N.C.; and a brother, James B. Walker Jr. of Florida; also nieces and nephews. Friends to be received at the FORGIE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services to be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Floyd A. Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park. O.E.S. services will be held Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

George M. Nemeth, 77, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Southwest, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Youngwood, a son of the late Michael and Susan Onusko Nemeth. He was Catholic by faith. Prior to his retirement, he was a carpenter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was a member of the Hecla Sportsmen's Club, and a life member of the VFW Post 3368 of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Rutkowsky Nemeth; a son-in-law, Robert Holmes; and two sisters, Margaret Nemeth and Nancy Young. He is survived by three daughters, Victoria Straslicka and her husband, Bill, of North Hills, Janet Holmes of Ruffsdale, and Georgia Hoak and her husband, Keith, of Norvelt; three grandchildren, Billy Straslicka, Keith Hoak Jr. and Clinton Hoak; four sisters, Virginia Schachte of Southwest, Joanne Immel of Greensburg, and twin sisters, Esther Schall of Latrobe and Betty Uhrinick of New York; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Thursday from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Christopher R. Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Cynthia S. Paoletti, 43, of Elizabeth, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001. A 1976 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, currently attended Duquesne University for graduate work. Webmaster of VIPACE.ORG. Active in the Guild for the Blind. A member of Euclid at Pitt and a member of B.V.S. Sister of Nicholas Charles Paoletti of Brentwood. Daughter of Ernest L. Paoletti of Belle Vernon and Norma J. Steele of Southport, N.C. Stepdaughter of Phyllis Paoletti of Belle Vernon. Also survived by uncles, aunts and cousins. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 10, at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Diabetes Research Center, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Robert S. Ryan Jr., 43, of Hempfield Township, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1958, in Greensburg, a son of Helena L. Sarge Ryan of Jeannette and the late Robert S. Ryan Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Gulf War. He worked as a corrections officer at SCI Greene. He was a member of the Grandview Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Andrew J. and Esther J. Ryan; and maternal grandfather, Carl H. Sarge Jr. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Beverly Smith Ryan; a brother, John Ryan and his wife, Lynn, of Jeannette; a sister, Allanna "Lonnie" Ryan of Beaufort, S.C.; maternal grandmother, Margaret Sarge of Jeannette; nephew, John Andrew Ryan; two nieces, Jessica and Ashley Sarver; and a great-niece, Destiny Sarver. Friends will be received at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Clyde McCants officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. Members of the Grandview Volunteer Fire Department will hold services Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Carl M. Shick, 78, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001. He was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Latrobe, a son of the late Anthony and Myrtle Stoup Shick. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Kennametal with 43 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 515 in Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois E. Johnson Shick; an infant daughter, Mary Margaret Shick; an infant brother, Ralph Shick; two brothers, Donald and Lawrence Shick; and a sister, Mary Clare. He is survived by three daughters, Elaine Williams and her husband, David, of Valencia, Pa., Deborah Blotzer and her husband, Cary, of Derry and Beth Bosco and her husband, David, of Latrobe; a brother, Glenn Shick of Latrobe; two sisters, Thelma Johnston of Derry and Margaret Guter and her husband, Robert, of Ligonier; six grandchildren, Marissa, Kara, Kristin, Katelyn, Eric and Kevin; a special friend, Ruth Barkley of Latrobe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Latrobe. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township. Military services will be held 8:45 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Zellers G. Spicher, 93, of Ligonier, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born April 2, 1908, in Ligonier Township, a son of the late Jacob and Annie Zellers Spicher. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Ligonier. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Laurel Valley Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary O'Toole Spicher, March 25, 1980; his second wife, Martha Shaffer Spicher, Dec. 26, 2000; five brothers, William, Russell, Roy, Harry and Charles Spicher; and a sister, Ruth Welshons. He is survived by a son, Thomas Spicher and his wife, Shirley, of Bethalto, Ill.; a daughter, Joanne and her husband, Larry Livengood, of Midland, Pa.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson, Alex Livengood. Friends will be received at the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC. & CREMATORY, Bell and East Church streets, Ligonier, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Anna Sabol Zychowski, 85, of Trafford, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2O01, in her home. She was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Rankin, a daughter of the late Michael Sabol and Anna Mazer Sabol Sorokas. She was a member of St. Regis Church, Altar Rosary Society and Royal Neighbors 10627. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter E. Zychowski; three brothers, Michael Sabol, George Sorokas and Michael Sorokas; and three sisters Anna Toth, Rose Bazala and Agnes Doperak. She is survived by her loving children, Edward F. Zychowski and Janet A. Fasciano; a sister, Dorothy Hudak; two grandchildren, Christopher J. and Anne M. Fasciano; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the DAVID A. RITTER FUNERAL HOME, 220 Edgewood Ave., Trafford, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Regis Church, Trafford, with Father James D. Tringhese as celebrant. Interment will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery.
Claire A. Funk, 74, of Jeannette, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Penn Township, a daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Klingensmith Woll. She was a member of the Alliance Church of Jeannette and the AARP. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Funk; and three sisters, Alma Peer, Evelyn Brown and Esther Woll. She is survived by two sisters, Rose Marie Bundgard of Mt. Pleasant and Geraldine Gregory of Greensburg; a sister-in-law, Stella Barkefelt of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday in the funeral home at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in Plum Creek Cemetery in Plum Borough.
