Margaret Jean Wheaton, 83, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, in Briarcliff Pavilion. She was born Aug. 20, 1918, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Alex and Mary Madden Chontos. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a nurse aide by McKeesport Hospital and as a seamstress at Cox's. She was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, and the Thursday Morning Bowling League. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard S. Wheaton, on July 26, 1990; and a sister, Renilda Dwojak. She is survived by two sons, Ronald and his wife, Patricia, and Claude and his wife, Patricia, all of Irwin RD1; three daughters, Carol Smalley, Deborah Howe and Diana Morgan and her husband, Robert, all of North Huntingdon; two brothers, Jack and Donald Chontos, both of McKeesport; a sister, Betty Maranak of Charden, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, followed by interment in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westmoreland Hospice, 532 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, or the Alzheimer's Association.

Dennis W. Wilson
Murrysville
Dennis W. Wilson, 52, of Murrysville, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, in his home. He was born Jan. 25, 1949, in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Emmanuel and Bertha Adams Wilson. He was a lead carpenter for Wilson Remodeling and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert V. Wilson, in 1981. He is survived by four brothers and two sisters, Donald of Richmond, Texas, Gerald "Jake" of Export, Eileen Raypush of Plum, Kathleen Serago of Johnson City, Tenn., Timothy of Penn Township and Michael of Slickville; and two nieces and two nephews, Kerri Wilson, Daniel Leech and Stephanie and Matthew Serago. Visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville, where service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. with Father John Moineau officiating. Memorials may be made to the Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville.

Joseph G. Caun, 75, of Scott Township, on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001. Beloved husband of Marianne. Father of Michael, Robert (Theresa), Daniel, Rita (Bill) Adams and the late Joseph Caun. Grandfather of Jessica, Angela, Joseph and Samantha. Brother of Peter Caun. Joe was in the men's clothing business for 50 years. He was employed in the earlier years with Kaufmann's and retired from Botnany 500 Mens Fashions. Visitation Saturday and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township. Divine Liturgy Monday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Maranite Catholic Church. Interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Philomena 'Fanny' D'Abruzzo

Philomena "Fanny" D'Abruzzo, 96, on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001. Beloved wife of the late Albert. Loving mother of Moddie (Kenneth) Booth and Laura (Richard) Shuminsky and the late Albert C. Beloved grandmother of Gale Leonard; beloved great-grandmother of Chad; beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Laura Terreri. Beloved sister of Mildred Normandy and the late Peter, Connie, John and Adele Terreri. Will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Friends received at the JOHN F. Doris M. Diefenderfer, 69, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, in her home. She was born July 13, 1932, in Homeville, a daughter of the late George and Violet (Wain) Wright. Doris was known for helping anyone in need and for her great love for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Ted J. Diefenderfer; a son, John C. Diefenderfer and his wife, Kathy, of Martinez, Ga.; two daughters, Diane L. Bakalon and husband, Nicholas, of McKeesport and Lisa J. Waldron of Punxsutawney; a brother, Herbert Wright and wife, Nancy, of Clairton; four grandsons, Christopher Diefenderfer, Scott Bakalon, Nicholas Bakalon and Eric Waldron; two granddaughters, Valerie Patterson and Ashley Bakalon; a great-granddaughter, Lauren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Wright. Friends will be received Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney. Service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Gerald Holmes officiating. Entombment will follow in Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville.

Albert J. DeMichele
Brackenridge
Albert J. DeMichele, 83, of Brackenridge, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. Mr. DeMichele was born Aug. 13, 1918, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Dominic and Carmella Lizza DeMichele. He was a corporal, having served in the U.S. Army (Blue Devils Division) from 1945 to 1946. He was general manager of Drexel Refractories in Kittanning, and many years prior had worked as the power plant manager for Brackenridge Borough. Mr. DeMichele was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and the VFW Post #945 of Wormleyburg. He is survived by his loving family: his daughter, Donna J. DeMichele Edwards of Brackenridge; two sons, Albert Joseph DeMichele Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Penn and Richard Alan DeMichele and his wife, Teri, of New Kensington; 11 grandchildren, Paul Edwards, Shelly Witkorek, Sharon Woodmansee, Christian Widmer, Edward, Matthew, Joshua, Lori DeMichele, Kristopher, Keli and Kim Trettel; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Zeola DeMichele, January of 2000; a daughter, Mary Lou Widmer DeMichele, in 1986; a grandson, Gregory Widmer, in 1988; brothers, John, Michael, Anthony, Dominic and James DeMichele; and sisters, Carmella Caruso, Helen Shogan, Pauline DeMichele, Josephine Ciacco, Susan Parissenti and Mary Zeola. Fryer of Shaler; sister of Veronica Behr of Millvale and Selma Buttersnitz of Pittsburgh and the late Anna Slanina, Margaret Boxberger, Elizabeth Pflumm and John Pavlick; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Celebrating Mrs. Fryer's life with her family at the FRANK R. John F. Lesnak, 82, of Homestead, on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a retiree of U.S. Steel, Homestead Works, after 40 years of service. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret T. Lesnak; and brother of the late Ann, Mary and Michael. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and close friends. Visitation will be Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.V. ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 315 E. 10th Ave., Homestead. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony Worship Site of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish.

Mildred J. Nylander

Formerly of Pittsburgh
Mildred J. Nylander, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, in her home. She was the widow of Gus John Nylander. Born June 22, 1912, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late John and Ann (Baumgart) Griffith and had lived in Stroudsburg for the past 20 years after moving from Pittsburgh. Prior to retirement, Mildred had worked for Betsy Ann Candies, a homemade candy business in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Stroudsburg. She was also a volunteer for the Children's Clothing Room of the First Presbyterian Church and for Meals on Wheels of Monroe County. Surviving are a daughter, Judith Douds and her husband Dennis of Stroudsburg; a son, Glenn Nylander and his wife Judith of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren, Jill Koerber, Douglas Douds, Amy Jones, Elizabeth Nylander and Sarah Nylander; and six great-grandchildren, Zachery Koerber, Tyler Koerber, Morgan Koerber, Gus Douds, Carter Jones and Marley Jones. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Memorial services will be Monday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. in United Presbyterian Church, Brookline Boulevard, Pittsburgh, with the Rev. Goff officiating. Private graveside services and burial will take place in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh. The family requests memorial contributions to the Children's Clothing Room, c/o First Presbyterian Church, 575 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Arrangements by the WILLIAM H. Oliver J. Shanahan, age 79, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, in Spring Hill Regional Hospital in Florida. He was born May 20, 1922, in Pittsburgh, to the late Oliver Shanahan and Bessie Fife Shanahan Caldwell. Mr. Shanahan was a retired electrician with I.B.E.W. Local Union #5. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Bohnert Shanahan; his children, Jim Shanahan of Florida, Donna Ciarkowski of Texas, Judy Williams of Cranberry, Howard Bohnert of Mars and Cathy Kennedy of California; also 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends received Sunday, Nov. 11, and Monday, Nov. 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the HERBERT R. KING JR. FUNERAL HOME, INC., Route 8 at 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park (Hampton), where funeral service will be Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Darcy E. Hawk of Gibsonia Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment following in Pinewood Memorial Park in Cranberry.
