William J. Filtz, 78, of North Huntingdon, died Sept. 13, 2001.
Born March 24, 1923 in North Huntingdon, he was a son of Lawrence and Margaret (Spurk) Filtz.
Prior to his retirement, he was a boilermaker for U.S. Steel in Braddock.
A member of the Church Of The Immaculate Conception and its former Holy Name Society, he was a World War II Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Regis Filtz.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Lea (Susin) Filtz; sons, William Filtz Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Valdosta, Ga. and Thomas G. of North Huntingdon; daughters, Patricia Mower and her husband, William, of McKeesport, Elizabeth of Irwin, Delores Benson and her husband, Gary, of Jeannette, Carol Lichtenfels and her husband, Ken, Ann E. Novak and her husband, Michael, both of North Huntingdon; sisters, Rose Povirk of North Huntingdon and Margaret Gadagno of Waterloo, S.C.; brothers, Raymond of North Huntingdon and Lawrence of East McKeesport; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home. Mass was at Church Of The Immaculate Conception. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Ceme-tery.
Memorials may be sent to UPMC Hospice Development Dept., Medical Arts Building, Suite 400, 3708 Fifth Ave., Pgh. Pa. 15213 or a charity of the donor's choice.
Frank J. Garcar, 86, of North Huntingdon died Aug. 28, 2001.
Born July 17, 1915, in Spangler, Pa., he was the son of Frank and Mary (Serro) Garcar. He was a retired owner/operator of Garcar Heating and Air Conditioning.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 6th Armored Division, European Theater, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a member of American Legion Post 359 of Irwin, VFW Post 781 of Irwin, St. Agnes Church and SNPJ Lodge 87 of Herminie. He also played with the Martin Serro Trio in the late 1930s.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Anthony and Leonard Garcar.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Angeline (Sladich) Garcar; daughter, Mary and her husband, Dr. Albert Bernath of Danville; grandsons, Michael and Joseph Bernath; and brother Martin Garcar and his wife, Elsie.
Friends were received at Joseph Nickels Funeral Home. Mass was at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church. Interment was at Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
The Rev. Donald Dalke, 77, of Irwin died Sept. 10, 2001, in Briarcliff Pavilion.
Born Sept. 23, 1923, in North Braddock, he was the son of Herman and Minnie (Jewell) Dalke.
Mr. Dalke was pastor of Gratztown Primitive Methodist Church and formerly served congregations including Trinity United Methodist Church and was interim pastor at United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant and West Hempfield Presbyterian Church of Irwin. He was a graduate of University of Pittsburgh and graduated magna cum laude from Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, N.J.
He also served as an instructor at Westmoreland County Community College.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Herman and Albert Dalke.
Friends were received at William Snyder Funeral Home. Interment was at Monongahela Cemetery.
Anna DiMatteo Paterra, 93, of North Huntingdon died Sept. 11, 2001 in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital.
Born March 31, 1908, in Donora, she was the daughter of Ralph and Mary (DiMatteo) Picardi and James DiMatteo.
Mrs. Paterra worked at the McKeesport Tin Mill and Glassport Glass House Co.
She was a member of the Church Of The Immaculate Conception and former member of St. Eugene's Church in Liberty Borough.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Paul A. Paterra, who passed away July 28, 2001.
Surviving are sons, Falco and his wife, Edna, of McKeesport; Paul and his wife, Jean, of North Huntingdon; sisters, Ida Krunksy, Stella Bardas and Agnes Mols; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home. Mass was at Church Of The Immaculate Conception. Interment was at New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.
George Draghi, 62, of Export, on Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999. Born Feb. 4, 1937, in Export, a son of the late Antonio and Amelie Callauid Draghi. He was a member of the Italian American Club, Export. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Peonoske. Surviving are a son, Michael of Greensburg; three brothers, Aldo of Slickville, Anthony and wife, Linda, of Delmont, and Eugene of Export; four sisters, Mary, and Yvonne Stimmell and husband, Sam, all of Export, Frances Mattie of Delmont, and Lorraine of Youngwood; and a grandson, Nicholas. Friends will be received at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Export, with the Rev. Dismas Young as celebrant. Interment Grandview Cemetery, Export.
Bronwen E. "Bonnie" Branthoover, 78, of Export RD8, (Washington Township), died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, in the Beverly Health Care/Murrysville nursing home. Born February 22, 1921, in Johnstown, she graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1943, and was employed as the Washington Township School District's first supervisor of music. She was a member of the Poke Run Presbyterian Church in Mamont and, for a number of years, was the church organist and choir director. For many years, she taught private piano lessons in her home, and often served as organist for several other area churches. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert M. Branthoover; four children: Cindy Branthoover of Miami, Fla., Jeff Branthoover of Export RD2, Marianne Kapustik and her husband, Jim, of Vandergrift, and Gary R. Branthoover of Delmont; and two granddaughters, Kristen and Heather Magee of Vandergrift. Funeral arrangements are private. Should friends desire, memorial remembrances may be made in Mrs. Branthoover's name to a charity of choice. JOHN L. Sally Ondulick, 61, of Webster, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at the home of her sister. Born in Yukon, May 15, 1938, a daughter of the late John D. and Kathryn Dermota Gregory. Mrs. Ondulick was employed as a cook at the Belle Vernon Kmart restaurant. Mrs. Ondulick was also a member of the Rostraver Fire Dept. #1 (Webster) Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean C. "Dino" Ondulick. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. John (Betty) Reho of Belle Vernon; a brother, John "Jack" Gregory of Webster; several nieces and nephews; and two aunts, Frances Kodrin and Mary Fabian, both of Yukon. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Boulevard, Monessen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at West Newton Cemetery.
Joe A. Trozzo, 95, of Monessen, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, in the William Penn Care Center. Born in Washington, Pa., Dec. 24, 1903, a son of the late Patsy and Rose Peluso Trozzo. He was a resident of Monessen for over 75 years, and a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. He was a former member of the Sons of Italy and the Italian Mutual Aid Society. He was also a member of the Garibaldi Society of Dunlevy. He was retired from the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Monessen plant, having worked in the blast furnace department. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Patsy S. and Betty Trozzo of Murrysville, and Carmine A. and Lorraine Trozzo of Monessen; seven grandchildren, David, Larry, Ronald, Timothy, Joseph, and Richard Trozzo, and Patti Roman; also four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susie (Orrico) Trozzo on Nov. 6, 1999. Friends will be received Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Funeral services will be held Monday with a 9:30 a.m. blessing service in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation, c/o the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dept. of Neurology, 322 Scaife Hall, Pittsburgh, PA 15261.
