Anna Wiester Hill, 84, of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Slickville, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999. She was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Franklin Township, a daughter of the late Albertiss R. and Gertrude E. Beaver Wiester. She was a member of the Poke Run Presbyterian Church, Apollo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hill; and two sisters, Alice Kemerer and Alma Walker. She is survived by a stepson, William Fred Hill of Maryland; two stepdaughters, Alice Catherine Rice of Kansas and Dee Genevieve Akers of Virginia; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Miller, of Slickville; a brother-in-law, Dean Walker, of Greensburg; four stepgrandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are being received at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne C. Blaser officiating. Interment Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
Randy Lee Holby, 45, of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., formerly of New Alexandria, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at his home. He was born Oct. 30, 1954, in Greensburg, a son of Huldah (Semencar) Holby of New Alexandria and the late Merle Holby. Randy's passion in life was working in printing. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Christine Holby of New Alexandria; a wife, Tonia Holby of Georgia; a sister, Irene Casteel and husband, Jonathan, of Greensburg; a brother, Dennis Holby and wife, Cathy, of New Alexandria; a granddaughter, Samantha Woollen; numerous nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Kim O'Doherty. The family will be receiving family and friends at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., AT TWIN VALLEY, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, beginning Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Randy's funeral service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Glenn Burrows of the Delmont Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park. Kevin P. Altman, supervisor, in charge of arrangements.
Albert N. Crosby, 73, a resident of the Veterans Administration Home and Hospital for the past 49 years, formerly of South Main Street, Southwest Greensburg, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Pittsburgh. He was born May 6, 1926, in Greensburg, a son of the late Richard Crosby (U.S. Army) and Grace Long Crosby. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving as a radio technician, tail gunner and dive bomber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Crosby (U.S. Army), Glenn Crosby (U.S. Army), and Joseph Crosby; and a sister, Margaret Rollock (WAC, U.S. Army). He is survived by six brothers, Howard D. Crosby of San Diego, Calif. (U.S. Navy frogman), Ralph H. Crosby of Greensburg RD5 (U.S. Army), William R. Crosby of Southwest Greensburg (U.S. Navy frogman), Harry C. Crosby of Greensburg, James E. Crosby Sr. of Mt. Pleasant RD6 (U.S. Army), and Clarence E. Crosby of New Lexington, Ohio (U.S. Navy); a sister, June Back of Jeannette; and 31 nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with Mr. William E. Rahl Sr., chaplain of VFW Post 33 Honor Guard, officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillview Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard, Greensburg.
Foster R. McNair, 8O, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999. He was born Dec. 18, 1918, in North Carolina, a son of the late Deverreau and Blanche Brown McNair. Foster was raised in Standard and was a graduate of the former Hurst High School. He was a resident of Mt. Pleasant since 1950. Prior to his retirement, he worked in the steel industry for over 43 years for USX. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Foster was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Connellsville. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Cora J. Groce McNair; his loving children, Marvin J. McNair and his wife, Bonita, of Greensburg, Barbara A. Howard and Debra S. Pinkney, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Corrine M. Johnson and her husband, Glenn, of Mt. Pleasant; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Martin McNair and Robert Joseph McNair, both of Baltimore, Md., Daniel McNair of Lawnside, N.J., and Thomas McNair of Marion, Ind.; and three sisters, Edna Billy of New York, Ruth Henderson and Genivieve Nicholas, both of Fayetteville, N.C. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Stephen F. McNair; a brother, Coleman McNair; and a sister, Thelma Stanton. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Lloyd R. Chesnut officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Mary Cline, 84, of Penn, our beloved mother, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999. She was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Export, a daughter of the late Ralph E. and Grace Smith Hill. She was a member of Ascension Church in Jeannette and a former member of Hill's Church Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Export. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Cline; a son, Gary E. Kline; two great-grandsons, Jason A. Gray and George J. Cline; three brothers, Charles E., Jacob W. and Richard G. Hill; and four sisters, Zelda M. Hill, Marie Hill, Stella C. Hill and Nora E. Bollinger. She is survived by five sons, Donald and wife, Violet Cline, of Jeannette, Melvin and wife, Emily Cline, of Apollo, Barry and wife, Barbara Cline, of Jeannette, Richard Cline at home, and Jay and wife, Susan Cline, of Penn; three daughters, Mrs. Pete (Hilda) Starry of Export, Mrs. John (Kay) Moff of Jeannette and Colleen Cline of Jeannette; a daughter-in-law, Susanne Kline, of Jeannette; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha G. Holt, of Export; a brother, William W. "Bill" Hill, of Blairsville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in the Ascension Church, Jeannette. Michael Gritzer, 79, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, in Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas. He was born July 20, 1920, in Marguerite, Pa., and was a longtime resident of Greensburg. He was a retired hotel manager, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Gorlick of Las Vegas; a son, Galen Gritzer of Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Jane Giovanni of Naples, Fla., Sally Steele and Elizabeth Gritzer, both of Pittsburgh, and Helen Donnelly of Ligonier; a brother, Frank Gritzer of Conneaut, Ohio; and six grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the PALM MORTUARY-EASTERN, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123, (702) 464-8500. Fred M. Prah Sr., 78, of Derry (Peanut), died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, at his home. He was born Feb. 19, 1921, in New Derry, a son of the late John and Louise Lekse Prah. He was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Church, New Derry. He was retired from the Latrobe Steel Co., and was a World War II veteran, having served six years in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. During the war, he was a small arms weapons mechanic responsible for inspection and repairs on all types of hand and shoulder weapons and machine guns. He was a loving husband and father, and an avid hunter and outdoorsman who also enjoyed gardening. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Louis, John and Joseph Prah; and three sisters, Mary Ream, Rose Benedict and Frances Opatka. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary A. Rick Prah; two sons, Fred Prah Jr. and special friend, Diane Williams, of Shaler Township and James Prah and his wife, Gretchen, of Latrobe; five daughters, Janet McNaughton and her husband, Philip, of New Alexandria, Diana Kostelnik and her husband, Anthony, of Latrobe, Carol Downs and her husband, George, of Loyalhanna, Mary Prah of New Derry, and Donna Hogue and her husband, Marvin, of Blairsville; and a brother, Rudolph Prah of Derry. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Christina Downs and her husband, Ray Rager, Eliott Downs and his wife, Janice, Emilie Kostelnik and her fiance, Arthur Ray, Kimberly Kostelnik, Jodi Kostelnik, Ryan McNaughton, Douglas Prah and Heather Prah; a great-granddaughter, Jessica; and several nieces and nephews. Friends were received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and will be received 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Martin's Church with the Rev. Arthur J. Holtz, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment St. Martin's Cemetery. Military services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Stanley "Stan" Janoscrat, 83, of New Alexandria, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, in his residence. Born May 8, 1916, in Cambria County, a son of the late Martin and Phoebe Zapp Janoscrat. He was retired from Westinghouse Speciality Metals Plant in Blairsville and was a member of St. James Catholic Church of New Alexandria. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Alice C. Shanefelter Janoscrat; a son, Martin Janoscrat; three sisters, Mary Bache, Kathryn Petras, and Julia Janoscrat; and two brothers, Albert and Joseph. He is survived by six children, Barbara Goblinger of Export, Julia Carlson and husband, Larry, of Blairsville, Linda Janoscrat, David Janoscrat, Eric Janoscrat and wife, Barbara, and Kathy Janoscrat, all of New Alexandria; three grandchildren; seven sisters, Adele Brandt, Phyllis Reagan, and Carol Yasakovitch, all of Harrisburg, Florence Hecker of Georgia, Elizabeth Musselman and Martha Schaar, both of New Jersey, and Agnes Janoscrat; and a brother, Andrew Janoscrat, also of Harrisburg. Friends will be received Thursday evening from 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets in New Alexandria. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church in New Alexandria with the Rev. Lawrence T. Persico as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township.
