Stahlstown
Joseph J. Hardy Jr., 64, of Stahlstown RD1, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Bovard, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Slagel) Hardy. Prior to retirement, he worked as a truck driver, and had served with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the Possum Hollow Rod & Gun Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna McClellan and Margaret Petro. He is survived by four children, Mary Renee, Patty, David and Eric; three sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Mary) Kubiczki of Pittsburgh, Helen Heck of Baltimore, Md., and Pauline Wigfield of Greensburg; a brother, Eugene A. Hardy of Armbrust; a special friend with whom he lived, Mary Ament, and her children, Matt Ament, Brenda Lenhart, and Tammy Soforic and her daughter, Andrea; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Pleasant Unity, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Xavier Elambassery officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township.
George R. "Sarge" Chopp, 80, of Sutersville, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Borough, after a brief illness. He was born April 7, 1919, in Smithdale, a son of the late John and Barbara Lesso Chopp. He worked for Consol Coal for 44 years. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Sutersville, and the church's Holy Name Society. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a 50-year member of the VFW #7812, West Newton. Beloved husband for 51 years of Helen (Klus) Chopp. He was the loving father of four children, Carolyn Reilly and Constance Chopp, both of Philadelphia, George Chopp Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Diane Kriss of Uniontown. Also, two grandchildren, Johanna Helen and Zachary George Reilly; two sisters, Helen Kezmoh of Arizona and Evelyn Chopp of Sutersville; a brother, Andrew Chopp of Sutersville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Sutersville, with the Rev. James D. Vasil as celebrant. Interment with full military honors will be in West Newton Cemetery. Parish rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Penn Township
Helen E. "Honey" Beck, 86, of Penn Township, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in Huntingdon Ridge Mature Living, North Huntingdon. She was born May 18, 1914, in Penn Township, a daughter of the late Edward N. and Hazel Ella Bush Good. She was a member of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manor. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 69, of Jeannette and the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Lodge 18. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Beck, in 1996; and a sister, Mary Louise Good Lauffer. She is survived by a brother, Robert E. Good of Greensburg; two nieces, Darlene Davis and husband, Glenn, of Manor and Kay Olson and husband, Jim, of St. Charles, Ill.; a grandniece, Tracy Davis; and grandnephews, Lance Davis and Kirk Stewart. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Norm Nething officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Penn Township. The Order of the Eastern Star will hold services Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Irwin
James A. Beiter, 65, of Irwin died Thursday, March 8, 2001, in Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. He was born May 29, 1935, in Paintertown, a son of the late Frank and Gertrude Long Beiter. He was the owner of James A. Beiter Construction and a retired employee of American Bridge as a member of Iron Workers Union Local #3. He was a member of Paintertown Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shidle Lodge 601 Free and Accepted Masons, Irwin, and a social member of the Paintertown and North Irwin volunteer fire departments. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Yurisinec; and three brothers, Eugene, John and Marion Beiter. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Raling Beiter; two daughters, Cynthia Lewis of Paintertown and Susan Kelly and her husband, William, of South Fayette; two grandchildren, Dawn Yaklich and James Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Yaklich and Tristin Lewis; three brothers, William Beiter of Paintertown, Richard Beiter of Adamsburg and Robert Beiter of North Huntingdon; three sisters, Almeda Brentzel of North Huntingdon, Marie Smetak of Herminie and Katherine McSwiney of Paintertown; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Dorothy J. Worth officiating. Interment will follow in Irwin Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon.
Jackie (Goddard) Hauck, 90, of Murrysville, formerly of Monroeville, died Nov. 16, 2002, at Forbes Regional Hospital.
She was born in Maryville, Tenn..
Mrs. Hauck was the former past president of Monroeville Women’s Garden Club.
She was active in Monroeville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas Hauck Sr.; her sons, David and Thomas Hauck Jr.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at Gene H. Corl Funeral Home.
A service was held at Monroeville United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Morse officiating.
Interment was at Marchand Cemetery.
Betty Emerick, 80, of Murrysville died Oct. 3, 2002.
Born on July 26, 1922, in Wilkinsburg, she was a daughter of Reuben and Elizabeth Fenninghouse Harris.
Mrs. Emerick was a member of First United Methodist Church of Murrysville and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a prior employee of Gimbel's.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Emerick; and a brother, Reese Harris.
Surviving are daughters, Darlene McCune of Ducansville, Karen Harvey of Hooversville and Joanne Cipriani of Murrysville; sons, Dale Emerick of North Huntingdon, Gene Emerick of Greensburg and David Emerick of Murrysville; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Sholes of Verona.
Friends were received at John T. Hart Funeral Home. Service was held at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Wagner and Rev. Mary Grey Emmett co-officiating.
Interment was at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont. Memorial contributions are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church in Delmont.
Anthony G. German, 79, of Penn Township died July 26, 2002.
Born Nov. 22, 1922, in New Salem, Pa., he was the son of John and Catherine (Stana) German. Mr. German was the former owner and operator of the Pussy Cat Lounge in Peters Township.
He was a veteran of World War II having served with the Merchant Marine. He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Amy (Lewis) German and a son, James Miller of Columbus, Ohio: a daughter, Monique Wertz of Hopewell; four grandchildren; brothers, John, Michael and Joseph German; and a sister, Amelia Lemansky.
Friends were received at William Snyder Funeral Home. Mass was at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Marys Cemetery, Uniontown.
Raymond S. Rothey, 81, of Adamsburg, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Sept. 1, 2001, in Baldock Health Care Center.
Born Dec. 3, 1919, in Eliza-beth, he was the son of Ray-mond and Agnes (Thomas) Rothey. Mr. Rothey was a retired milkman with Farm Dairy.
He was a member of Bryn Mawr Church of Christ in White Oak, Masonic Lodge 641 where he was a 32nd degree Mason, Tall Cedars of Lebanon AL-O-Mon Forest 138, Western Pennsylvania Teamsters, Son-shiners group of McKeesport, AARP and White Oak American Legion. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Edmunson) Rothey. Surviving are his children, Keith Rothey of Dallas, Texas, Fred Akerberg of Mico, W. Va., James Akerberg of Glendale, Pa., and Kay Beech of Adamsburg; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends were received at Shirley-Kukich Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephanie Hart officiating.
Interment will follow at Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to Alzheimer Association or Three Rivers Hospice.
Frances (Regina) Terbot, 94, of Manor died Aug. 27, 2001, in Jeannette.
Born Oct. 22, 1906, in Claridge, she was the daughter of Matthew and Mary (Gasboda) Regina. Mrs. Terbot was a member of SNPJ Lodge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Terbot; six brothers, Frank, Matthew, John, Joseph, Martin and Andrew Regina; and sisters, Mary Westerholm and Anna Rousakis.
Surviving are her sons, John of Buffalo, N.Y., Charles of North Huntingdon and William Terbot of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Marie Thomas of Churchill; a sister, Della Fuller; 13 grandchildren, ; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at Vincent V. Rodgers Funeral Home. Interment was at Irwin Union Cemetery.
Frank J. Oberch Jr., 55, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Turtle Creek, died Dec. 8, 2002.
Surviving are his sisters, Dorothy Brooks and Nancy Bick; three nieces; a nephew; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Friends were received at Soxman Funeral Home.
