Sophia Frances (Rafacz) Randolph, 85, of Orange Park, Fla., formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in Doctors Lake Health Care, Orange Park, Fla. She was born March 26, 1914, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late John and Mary Fudala Rafacz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Randolph in 1968; three brothers, John, Michael and Steve Rafacz; and a sister, Philomena Rafacz. Mrs. Randolph was a former member of the Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Rosary Society and Christian Mothers. She is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Phyllis Forrest and her husband, Thomas, of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; her grandson, Thomas Jeffrey Forrest of Jacksonville, Fla.; and her brother and sister, Frank Rafacz and his wife, Irene, of Mt. Pleasant and Marianne Miscovich and her husband, Louis, of Greensburg. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at GALONE-CARUSO'S, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Transfiguration R.C. Church, Mt. Pleasant. Interment Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. The Transfiguration Holy Rosary Society will recite the rosary in the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m.
John E. "Jack" Ralph Jr., 81, of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Irwin, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at his residence. Born Nov. 21, 1917, in Irwin, he was a son of the late John Elias Sr. and Ann (Hrabak) Ralph. He was treasurer of U.S. Steel Corp. He was past president of the Association of American Railroads Treasury Offices, Citizens Crime Watch and Good Fellowship Club. He was trustee of Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh, a 32nd Degree Mason, life member of Syria Temple Shrine and Shidle Lodge #601, and was elder of the Presbyterian Church in Pompano Beach, Fla., and Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah (Bailey) Ralph, who died in 1978; and his second wife, Dorothy (Johns) Ralph, who died in 1992. Surviving are a sister, Betty R. Donaldson of Wisconsin; a daughter-in-law, Hanna Barker of Boca Raton, Fla.; an aunt, Lula Ralph of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert C. Hill officiating. Interment in Irwin Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Irwin. Masonic services will be held Sunday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Joseph Natale, 79, of Daytona Beach, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, in Daytona Beach. He was born July 18, 1920, in Jeannette, a son of the late Michael and Anna Tomasso Natale. Prior to his retirement, he was a mail carrier in Daytona Beach, and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Ressler Natale; three brothers, Anthony, Camile and Michael Natale; and two sisters, Angeline Goldino and Dolores Ausec. Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Natale of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Jeanne Priemer of Deltona, Fla.; two grandchildren, Amanda and Robert Priemer; a brother-in-law, Bill Ressler of North Huntingdon; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Joseph and June Bertani, both of North Huntingdon; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, with Pastor Dale W. Roddy officiating. Arrangements by JOHN V. Born July 27, 1962, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Frederick and Sue Walter Lau of North Huntingdon. Mr. Lau was a senior systems software engineer with Scientific Applications International Corp. He was a member of Westside Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville.
A 1981 Norwin and 1986 University of Pittsburgh graduate, he was an Eagle Scout and member of Sports Car Clubs of America where he formerly raced in State College, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Pamela Webb Lau; sons, Benjamin and David Lau; a brother, James Lau and his wife, Bonni; nieces Kristi and Megan Lau; and grandmothers, Lois Davis and Grace Armstrong.
Friends were received at Shirley-Kukich Funeral Home. Services will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Thomas Rhodes officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to a fund for the Lau sons in care of Pam Lau, 540 Leger Rd., North Huntingdon, Pa. 15642.
Helena Eleanora LaFrance Calisti, 73, of Penn Township, passed on to her new life on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, in the warmth and comfort of her home. She was the devoted wife of Lewis J. Calisti Sr., who passed away Feb. 3, 1999. She was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Export, the daughter of the late Marion LaFrance and Mary Benn LaFrance Cook. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister, Virginia Chesky. She is survived by her brother, Marion "Tony" LaFrance of New Castle and the following children: Lewis Calisti Jr. and wife, Andrea, of Maryland, Gregory Calisti and wife, Jeri, of Florida, Cheryl DeMarchi and husband, Bill "Sparkie," of Penn Township, and Keith Calisti and wife, Sharon, of North Irwin. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. Helena enjoyed a variety of hobbies from making gorgeous quilts, creating lovely stained glass items, to continually developing her perennial gardens. A voracious reader, Helena felt one should always continue to learn something new each and every day. But the absolute loves of her life were her four lovely granddaughters, Nicole and Marisa Calisti of Maryland, Maria Calisti of North Irwin, and Gabrielle DeMarchi of Penn Township. Friends will be received at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A private celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. David Troxler officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Export. Family prefers memorials to Westmoreland Hospice, 532 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, or to the Penn Township Library.
Marcella Ann Carver, 79, of Delmont (Cloverleaf Estates), formerly of Murrysville, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999. She was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Duquesne, the daughter of the late John and Susannah Wargo Kendall. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont, and a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Murrysville; a past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine, past Queen of Dames of Malta and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paige E. Carver, in 1981. She is survived by four children, Paige Ann Moyer and her husband, Wayne, of Murrysville, Russell L. Carver and his wife, Sheryl S., of Murrysville, Richard L. Carver and his wife, Jeanne, of Murrysville, and Susan Marie Kosmatine and her husband, Cliff, of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Wayne, Richard, Russell, Heather, Nicholas and Clay; a great-grandchild, Corey; a brother, Jack Kendall of Fredericksburg, Va.; and three nephews in Virginia. Visitation Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont, with the Rev. James R. Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Louis H. DeCecco Jr., 49, of Murrysville, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, in Kane, Pa., while deer hunting. He was born Sept. 20, 1950, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Louis H. and Emma T. Franco DeCecco. He attended CCAC, Boyce Campus, and received a degree in criminal justice, and was a graduate of the Gunsmith School in Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Carol Pollitt DeCecco; four children, Dawn, Michael, Tony and Gina; and a stepson, Bob. Visitation Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Steven J. Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Hankey Church Cemetery.
Mary R. Diveley Pritts, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Durward E. Hays and the Rev. Charles D. Whipple co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Joy Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
William Dragan, 79, of Monessen, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, in Canonsburg Hospital. He was born in Monessen, June 7, 1920, a son of the late Wasyl and Veronica Navodny Dragan. He was a member of the Lynnwood Lutheran Church of Belle Vernon and the Monessen Elks. He was a member and past president of the Monessen Lions Club. He and his wife sang for the California University Chorale and belonged to the AL-MON-O Airstream Club, of which he was a past president. A lifelong resident of Monessen, he worked in the partnership of Dragan and Son Contracting. He was a flight instructor and captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Irlean Hart Dragan, with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage on Aug. 24, 1999; a daughter and son-in-law, Billie and David Hollenbaugh of Gibsonia; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Douglas and Lee Anne Dragan of Beaver and Dr. Brian Dragan of Pasadena, Md.; two brothers, Stephen Dragan of Charleroi and John Dragan of Monessen; a sister, Mary Lacanic of New Jersey; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Dragan. Friends will be received in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Lynnwood Lutheran Church, Belle Vernon, with the Rev. Donald Chudd, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
Inez M. Evans, 94, of Murrysville, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999. She was born Sept. 18, 1905, in Wales, England, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Williams Dando. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald M. Evans, in 1991. She is survived by two daughters, June E. Hall of Murrysville and Valerie J. Binder of Delmont; four grandsons, Dr. Bruce E. Hall, William J. Hall, John Binder and Scott Binder; three great-grandchildren, Michael Hall, Chris Binder and Madison Binder. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Murrysville with Dr. T. Ewen Holmes officiating. Interment private. If desired, memorials may be made to the church.
