Scottdale
Jay A. Reynolds, 75, of Scottdale, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 14, 2001, in I.H.S. of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. He was born March 24, 1926, in Scottdale, a son of the late Albert A. and Virginia (Noss) Reynolds. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Scottdale. Prior to his retirement, Jay was self-employed as an insurance agent in the Scottdale area with more than 30 years of service. Jay was a member of the Scottdale Elks B.P.O.E. 777, where he participated in the pool league, and also was a member of the Everson VFW Post. He was presently a part-time employee during tax season for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, Greensburg office. Jay was a veteran of the armed forces, having served with the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S. NTS and the USS Moore, attaining the rank of quartermaster 3rd class. He was the recipient of the European Theatre, Pacific Theatre and the American Theatre ribbons and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a graduate of Scottdale High School, Class of 1944, and Franklin Business School. Jay was an avid golfer and loved the card game of bridge. Jay leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Lorraine (Renie) Hines Reynolds, whom he married June 18, 1947; two daughters, Gloria A. Bushyeager of Clarion and Diane R. Reed and her husband, Jerry, of Neosho, Mo.; four grandchildren, Shannon and Kisa Bushyeager and Drew and Emily Mickolay; two stepgrandchildren, Erin and Bethany Reed; and a sister, Janet Beers and her husband, George, of Liverpool, N.Y. Jay's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 10:45 a.m., followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Paul Morris, officiating. Committal services and interment
with full military honors by the Southmoreland Veterans Association will follow in St. John Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery, Scottdale. The Scottdale Elks will conduct a memorial service Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Youngwood
Amy Lynn Sumey, 37, of Youngwood, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Aug. 11, 1964, in Jeannette, a daughter of Eugene Baughman of Michigan and Sandra Menchio Johnson of Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, John-Michael E. Sumey; a brother, Barry Baughman, a chaplain serving with the U.S. Navy in Japan; a sister, Toni Caughey of Greensburg; maternal grandmother, Nell Menchio of Greensburg; her boyfriend, Robert M. Nudo II of Youngwood; special friends, Beth and Robert Hornak of Youngwood; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be no public viewing. A service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Twin Valley Memorial Park Chapel, Delmont. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial donations for Amy's son, John-Michael, c/o Toni Caughey, 718 Alexander St., Greensburg, PA 15601. Mary (Kacsmarik) Vangor, 92, of Ann Arbor, Mich., formerly of Irwin, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001. She was born April 19, 1909, in Shoaf, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Vayda) Kacsmarik. She was a member of Holy Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church, Sheridan Terrace, and participated in various activities involved with her husband's pastoral duties for the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Emery I. Vangor, in 1971; a son, Luther Vangor; a sister, Anna Bonnis; and a brother, John Kacsmarik. Survivors include a son, Samuel Vangor and wife, Dorothy, of Hazel Green, Ala.; a daughter, Marilyn Frick and husband, Robert, of Franklin Lakes, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Bonnie Chase and husband, Pat, Vicki Wagner and husband, Rob, Debbie Frank and husband, Jeff, Terrie Marker, Cindy Frick, Caryn Mulle and husband, Tom, and Robbie Frick; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sophie Super of Parma, Ohio, and Helen Urban of Cleveland, Ohio. Friends will be received at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. George Hanko officiating. Sophie (Moore) Bishop Zacchetti, 96, of Greensburg, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born May 25, 1905, in Herminie, daughter of the late Gaspar and Josephine (Perclinek) Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Andrew Moore; and sisters, Katie Valli and Mary Caserman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Zacchetti; and sons-in-law, Nick Palangio and Jack Jablonsky. She is survived by her daughter, Helen (Bishop) Palangio of Damascus, Ark.; and a son, John Bishop and his wife, Aileen (Stahl) Bishop, of Des Plaines, Ill. She is also survived by her daughter, Marybelle (Bishop) Jablonsky of Greensburg, with whom she had resided for the past 25 years. She leaves eight grandchildren, Nick (Sharon) Palangio, John Bishop III, Sandra (Don) Kontos, Wesley Bishop, Patty (Rick) Owens, Sharon (Dan) Novakovich, John (Debbie) Jablonsky and Tim (Michelina) Jablonsky; and nine great-grandchildren, Stacey, Amy and Brett Novakovich, Rachel, John, Melani and Jenna Jablonsky, George Kontos and Jessie Owens. She also raised a niece and nephew as her own, Josephine Moore Smith (Cecil) and Andrew Moore (Peg). She was Gramma to Ray (Theresa) Smith, Mark (Carol) Smith, Barbie (Steve) Krewson, Andy (Gigi) Moore, Sherry (Dave) Barnum, Debbie (Dean) Rapchak, Lisa (Charles) Kern and Lynn Moore. Also, she was great-Gramma to 19 children; and great-great-Gramma to one. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. ONLY. Prayers in the funeral home Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg, with the Rev. Blane L. Resko, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Irwin.
Albert W. Musgrove, 81, of Greensburg RD2 (Norvelt), died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Brinkerton, a son of the late Charles and Grace Shoaf Musgrove. He was a member of the Emanuel Bible Church in Brinkerton and the VFW Post 3368, Mt. Pleasant. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machine operator for Dickerson Construction. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters; an infant brother; four brothers, James, Edward, Gary and Russell Musgrove; and a sister, Stella Miller. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Flossie P. Kalp Musgrove; a stepson, Walter Humbert and his wife, Gail, of Afton, Wyo.; three stepgrandchildren, Carol, Albert and Audra; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Musgrove of Oklahoma, Pa., and the Rev. Wayne Musgrove of Delaware; three sisters, Mrs. James (Elsie) Hilty of Mt. Pleasant RD5, Mrs. Robert (Edna) Ackerman of Latrobe RD1 and Mrs. Donald (Jane) Kronk-Rydle of Scottdale; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Larry E. Mary M. Pavlik, 99, of South Greensburg, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in the Hempfield Manor. She was born May 26, 1900, in Hecla, a daughter of the late Emery and Anna Bortnik Polocosky. She was the oldest charter member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg; a member of the Rosary Altar Society of St. Bruno Church; the Living Rosary Society; Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Seton #306, Greensburg; and the Jednota Ladies Lodge Branch 277. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew S. Pavlik, in 1976; two daughters, Rita and Eleanor Pavlik; two brothers, John and James Polocosky; and a sister, Anna Polocosky. She is survived by her son, Raymond L. Pavlik of South Greensburg; a granddaughter, Linda L. Grec of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Helen Beers of East Palestine, Ohio, and Elizabeth Sova of Latrobe; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg, with the Rev. Blane L. Resko, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. The Rosary Altar Society of St. Bruno Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas #306 will meet at the funeral home Monday at 3 p.m. to pray the rosary.

Marie Frownfelter, 79, of Allison Park, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in Sherwood Oaks Nursing Care Facility. Born in Latrobe, July 8, 1922, daughter of Donald R. Koontz and Hazel Rockwell Koontz. Surviving are her husband, Charles R. "Bob" Frownfelter; sons, Richard Frost of Ross and Edwin R. Frownfelter of Harrisburg, Pa.; daughter, Marcia K. Baschnagel of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Victor F. Koontz of Perth, Australia, and the late Donald R. Koontz; also four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. There will be no visitations, with arrangements handled by SIMONS FUNERAL HOME INC., 7720 Perry Highway, Ross. Memorial Services will be in Memorial Park Presbyterian Church, 8800 Peebles Road, Allison Park, PA 15101, Friday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be private. Charles B. Pipes, 77, of Hempfield Township, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at his home. He was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Washington, Pa., the son of the late Charles B. Sr. and Sara Cross Pipes. Prior to his retirement, he was a greeter at the Wal-Mart store in Hempfield Plaza and had previously been employed by Hackney Investigations and the Greensburg Photo Center. He was a member of the Word Of Life Ministries, was a former member of the Greensburg Lions Club and the Full Gospel Businessmen's Association and was a volunteer at the Westmoreland County Blind Association. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Charles was a loving husband and father and a man of great faith. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" Pipes; a son, Daniel Wayne Pipes at home; two daughters, Mrs. Judy Kaufman and her husband, Ken, of Greensburg and Mrs. Karen Barr and her husband, Mark, of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Friends will be received at the COSHEY-NICHOLSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Warner officiating. Entombment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Alvin P. Oskin Jr., funeral director, in charge of arrangements.
Gregory Skotnicki, 47, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Nov. 22, 1951, in McKeesport, the son of Frances Ruszkoski Skotnicki of White Oak and the late Ted J. Skotnicki. He was a master plumber for the Chuba Co. of Homestead, a member of the Church of St. Paul in Greensburg, a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 480, also a charter member of the White Oak Rescue and a member of the McKeesport Knights of Columbus 955. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carolyn Yaga Skotnicki; two sons, Gregory Skotnicki Jr. and Jonathan Kokos Skotnicki, both at home; three sisters, Mary Parker of Maryland, Bernadette Grese of Liberty Borough and Terri Kisan of McKeesport; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday from 12 to 9 p.m. in the JAYCOX-JAWORSKI FUNERAL HOME INC., 2703 O'Neil Blvd., McKeesport. Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Paul with the Rev. Leonard Stoviak as celebrant. Interment will be in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
