Richard Dedo, 63, of Latrobe, formerly of North Huntingdon and New Alexandria, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, in Green Meadows, Latrobe. He was born June 28, 1936, in North Huntingdon, a son of Anne Kohut Dedo of North Huntingdon and the late Steve Dedo. He was a former patrolman for North Huntingdon Township Police Department, where he served his community with loyalty and dedication for 23 years before taking disability retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Allegheny Valley Lodge #39. He was a graduate of Norwin High School Class of 1954 and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was Roman Catholic by faith. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Richard A. Dedo of Florida and Michael E. Dedo of Greensburg; dear friends, Maryann and Mark Eidemiller of Greensburg and their daughter, Sarah, whom he adored; also two sisters, Nancy Antonish of Larimer and Betti Ann Yanachik of New Stanton. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Huntingdon. Those wishing may contribute to Mom's House of Greensburg, 401 Juniper St., Greensburg, PA 15601, or Muscular Dystrophy Association. F.O.P., Allegheny Valley Lodge #39 will hold services Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Isabelle C. Elliott, 90, of Southwest Greensburg, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, in the Integrated Health Services at Mountain View, Unity Township. She was born April 6, 1909, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Henry and Kathryn Coughenour. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Elliott, on Aug. 1, 1962; a sister, Betty Bender; and a brother, Eric Coughenour. She is survived by her son, Eric "Tony" and his wife, Marjorie Elliott, of Ligonier; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack R. Street officiating. Private interment
will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
Edna M. Gumola, 80, of Yukon, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Herminie, a daughter of the late Charles and Mollie Roller. She was a member of the Seven Dolors Roman Catholic Church, Yukon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gumola, in 1978; also by four brothers, Charles, Joseph, George and Ernie Roller; and by two sisters, Dorothy and Ann. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Gumola and his wife, Barbara, of Mt. Pleasant RD7 and Anthony Gumola of Yukon; a granddaughter, Sara Gumola; and a sister, Agnes Palaski of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Seven Dolors Roman Catholic Church, Yukon, with Father Paul R. Stivason as celebrant. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
Margaret C. Hepler, 86, of Mt. Pleasant RD2, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born March 20, 1913, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late John and Henrietta Martz Baker. She had formerly been employed at Campo Plastics in Canton, Ohio, Ternsteads Machine Co. in Detroit, Mich., and Penn Line Services. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George Otis Hepler; a daughter, Betty L. Hutchinson; six brothers, John, Jess, Dewey, Calvin, Otis and David Baker; and a daughter, Elizabeth Backus. She is survived by two sons, Robert J. and Alice Levendusky of Scottdale and Tommy Thomas and his wife, Wilma, of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Bullskin Township.
Raymond Milburn, 87, of Hempfield Township, formerly of the Shafton area, died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999. Preceded in death by brothers and sisters, William, Bob, Charles, John, and Edward, Hannah, Mary, Elizabeth, and Margaret. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his children, Karen Koring, Ken, Jerry, and Kim Milburn; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Dolly Pevarnik, of Latrobe, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born in Pleasant Unity, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Mizak Kozusko. She was a member of St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Stephen, John, Michael and Paul Kozusko; and a sister, Anne Lesko Poponick. She is survived by her husband, James L. Pevarnik; two sons, David J. Pevarnik and his wife, Connie, of Latrobe and James F. Pevarnik and his wife, Bobbi Jo, of Latrobe; a sister, Elizabeth Bajuszik of Valencia; two brothers, Joseph Kozusko of San Antonio, Texas, and Richard Kozusko of Pleasant Unity; three grandchildren, Colby Musick, Benjamin Pevarnik and Brian Pevarnik; nieces and nephews, Matthew Kozusko, Danny Kozusko and Meghan Kozusko; and other numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent Basilica. Interment in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent College, St. Vincent Basilica, or Latrobe Area Hospital.
Georgianna K. Phillippi, 73, of Ligonier, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 23, 1926, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Luther C. and Elizabeth Castner Guise. She had spent her entire life caring for other people and serving with several home health organizations. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Justin R. Phillippi; a daughter, Sallie Sager of Larimer; a son, Gregory R. and his wife, Deborah Younkin, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) Smith of Mt. Lebanon; and a brother, Luther C. Guise Jr. of Frederick, Md. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME INC., Ligonier, with the Rev. Robert D. Cummings officiating. Interment will be in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
Carolyn Ann Walker Laymon Sebek, 66, of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at her residence. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born May 16, 1933, in Saltlick Township, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Edith Walker Layman, and the late Carl Cavanaugh. She was previously employed as a home health aide by Care Givers of Southwestern Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Clinton Church of God but attended the Mt. Pleasant Church of God. She was a member of the Standard Shaft Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Domer C. Laymon; a daughter, Cynthia Laymon; and a stepdaughter, Sherry Ann Sebek. Survived by her husband, Robert Sebek Jr.; a son, Domer C. Laymon Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of New Jersey; five daughters, Mrs. Richard (Cheryl) Foor of Berlin, Mrs. Norman (Diana) Herman, Mrs. Michael (Teresa) Richter, and Mrs. Jeffrey (Karen) Geary, all of Normalville, and Mrs. Joseph (Joyce) Hickle III of Fairchance; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Troy (Jennifer) Neidermeyer of State College. She loved and cherished all of her grandchildren, Brad Foor of Somerset, Heidi Herman Basinger of Meadville, Norman "Buddy" Herman, Michael Richter, Charles Richter, Ashley Geary, and Shelby Geary, all of Normalville, Joshua Hickle and Jessica Hickle of Fairchance, Shannon Laymon and Samantha Laymon of New Jersey, and Alex Neidermeyer of State College. Also survived by two brothers, Gilbert Layman of Dickerson Run and Roy Layman of Leisenring; and four sisters, Elizabeth Fulton and Mrs. John (Peggy) Hull, both of Normalville, Mrs. William (Sharon) Shreves of Connellsville, and Mrs. Rick (Mabel) Hull of Lititz, Pa. Friends will be received at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, Saturday and Sunday from 2 until 9 p.m. Additional viewing will take place Monday in the Mt. Pleasant Church of God from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the hour of funeral services in the church with the Rev. Charles Yost officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Clarence Wayne Brush, 62, of Post Drive, Latrobe, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. Wayne was born in Mt. Pleasant, April 27, 1937, a son of the late Frank C. Brush Sr., who died Feb. 18, 1981, and Florence J. Little Brush, who died May 11, 1985. Wayne was a member of the Latrobe United Presbyterian Church. He is survived by two brothers, Frank C. Brush Jr. and his wife, Rebecca (Hower), of Scottdale RD1 and John W. "Jack" Brush and his wife, Rose (Smartnick) of Greensburg RD2; two nieces, Joanna Ferrell and Jackie Brush; two nephews, John W. Brush II and Brian M. Brush; and an uncle, William Little of Akron, Ohio. Wayne's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wayne's funeral service will begin Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. Donald Graff, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Wayne's family suggests memorials be made to ARC-Westmoreland, RD12, Box 179, Donohoe Road, Greensburg, PA 15601, in Wayne's memory.
George A. Burick, 72, of Latrobe, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Latrobe, a son of the late John C. and Anna (Kolan) Burick. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by St. Vincent College and also had been employed by the former Latrobe Lumber Co. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Burick. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dolores J. (O'Barto) Burick; 10 children: Donna Monte and her husband, Anthony, of Loyalhanna, Gloria Grindle of Delmont, George W. Burick, Michelle Hartman and Carl Burick, all of Latrobe, Jennifer Morrison of West Newton, Cynthia Frabrizi and her husband, Randy, of Blairsville, and William Burick and his wife, Lori, John Burick and his wife, Paula, and Kim Burick, all of Latrobe; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Matilda Wadsworth of Canonsburg, Barbara Winkleman of Latrobe, Mary Louise Campbell of Ruffsdale and Virginia Deithorn of Latrobe; a brother, John Burick and his wife, Mae, of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m., at which time a blessing service will be held in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private.
