Edith G. Eichar, 79, of Smithton RD1, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Tarrs, a daughter of the late John J. Sr. and Lydia Smith Cunnard. She was a member of the Barren Run United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Mendon Grange #855. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orrin M. Eichar Sr., in April 1992; the following brothers and sisters: Leroy, David, Walter, John Jr., a baby brother, Anna, Evelyn, Alice and Rachel; and a granddaughter, Nora Eichar. She is survived by her son, Orrin M. Eichar Jr. and his wife, Lynda, of Scottdale RD1; two daughters, Evelyn and her husband, Laurence Stahl, and Bonnie and her husband, Henry Kelly, both of Smithton RD; the following grandchildren: Orrin III, Daniel, Lyndon and Laura Eichar, Tammy (Stahl) Tokarick and Jeffrey Stahl, Jennifer (Kelly) Moore, Scott Kelly and Roxanne (Kelly) Shaffer; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Edna Ganter of Tarrs, Margaret Gibb of Sewickley, Mrs. Wayne (Dorothy) White of Jones Mills, Eileen Kowinsky of Tarrs and Leona Furin of Scottdale; and a brother, William of Mechanicsburg. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the L.L. BARTHELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Second Street, Smithton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. James Myers and the Rev. Herbert Peterson co-officiating. Interment will be in the Barren Run Cemetery, South Huntingdon Township.
Frank G. Thenn, of St. Anne Villa, Greensburg, formerly of Monroeville, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999. Survived by two daughters, Peggy Ann Rombach and Frances C. Charles, and son, Frank Jr.
Grace L. Gray, 88, of Ligonier, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born March 22, 1911, in Washington, Pa., a daughter of the late Jesse and Cora Belle Reynolds Chambers. She was a member of the Heritage United Methodist Church and the Ligonier Golden Agers Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ross E. Gray, in 1962; two brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Karen) Squib of Derry and Mrs. John (Vicki) Beaufort of Ligonier; a son, David R. (and his wife, Kathi) Gray of Naples, Fla.; six grandchildren, Kelly Gray, Melissa Eller, Dana Syster, Ann Gray, Melinda and Elizabeth Beaufort; and two great-grandchildren, Mary S. Gray and Sydney Beaufort. Friends will be received at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald F. Cook and the Rev. David A. Bell co-officiating. Interment in Ligonier Valley Cemetery, Ligonier.
Zethel L. Kaylor, 89, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, in the Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. She was born April 1, 1910, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Ellen Burk Phillabaum. She was a graduate of Greensburg High School and Slippery Rock Normal, and taught school before her marriage to Charles E. Kaylor in 1934. Later, she taught released time religious classes and substituted in the Greensburg School District. As a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greensburg, she was a very active participant. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband; four brothers, Clarence, Lawrence, Arthur and John Phillabaum; and a sister, Mary Ellen Harold. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Vetter and her husband, Bill, of Venetia, Pa.; her son, Charles E. Kaylor Jr. and his wife, Jeanne, of Greensburg; four granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Whetzel, and a brother, Ronald Phillabaum, both of South Greensburg. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 246 S. Main St., Greensburg, with the Rev. E. Allen Scanlon and the Rev. Craig T. Hess co-officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the memorial service. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Zethel Kaylor Scholarship Fund for Future Educators, c/o The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, 111 Station Place, Greensburg, PA 15601. Duane W. Morris, 72, of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in St. Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh. He was born July 13, 1927, in McKeesport, a son of the late Duane and Olive Alt Morris. He was a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric Corp., Research and Development, of Wilkinsburg, and a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Ilene H. Miller Morris; three daughters, Candice Ulishney and Pamela Morris, both of Jeannette, and Tracey Anthony of Manor; a son, Duane W. Morris Jr. of North Huntingdon; and four grandchildren. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Dan Kaser officiating. Interment will follow in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
Louis P. Regoni, 71, of Delmont, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 12, 1928, in White Valley, a son of the late Paul and Bertha M. Smith Regoni. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Thermal Transfer in Monroeville. He was a member of the St. John Baptist de La Salle Church in Delmont, American Legion Post #18 in Slickville, AMVETS Post #85 in White Valley, and Knights of Columbus Council #4226 in Murrysville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War era and an avid hunter who thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Regoni, in 1991. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Rose M. Mangery Regoni; and by a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Regoni's family will receive friends at the JOHN L. William B. Roberts, 68, of Jeannette, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Burl and Anna Strutt Roberts. Prior to retirement, he was a construction supervisor for Bell Telephone. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg, Latrobe Elks, and Telephone Pioneers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois A. Finn Roberts. He is survived by his second wife, Maureen Howard Roberts of Jeannette; two sons, William D. Roberts of Pleasant Unity and James J. Roberts and his wife, Terry, of Irwin; five daughters, Leatrice Myers, Janet Langford and her husband, Ty, and Colleen Wilkie and her husband, Kevin, all of Jeannette, Erin K. DeCaro and her husband, Joseph, of Lake Worth, Fla., and Jennifer Roberts of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, John "Riley" Roberts of Mansfield, Ohio, and Lyle "Moe" Roberts of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Alice Beiswinger of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Anna Walsh and her husband, Richard, of Murrysville, and Lila Hoehl and her husband, Robert, of Phoenixville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
Helen C. (Malago) Skeloski, 82, of San Miguel, Calif., formerly of Wyano, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at home. She was born July 24, 1917, in Yukon, a daughter of the late Steven L. and Elizabeth Franks Malago. She was a member of Seven Dolors Roman Catholic Church, Yukon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley J. Skeloski, in 1985; and a brother, John Malago. She is survived by a daughter, Janice Stovall of San Miguel, Calif.; two grandsons, Christopher Matey of Massachusetts and Jeffrey Matey of California; a sister, Ruth Franicola, and brother, Edward Malago, both of California. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. in Seven Dolors Roman Catholic Church, Yukon, with the Rev. Paul R. Stivason as celebrant. Interment in Seven Dolors Cemetery. J. Zane T. Byers, 72, of Scottdale RD1 (East Huntingdon Township), passed away early Thursday morning, Jan. 6, 2000, at his residence. Zane was born in Belle Vernon, Oct. 5, 1927, a son of the late Thomas and Sarah Amanda Cowan Byers. Zane married the former Jane Konzal on Jan. 27, 1951. Zane was a retired machinist with Crown Metal Products of Elizabeth, where he worked for 40 years. He also retired from U.S. Steel with 25 years service, working as a machinist at both the Irvin Works Division in Dravosburg and most recently, U.S. Steel's Research Center in Monroeville. Zane was a life member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #777 of Scottdale and was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Army during peacetime following World War II. Zane is survived by his loving family, his wife, Jane Konzal Byers, with whom he would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary later this month; his daughter, Carol Byers Lehman and husband, Thomas, of Scottdale RD1; his granddaughter, Beth Ann Lehman of Savoy, Ill.; two sisters, Jean Eichholtz of Port Vue and Iva Leighty of Reston, Va.; four brothers, George Byers of Finleyville, James Byers and wife, Betty, of Scottdale RD1, Ernest Byers and wife, Jean, of Scottdale RD1, and Russell Byers and wife, Ida, of Ruffsdale RD1; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-5300, Friday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., where a prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Paul J. Gentile, 80, of Latrobe, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh at Greensburg. He was born June 28, 1919, in Latrobe, the son of the late Sylvester and Sylvia Constatine Gentile. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Kennametal, where he worked in the shipping department. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, B.P.O. Elks #907, F.O. Eagles and American Legion Post 515, all of Latrobe. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Quaranto Gentile; a daughter, Pamela Gentile of Greensburg; and a sister, Mrs. Bruno (Margaret) Inselmini of Latrobe. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, where a blessing service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas M. Lukac officiating. Military services will be conducted in the funeral home Saturday at 9:15 a.m. Interment in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
